The concept is interesting and original but I did not understand what to do with the batteries?
I feel “falling of the edges” was an unnecessary mechanic, I’d rather have my character not be stupid and collide with the edges :D
The laser sound loop gets annoying quite quickly.
I kept deactivating the connections instead of pushing enter :( It’s a bit annoying to have to move out of the area then come back to be able to reactivate it.
If you’d like to get rebindable hotkeys and volume sliders you can check https://github.com/GodotWildJam/gwj-accessibility-scripts.
The rest is alright, good job overall!
Ho, did I forget to explain what to do with the batteries? It's the problem when you've got your nose on the game, you forget that not everyone is in your head and knows what you think... :)
Thanks for playing and for the advices, I'll keep them in mind next time!
I really like this game, great idea.
The controls were a bit tough to get right, and I also found it annoying that you have to move away from the portals before being able to connect them again.
Yes, you guys are unanimous about the control and this 'move away' bug. It shows in the ratings for "control", too. I'll pay attention next time. Thanks a lot for playing and your comment!
Very cool idea and pretty well executed. The visuals are very nice, as is the sound. That said I really didn’t like the controls, even after multiple tries couldn’t get used to them and missclicked constantly :< Also having played the web version only I don’t know if it works like that everywhere, but it was annoying that after disconnecting the portals I had to move away and back for the O/P line to appear again.
Yes, having to walk away is a bug I left because I was short on time : it's the same on every build.
The control mapping will be this jam's lesson for me : everyone agrees with you! :)
Thanks for playing the game!
This is a solid start to a game, in my humble opinion. The air bubble timer is challenging and pushes you, as the player, to keep moving, and I like the linking of pylons as a core transit mechanic.
That said…
Thank you!
Actually, I'm also much more used to the left side of the keyboard but it's always a hassle for me to switch the layout because I'm on an azerty keyboard and our keys are ZQSD so I thought it would avoid this manipulation for the player and avoid having to handle the option to change the keymapping. I'll work on this for the next game jam.
As for the walk away thing, it's not a feature, it really is a bug :( I left it because I was short on time.
Got a bit stressed playing this...but all in all nice fit to the theme!
thanks! :)
A nice cute game! As others said, it's pretty stressful but in a good way😅 Wish we could rebind the keys, but great job!
thanks for the feedback!
Nice game! Stressful indeed, but I think this is the exact mood you've aimed for. The controls are a bit weird key combination. I had fun playing the game. Congrats!
thanks a lot for playing it!
I enjoyed the audio and art and over all game play. The controls could use some work, they're just placed oddly. I did fall off where I thought I should have been to grab a battery but maybe that was just me being dumb. Over all I enjoyed it, job well done!
Thank you for the feedback! I'll spend more time on the controls next time : you're not the first one to give me that comment.
That was stressful! Something about the idea of limited oxygen + having to hold your breath outside the bubble really did something for how immersive the game is.
thanks for playing!
This game is an interesting one, it was fun to play and finish and the audio fits well.
But i had some problems with the controls, they felt very off and it would have been nice to be able to rebind the keys.
Also when disconnecting beams i had to go away and go to the pole again to be able to connect it somewhere else again, which felt a little weird.
after i got used to the controls in the first two rounds, it wasn't too difficult to complete it, but it was a little stressful.
The graphics felt a little weird, but that isn't really a big problem
Thanks for your comment! It actually echoes what I think too. The anchors remained with that bug which forces you to step away and come back. I had no time to fix it, unfortunately. And the graphics are always a weak point for me. I have a few artist friends but they were not available so I had to pick some stuff around the net.
I thought this was good! Disconnecting and reconnecting the beams was a little tricky but otherwise the controls were pretty good once I got used to them. I was assuming there were colliders around the islands, I cracked up when I fell off a ledge!
thank you so much. Yes, disconnecting and reconnecting is tricky because you have to step back in order to re-trigger the laser. I should have fixed that but I had no time left.
I think there's some really interesting stuff here. I like the serene athomsphere and I like that you have to keep the tree alive. My main problem is, that it was too difficult :D . You run out of oxygen really fast and one small step and it's over. I think for me this game would work really well as a more relaxing, forgiving puzzle kind of game :D
Thank you! You're totally right. I actually had my daugther play it yesterday with twice as much oxygen and it was much more enjoyable (even for me who knows the best way to follow) :)
Don't bash yourself so hard, I think it was pretty fun.
Main issue for me is that using arrows to move through the bridges is too hard. None of the bridges connect in a right angle so I need to do very small steps or else I fall and die.
Congratulations.
thanks! You don't have to walk on the bridge, though : just touching the anchors and pressing enter should teleport you to the other side. Actually, I think you would not be able to walk on the bridges : there are not walkable areas there so it's normal that you fell ;)
Now I feel dumb, the game says that in the tutorial. Thanks, gonna give it another go to see if I can finish it.
:) Great! I hope you'll make it!
