Game Description
A platformer inspired by Jump King where you must navigate treacherous terrain in order to reach the Rainbringer and save your drowning world.

How does your game tie into the theme?
My game ties into the theme very literally; rain is a primary gameplay element and there is a shrine at the end. Where I tried to iterate on the theme in my own (hopefully) unique way was in highlighting rain as a practical obstacle and something that can be dangerous in excess.

I never played Jump King, but after playing your game, seems like I dont want nor need to. it was HARD. One thing to improve is add a little input buffer so when you release the directional key and jump almost at the same time, it jumps in that direction and not up.

Nice pixel art enviroment! I found the mechanics of the jump entertaining, challenging.

Great entry, the art is amazing, the presentation is amazing, good stuff.

Good game, entertained me for 1 hour.

The rain gliding mechanic is a nice twist to the jump king movement, although I dislike that some jumps forced you to have to time your jump-charging immediately as you landed on a moving/slippery surface. This technique felt really finicky especially considering that you couldn't buffer a jump mid-air so that, as soon as you land whilst you are holding spacebar, you would charge a jump.

Occasionally, after being sped up with conveyor belts, I would glide off ledges that weren't rainsoaked (and with the balls almost acting as bumpers). Sometimes walls don't stop momentum, making for some jank falls.

Overall however, I liked most of the jumps and could find reliable setups for most of them, so I think the difficulty is fair.

The aesthetics are simply and pleasing, although I personally would have preferred more details on some walls. The lighting from the torches enhanced the gloomy mood for the inside rooms. The audio was basic but perfectly fine.

I think the shrine theme could be developed more as a story element, right now it feels shoe-horned in.

I'm humbled that you would stumble on to this and want to spend an hour with it. Thank you very much for your time and your feedback.

how is it the path of the rainbringer when i don’t bring the rain i took it away!!

extremely cool presentation wise, gameplay is clearly just jumpking but with some added control which was nice.

overall good job!

I had a lot of fun playing it! The visuals and animations are great, but the audio is pretty basic.

Level design and gameplay works really well. Very good job on balancing levels so that there's a clear path, and only one path, that you must take to progress.  I only found one screen I could skip by following what seemed to be an unintended route. The levels before the final area are quite forgiving with how far you fall down, which I believe is good for the pacing of the game. The difficulty scales well as you progress. I also really appreciate the one checkpoint in the final area. There are also some parts with conveyor belts that are very hard to time because you have to be on the ground before you can start charging your jump.

The use of rain as a gameplay element is a creative spin on Jump King, but from the perspective of someone who never played that game it seems like it's otherwise mostly the same idea. I wish you used more puzzle elements involving the rain, such as the one part where you block it with a gate by flipping a lever.

Love the visual design, but can't handle the controls. I know that it's part of the genre you're pursuing, but the frustrating controls had me nope-ing out of the game before I ever got to your unique element of using rain as part of it.

Great game! I like the way you incorporate the rain into the mechanics, making the area slippery.
Though having a texted instruction on the tricks would be better, after seeing so much of my friends trying out this game and quitting on the first level. None of them figured that you can jump while sliding on the platform.

After discovering this mechanic, this game became pretty fun for me, opening up new ways for me to pass the level.

The art is cute, consistent, looks very finished, though it feels pretty generic. I feel like there could be more fantasy and mythical element in it.

The audio design could be better though, especially the bgm. All it has is rain sound, and it gets pretty grating on my ears listening to it.

Overall, great game and good job!

Great submission!

The gameplay is hard, and I fell stuck pretty soon... However, I find the core mechanics and the twist you gave to the classical platformers jump really interesting! Also, the way you chose to use the rain in the gameplay is amazing: good job and congrats!

Also, the graphics is very consistent and pleasant! I appreciated a lot the introductory tour to the most beautiful corners of your game... Considering I hadn't the opportunity to see them by myself :P

loved the artstyle ! realy well polished !

I didn't played to jump king, but seen some playtrought, and you've taken the essence of the gameplay (and the frustration too :) )

I gave up after 10 mins of trying on a single jump, but I'll maybe give another try when I feel zen enouth ^^

Well done great entry !

Loved it, but got stuck on the third or fourth screen and just couldn’t seem to progress. But that’s a me issue, not a game issue!

The only thing I would suggest is some kind of visual indicator as to the strength of the jump (like the sprite crouching in stages or something), or make the “wind up” time longer, so it’s slightly easier to get a feel for how long to hold the jump key down.

An excellent entry, well done!

As the others have said love the are and general atmosphere and its a great take on jump king feels pretty polished for what time you had.

Lovely art and rain sound - I think the controls could've done with a slight tweak as I found them to be quite inconsistent which added to the frustration. Other than that I loved the mechanics though, I thought sliding through the rain was a great idea to add onto jump king

Glorious jump king clone. Well done on the art and audio. I gave up because this is just as hard as jump king is :)

The visuals are really polished and immersive, it just looks and feels great! That said, I'm nowhere patient or good enough to complete the first room. Falling back to the beginning was brutal :')

I'll give it a try again after going through other games.

Lovely pixels and sound effects! The mechanics were challenging, but once I got the hang of the controls, I had fun making it to the end. The level design was well thought out too! Definitely not for the casual gamer since falling can be quite punishing.

The only issue I had with the controls was that when I try to jump forward, half of the time I would jump straight up instead, even with the forward arrow pressed, but not sure if I was doing something wrong.

Great job!

Using rain to make surfaces slippery is a brilliant use of the theme. The presentation here is fantastic, and there seems to be an impressive runtime! I say "seems to be" because the game outlasted me. It gives me Getting Over It vibes. In that I couldn't finish that, either. :P

Very neat little game! I did have fun sliding around and bouncing off of walls, even if it was a bit difficult sometimes.

Indeed the atmosphere/ambience is pretty great, but the controls are a little hard, specially for those who are not dedicated gamers. Although given the inspiration is Jump King, can’t really complain much about the controls of this game. Rather the question is why use jump king for inspiration haha. Overall good game :)

The game atmosphere and art is amazing. The jump controls were novel and interesting but i couldn't quite get comfortable with it, But I can see the appeal of this interesting jump mechanic which makes it more of a puzzle sort of platforming. Overall game is fun,
