One of the files in the Zip gave an instant Trojan warning

Developer (1 edit)

Windows defender will give a warning  with any .exe game that is not digitally signed, this is the case since the game was directly exported from Construct 3 (the game engine I used for the game). I'll be working on a web based version for the next version, so people won't need to download the game to play it and have to deal with this warning. I assure anyone playing the game though there are no viruses or malicious code in the game.

I don't have anything to say other than this is a fun game! It looks great and sounds great. Great job!

Difficult but fun! I liked this game a lot once I got the hang of it as it can get pretty chaotic and has a charming art style. My biggest issue would probably be that often, when I was first starting, I wouldn't be able to completely move an obstacle up/down as my mouse would encounter the top/bottom of my screen (which, the comment below me mentions). Outside of that, which was more of a nuisance that I could overcome anyways, this was fun. Good work!

Super cute game, excellent sprite work, hilarious voice lines, just an overall great package!

I encountered one issue that was a bit frustrating: When you grab a tree to move it, you can only move it until your mouse hits the edge of the screen. As a result, if you grabbed too far from the top of the tree, you can’t always move it far enough to avoid the bird hitting it without releasing and regrabbing. I think you could probably fix this issue by replacing the system mouse cursor with your own and using the mouse velocity so that the mouse can leave the screen. I’m not sure I explained that well (or if that’s even the best way to fix the issue), but hopefully it made some sense.

Anyway, that was literally the only issue I had with the game. It was simple but super well polished and highly addictive! SUET!

A very clean idea for the theme. Great graphics! Much more fun then you would think it would be xD

Great job!

Great game! It was quite hard to hit the wasps which balanced the game really good!

The artstyle, especially the logo and cover art are very cool!

Congrats on creating this in 48h! Really cool game! I like it!

Great take on reversing flappy bird and you've done a great job polishing the game too! (love the voice lines haha)

Most Flappy Bird parodies seem to not change much, but this one works really well because the core is completely changed. It would have been easy to stop at "Flappy Bird but you can move the pipes" (which is already a solid core for a game), but this game has a different design completely. Having a draggable object for the score as opposed to every time a tree passes is a great idea and adds a dilemma for the players to decide how to solve: Is it worth it to spend my time for this extra score or is the risk not worth it? The voice lines also add a lot and wanting to hear them all adds another incentive to keep playing. I couldn't quite make out what some of the shorter ones were saying, though. The graphics were all nice and fit well- I really liked the small things like the particle effects on the leaves of the tree.

There are a few issues I had with this game, though. If you drag the tree up from too close to the top, your cursor won't move off screen and the tree will stop abruptly. After figuring out that dragging it from the middle eliminated this problem, I went with that instead, but I think it's something to take note of since it may be frustrating to new players. I also felt that the wasp's hitboxes were really hard to hit because of their movement. An idea for a way to improve this is to be generous with the hitboxes. For example, meaning that you may not click exactly where the wasp is but it still counts as a kill because it was close enough. Same for the player hitbox. If its hitbox was a little bit smaller, then they could still survive if they barely scrape the tree. I don't want to be too obnoxious- it's your game after all- but just throwing some ideas out there as I feel that games that are skewed a little bit in the player's favor make for experiences that the player often comes out of feeling better at.

Anyways, if you disagree with me that's totally ok! You know best when it comes to your own game. You have a really solid game overall and I really enjoyed my time with it. Good job and good luck with the jam results. :)

Your feedback is completely valid! I agree that the click area of the wasps is small and will be tweaked (and several other things) post-jam. Thanks for playing my game and giving me your feedback.

I’ve seen a few games take on this concept but the execution of this one was done really well!

I love the arcade vibe and the artwork is really pretty, having to micro-manage multiple things keeps the gameplay really engaging, I’m pretty bad at the trees though haha!

Love the silly SFX!

Thank you! I appreciate it!

Does a great job of tutorializing the mechanics. Relatively simple but definitely fun. If you expanded it with a few more mechanics and levels it'd be a really cute little game.

Not sure I feel about seed man though...

Good job!

That was great concept and overall package to it. It wasn't just 'reverse flappy bird' but iterated on that to have more mechanics that made sense with the concept! But the hitboxes were a little finicky, it was hard to click on the wasps sometimes, especially when near the trees.

great concept art, sound, and music; gameplay leans a bit to the hard side (though I feel it becomes significantly easier if you just use a scroll wheel for the tree, which I wish was mentioned in the beginning), but overall a good time!

Well done! Fun, easy to understand, and great aesthetics. It's definitely on the hard side and could use some balancing, but what you have is pretty great. I'd suggest making the colliders more forgiving (bigger for swatting wasps, smaller for collisions that kill you) to make things feel nicer.

Thanks for playing and the feedback! I'll be making adjustments post-jam! 👍

Super difficult, funny audio, couldn't get higher than the obstacle after 35 score idk if I got 40 score or not.

Good visuals. Good but hard gameplay.

A pretty rock solid game, with good visuals and audio.

My only real complain is that the wasps are a little bit hard to kill and the bird move in such a large sine wave that you can get your bird killed just because you don’t move the trees fast enough to avoid it.

Overall, great game.

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

In a future version post-jam I'll increase the click area of the wasps. I also wanted to do more advanced stuff with the bird's movement where it starts out simple then gets more varied as time goes on. Due to scope and time though, I put that aside as a possible bonus if I had time to spare.

Again, thanks for taking the time to play my game! 😊

So cool! had this kind of idea but didn't go for it. You definitely maximized it's potential. Love the sounds to haha.

The art and sounds are amazing. The different mechanics to spice up the relatively simple reversal idea makes a very engaging experience. The voice lines are especially great. (Sorry if there's multiple of my comment, the website was lagging and I sort of just spammed the comment button, my bad)

Loved the look sound and feel, definitely as tough and frustrating as the original. Good work.

Very highly polished. Also loved the little voice lines
