I like that you implemented a story, as it makes you feel like you are on this grand adventure. The pixel art fits really well and the attack animations, while not overly complicated, are really well done. Hope to see more of the adventures of the Whole Fool :) Good job!

A good turn based rpg game! In my opinion, it would be useful to have some information about enemies, like their hp, and some SFX in the combat, but in general it is a good game!

Thank you so much! I wanted to add tons of sfx, but time got the better of me... Didn't even cross my mind to add UI for the enemies lol.

Loved the lore and the concept, really funny and the concept of finding out the truw path by trial and error is reallycool tho, i found it quite easy t finish but still got me for being so original and funny ^^

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned for more of Whole Fool's misadventures!

Your artwork is fantastic and those sprites are so cute!! I think all of us can relate to Whole Fool at some point in our lives!! Haha, Turned based rpgs are a ton of fun and it was great seeing one in the jam and especially one with such an interesting combat system! Really nice game and great work! Well done! (:

Developer

Thank you so much! I had so much planned for the combat, but a week is so little time, but I am happy it came out the way it did. Also have to give credit to the amazing  Krishna Palacio for the graphics. His minifantasy series is magical and is the asset I use for all Whole Fool misadventures.

I liked your pixel art! Small sprites aren't easy but you nailed the characters!

Really liked this one, pretty cool game! (Mana seems to not properly update in the UI when gaining it though)

Developer(+1)

Doh! I thought I fixed that, but thanks for playing and pointing it out.

Nice job! Managed to win on my third run through. Would have been interesting to see more non-combat nodes, or nodes that persisted through runs. I think maybe mana is glitched? I went to check out Budokai too.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I definitely wanted more non-combat events, but most of the ideas I came up with were NSFW (given the nature of Misadventures of Whole Fool). I honestly just ran out of time to come up with more SFW ideas.  I also plan to have a playable prototype/alpha for Spades Budokai before the end of the year.

Well we'll get 'em next time, right? I like your idea of a persistent setting/character set across your jam entries, by the way. It makes explicit what most people intrinsically gravitate to anyway. I look forward to the fool's next misadventure!

good RBG  game i like the animation  and the simple pixel art ,but i did not like the controls  you should go to next text by left click

Developer

Thanks for playing. I thought about implementing mouse controls, but I never got around to it and I prefer keyboard controls.

very nice design and UI, looks like it could actually be a good framework for a future game if you decided to expand on the idea!

Developer

Thank you so much! I've actually been playing around with expanding this a bit for my Misadventures of Whole Fool series.

oh man did not expect a turn based game! well done! the animations simple, yet effective, very well done! great game

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! I tend to gravitate towards turned based RPGs when doing jams... not sure why lol. The last jam I did seriously was also an RPG.

what!? Oh I wanna check it out! I'm a big fan of rpg and I've been wanting to make one for the longest

Developer(+1)

lol ask and you shall receive! This was made for AGBIC 2018 or 2019, but I never finished it in time for the submission.

Very nice turn based RPG. I like the death animations, it looks like they're being swallowed by the ground.

Developer

Lol now I can't unsee it. Thanks for playing and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it.

hehehehe these wolves sure know how to make me feel like a Fool!
Here I am brandishing my blade and the just make it awkward for me swinging at them!

The animations were so sweet! They kept the game going, with their little dances and idles. Also the story from place to place was cool. No spoilers for the ending here, but it was good.
Also, thank you for providing feedback after each run, I would maybe probably have given up (to check this and that you know, maybe a party is still going on somewhere)

Cute and polished game!

In my game the Slime has meaning. It might not be very fulfilling but it.is.something.
