Didn't expect to see a game with Rick Griffin art but I'mcertainly happy to!

Pretty fun and super ambitious.

I did have a problem where the game crashed after the intro and some sprites being off screen and there are DEFINITELY some balancing issues since I one shot every opponent before the main boss.

I don't know what the different dice did other than knowing that some of them were affected by the weather. Some battles to introduce what the different dice did or a tutorial on how weather affected them would've been nice.

But overall, the game is great! beautiful art, some nice voice acting, and the fact that this game has a mini story is super cool given the time constraints.

Really beautiful graphics.

Found it pretty cool. I liked the music, the sound, the art and animation direction and the voice acting. Only thing I found wrong with it is it was too easy, but everything else was pretty sweet. :)

The art and just the atmosphere in general is just top notch - but being a fan of your art for some time now,  I would not have expected anything else from you and your team! <3 (Also big kudos to the voice actors!)

It's just incredibly charming and expressive! I would have liked an explanation of what the different dice types are doing in the dice loadout menu (or, if it was there, I just didnt notice it), but this is really just a nitpick from me. I am amazed to see what you four have put together in just 48 hours! :)

How on earth you managed this within the Jam is beyond me - the mechanics and map, the art style and the amount of content was amazing, but for me the voice acting is what really sets it apart for me. I found myself enjoying meeting new characters and chuckling often.

Others have mentioned the balancing issues, but personally I don't think it's really a problem for a Jam game to be too easy (I've definitely played plenty which I really struggle to make any progress on). It didn't break the game and it didn't ruin the mechanics at all (though I did forget about the bonus 7 damage admittedly)

Wow this was impressive, especially for a game jam game! Was not expecting fully voice acted competent stories that actually made me care for the characters!

The entire presentation was excellent. I loved the intro, and I especially loved how each enemy introduced themselves with full voice acting (and really well done voice acting, you guys must at least do this somewhat professionally? Pardon me if I'm not familiar with your previous works). Also the graphics and audio, all fantastic! This is probably the top most impressive looking game this jam, or at least way up there.

Gameplay seems pretty cool. I like the idea of dice battles and rolling to see how well you do. I think the game was... kinda easy though? Like I read that you want to get it to add up to seven, so I'd just grab the dice right when it was like a 2 or 5, then just gently set it down on the board. Then I would get an extra 7 damage and pretty much insta kill the enemy! This even worked on the boss at the end, I set down a 7 combo, and then 1 "6", and then there he died his long agonizing death!! Personally I didn't mind just setting down the dice as it let me progress through the story faster and it felt like I found a super cool secret strategy... but then I'm guessing that's not the way it was meant to be played. Also I never really got a feel for the different dice types other than it seems they had different face numbers. I may have just equipped too late though.

Overall though super excellent! Your whole team has done great work and this has been a highlight game for me to try this jam!!

Maybe it’s just my queue, but I seem to be running into games that have animation of full sized sprites a lot more this time around it seems. This one has fully voiced visual novel cutscenes on top of all that art! This game partly feels like one of those indie-projects that already has a year of production behind it. Did you people even sleep during this jam? :-D

About the dice though … during the end of my play-through, I noticed that one start-position was empty, and one of the other ones had 2 dice in them. I think this may have happened after I threw one of them out of the play area. Also ‘Harold’ got a really good roll and I had to restart that fight, but then my dice where locked for the first turn of the re-do?

(Lastly, I think you may be able to solve the problem in the discussion below – that of the balance between the player doing everything they please with the dice, versus the game becoming too easy – if you just don’t allow a grasped dice too close to the roll area. For example, you can still throw them, but only, say, from the left side of the screen, where your character is. Maybe have some obstacles in the way as well during some fights.)

I knew the art style looked familiar so I thought someone ripped some assets from somewhere. Nope! ACTUAL RICK GRIFFIN! Not only that, but also really great voice acting, map view and dice interactions. I don't know what's stopping me from just throwing all dice at once and one-shotting the enemy though

Evidence I need to actually learn Unity myself. I told people at least twice, RAISE HIT POINTS! RAISE HIT POINTS! Hit points did not get raised. Whoops! (I don't blame Miller, programming took up all his time and he'd been up like 24 hours at that point. I mean I should learn Unity so I can take responsibility myself)

Thank you so much!

excellent presentation and worldbuilding skills for the span of the jam! 😲
the dubs are funny and very well made and everything makes it easy for the player to feel connected to the story and feel emphatic for the characters (loved the stereotyped snake hehe).

my only criticism is the design of the gameplay itself, I wish I had more room for different strategies and interesting gameplay choices. for now, the battle is too straightforward and doesn't pose too much of a challenge.

Developer(+1)

Yeah unfortunately we didn't have a lot of room to playtest. We will be making a post-jam version that should increase the strategy more!

Best intro to a jam game I've seen. Great humour. :)

This was amazing, the voice acting is really really fun, and the art is top notch! I liked the idea of changing your loadout to have different properties and chances. Unfortunately got softlocked right at the end! All my dice got locked and the screen was a faded blue... Really enjoyed it regardless!
Edit: I think it would be fun if the dice were more volatile, span around faster or rolled a bit when they landed, as it's pretty easy to manipulate them into exactly what you want.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Sorry about the softlock, I don't think it came up in other playtesting. And yes, making the dice more chaotic is one of the things we're hoping to do in the post-jam edition--we want you to be able to throw a dice into another dice to change its result, but not like, sit it down on the number you wanted

That would be awesome! Keep up the great work!

The art and story and voice acting was funny and great! But the gameplay basically came down to landing a 7, which because the dice don't really roll you can make happen very easily.

A GMTK game mady be furry artists - never thought I'd see the day.

Jokes aside this was so hilarious and great! I loved the dialogue, story and voice acting so much and was laughing the whole time.

Good game overall. The voice acting and writing was funny and the art was very well drawn. Really cool to see a whole game world like this made in the span of 48hrs
