Nice concept, a king of Russian roulette that give you more power if you succeed. It could be even better with more rewarding spells, or more controls on the spell choice. It could also be nice to add the effects permanently (like speed), to "build" our character along the game, and make a bad spell less deathly.
I like to have simple rules and be able to start playing right from the start, understanding how to play and what I am doing.
Thank you for the game !
Thanks for the feedback. The speed spells have permanent effect but hopefully will add offensive and barrier magics in the future
Ha... Well, it seems I've died each time after a speed spell, I had the feeling it was temporary xD
Cool idea, but effects from dice-throws aren't very noticeable. Would be nice if they were a bit stronger (maybe with an animation or something), but nice game for 48h
Thanks for the feedback. Love the suggestion on adding more animation to express the game further, will try to implement it in the future
That's a funny idea! Impressing that you made sprites for all 8 directions both player and enemy in such a little time :o
I just need to point out that just running in squares (without throwing any dice) it's an invincible strategy - I've got an 11800 score with that B)
It's a pretty cool little game, good job!
Thanks for the feedback. Looks like you figured out the strategy to get higher score.
Though it could use a bit more of a strategy/tactics element (maybe some kind of luck manipulation?), there is a good vertical slice of a game here and did enjoy playing it!
Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully when the initial plan of having offensive and barrier magics added to the game in the future, it will able to create some kind of strategy planning to the game
I've seen some other dungeon games as well. but most of them I had hard time understanding. What I like about this one is it's simple. I can totally understand what I'm doing.
The speed gives me some adrenaline :D
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoy it
Nice idea. Waiting for the spinning dice to reveal the next power reminds me of good old Mario Kart times. Some offensive spells would be a nice addition for the next build.
Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully will able to add those spells after the Game Jam
Decent music! :-)
As it is, the game is just a bit too fast: If it was slower, you could try to hit the right spell. As it is, it’ way too common to land on ‘slow player down’, which often results in an instant death.
Also, I get that the point is to just run away and not play offense, but only heal/teleport/speed-up feels very limiting somehow, as they are all passive abilities.
Thanks for the feedback. Was actually planning to add offensive and barrier magics. But due to my busy schedule and time constraint, I had to remove them. Hopefully will add them after the Game Jam
Cute game. A little unfair at times, but I liked that it was hectic.
Thanks for the feedback. Guess the RNG works
An entertaining wee game :) the core mechanic is pretty interesting, and the hoards of enemies are very intimidating! I'd love there to be more strategy, maybe each random spell could be cast at will rather than immediately? Good work!
Thanks for the feedback. Will take it into consideration for future improvement
I love the core mechanic of the random magic ability, it can cause lot of chaotic situations and it's really fun to play, the art also looks great!
Thanks for the feedback. Good to know that
Very chaotic but I enjoyed playing. The enemies are very fast which makes it hard but I liked that. I was kinda unsure if I was suppose to target my magic spell or if it just damaged the monsters around me
Thanks for the feedback. Initially I planned to have offensive type magics implemented and maybe some barrier magic. But those contents were cut out of the game due to my busy schedule. Maybe I will add the improvement in the future
The concept of random attack and waiting for the MP to fill is good, they can results in many situations. Currently I can hardly imagine a strategy to deal with these monsters , they are too fast!
Thanks. Good to know that you like it
The player's viewpoint is kind of limited. Those enemies jumped scare me a couple of time!
Thanks for the feedback. Will plan to implement some camera mechanics to ensure not a sudden jumpscare happen in the future
