In my first seconds of the game, I bumped into the ring, it sent me flying away and spinning super fast… Was not a great start :D

I’m sorry but the camera is quite terrible. Or the physics of the rotations more specifically. It takes super long to stop rotating and gives some motion sickness. Especially with the quite big FoV. The rotation should stop very soon after stopping moving the mouse! I could not bear it to play the game to the end, though I’m not particularly sensitive to motion sickness (I can play VR without problems for example).

Anyway I think it’s a good and interpretation of the theme and quite original compared to the other submissions. The graphics are alright too.

Oh and it’s nice that you have some procedural generation in there!

Thanks for playing!

To stop the ship going in one direction you need to use the controls to counter that movement, I think a solution to better indicate this would be some particles and better engine sounds As for the power of controls I blame myself for not implementing the controls settings in time, as said before I realized too late that the ship acts differently with different mice. I think if you could tweak the setting there would be no problem with stopping

Didn't expect a ring racing game but thoroughly enjoyed it :). Something that I'm not reading here below: I think the background is a bit too busy and was quite hard to ignore, and maybe it clashes a bit too much with the general low poly style and colors that you picked, but it's still nice.

I think the brake idea is a great idea!

Real fun with a good concept, but quite hard controls with some issues.

I really like spaceship games and your entry reminded me of the pilot's test of x wing alliance where you race through rings in a space course :)

That said the mouse implementation feels a bit odd, it feels a bit like you cante really estimate how much it's going to turn related to the mouse input, maybe a more simple mouselook type control a bit like in Descent for this part could work better ?

Regardless i like the concept and i like that you even put some controls to roll left and right, the random level generation whith a seed input is also a nice thing to have :)

Thanks :) I have found out that the mouse control thing is a bit odd on different mice/devices. For example on my desktop PC I have to move quite a bit to turn and on my work laptop the mouse is too sensitive for my taste. There is a sensitivity setting in code for each type of movement, but I didn’t have time to implement the settings panel for it :( But it is on my todo list for the post jam version :)

Well if you had different results on different machines that's understandable that you couldn't anticipate every different sensitivity setting for every machine of people who were gonna play XD

Yeah and I found out about it on Monday so it was way to late to do something about it :D

Surprisingly fun! :D The controls were quite slidey but ultimately usable. Sometimes I hit the side of a ring and went into a crazy spin but I was able to get out of it using the mouse controls. I wonder if it would control better if pressing S acted as more of a 'break' than a 'thrust backwards', so I can pause and then adjust my trajectory. The hardest part was accidentally moving too fast towards a ring and then not being able to turn fast enough to actually get into it and just zooming right past it 😅

Overall a good submission though, I enjoyed it. :D Plus bonus points for allowing custom seeds and randomly generated levels!!

Glad you liked it :) I’m making a “stop in all axis and directions” freeze the ship button for the post jam version, its the first thing I felt was missing when playing. But not to make it too easy its gonna be a power-up or a 1 or 2 uses per play kind of thing :D

This game was a lot of fun, the controls were difficult, but I could use them. I really enjoyed drifting through the rings :)

damn I had forgotten how hard Descent was to control. also it doesnt help that my mouse died this week and im doing this with a touchpad. really entertaining game

Developer

Haha I have to try it with a touch pad :D sounds painful

Really nice game. I really needed some time to get used to the controls, but it reminded me a little bit of flying the ship in Outer Wilds (only much more difficult :D). Going slow and methodical worked for me much better than trying to go really fast.
