Wow! Amazing scope and large set of mechanics for such a short time period! Very well done, I really enjoyed this
Your passion about this project can be felt through the computer screen!
I love the idea of strategy game with terrafroming. Jam version is already great, but obviously a lot can still be added, like other terraforming tiles. Additionaly tiles can have extra properties, there is huge potential here. Hope that you continue working on this, good job!
The long explanation in the game page is a little intimidating but overall even it the game is complex it stay quite intuitive. How works each terrain can be a little confusing but it can be understood by trying by himself on the tutorial levels. At the full map game, the mage seems to spawn outside of the part we can see so I was not sure what strategy should I use as killing a mage seemed to be the best way to progress by gaining some dice. I found the pixel-art and the sounds/music were good.
Thanks for playing!
There’s a change each turn that mage(s) spawn in/around any tower. So it can happen through bad luck when playing that you see none in the full map. We should probably just have placed one in the full map at the start, instead of relying on the towers.
Interesting idea, solid implementation. Impressice to build something big like a strategy game in so little time.
The UI was a bit iffy, and the hand drawn tutorial notes doesn't go great with the otherwise okay pixel art style.
I had to mute this game early, because the sound effects were super loud, and I wasn't a huge fan of them. I tried to click the button in game, but if it did anything I didn't see. Maybe it wasn't active in the tutorial?
Thanks for playing!
Yes, in retrospect the tutorial intro screens should have been pixelated as well.
The sound button in the upper right is supposed to bring up this control panel. I just retested it on the actual live site, and made this .gif … Maybe it’s something to do with screen-scaling? Though if the other buttons work for you that can’t be it.
Great execution of a classic interpretation of the theme. Really refreshing art style and turn based gameplay, I really liked the music too. Great work!
Really cool game! I really liked the mechanics and the retro artstyle! Good job!
I REALLY enjoyed this game! Only had a few issues, I didn't really like trying to read the handwritten instructions and also idk if it was possible but during the survival mission it seems like I couldnt scroll the map up idk if ur not supposed to or if i just didnt figure it out but it really seemed like u could since there were definitely enemies spawning from up there and i even heard them build/terraform something.
Thank you so much! :-D
The final map can’t be scrolled. There are undead up there, but the idea was that the player can’t get there, so the last map becomes endless.
The tutorial screens was one of the last things made, at that point we where definitely in a hurry :-)
This game is super fun and vibey, I love the music and art and just overall style, it gets a little slow after a while but I still loved it!
Thanks!
This might help a bit with the slowness: You can make the undead turn faster by pressing ‘Z’, which toggles their animation per unit to be instantly resolved.
Interesting strategy, dice spend pool with terrain options! I like the art style, reminds me of some old school games!
Looks old school, gameplay-wise not really my type of game but it seems good.
Love the board game style concept to strategise the action
