How does your game fit the theme?
1. Instead of a hero crawling through the dark lord's dungeon. The dark lord is sneaking through a human city. 2. instead of catching pocket monsters to use to fight, you're catching humans instead. 3. You can change your "role" by disguising yourself. This allows you to sneak past things or gain access to places you weren't able to before.

Liked the concept of gathering humans and using them as your fighters lol The disguising was nice as well, in all it was very well executed and fun
Thank you for the feedback! I feel like I overscoped, but I wish I could've added more types of humans and more exclusive things that you can only reach by using a specific human. Glad to hear it was fun!
a nice game! some polish could make the game better!! great job!
Thank you!
Hey! We both made games with a "Dark Lord" in them!
Very nice and unique take on the theme! There's a lot of different systems going on which is pretty cool. Also an interesting concept of trying to posses other characters to become them. Also impressive, in the game writeup you mention you didn't even use a game engine for this?? I think that deserves extra points! Lol also like "search for the UNholy grail" lol.
I tried a couple times but didn't win (left town once then died second time). Do you have to posses the chef guy to get into the museum? I kept on accidentally engaging him and killing him off. I think one thing that was slightly annoying is it seemed the energy to disguise didn't come back at all (or maybe it came back after a battle a little bit). Kinda made it slightly nervewracking trying to get around a guy disguised since it seemed like you had very little energy. But maybe thats the point and you have to kinda plan it all out.
Anyways though very impressive overall! Great work fellow "Dark Lord" creator!!
Hi fellow "Dark Lord" dev! Thanks for the feedbback. The title could've also been "search for the macguffin" and I kind of just picked randomly between the two because I didn't have enough time to really think about it. You have to disguise in order to sneak around and you can also take advantage of the different floors to get behind people. Energy does come back after you win a battle, but you do have to ration it pretty strictly. Thanks for playing! I tried out your "Dark Lord" game as well.
Very well done making the whole thing yourself! The concepts you came up with are fantastic, it reminds me a little bit of that game called Prototype that was on the PS3 I think.
Good job!
Thank you! I've uh never heard of this game "Prototype" before but it looks pretty cool!
Had fun playing your game, I love the concept! The music fits very well!
Thank you for playing! I'm glad to hear you had fun and liked the music!
Well done, the music was well fitting and the theme interpretation is great. Maybe in a next version after the jam you could add some post-processing to improve the graphics. But overall I enjoyed it. Well done.
Thank you for the feedback. I'm a bit new to this, is it okay if ask what are some specific ways I can add post processing/effects that I could add? I didn't use an engine to make this and just used HTML and Javascript. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Me too, I did my game without an engine and adding camerashake and postprocessing might be a bit complicated. My suggestion would be (it isn't real postprocessing but improves the graphics) to add some kind of shadows in the UI for example, or to make the screen darker on the edges to make it feel more creepy.
Overall still a great game, nice that you made that with HTML and JavaScript! Well done
Had a good time playing your game! I think I would've liked another way to get energy that wasn't just fighting. Congrats for you game!
Thanks! I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind if I decide to update this game.
I really love the overall concept of this game. Great work on pulling this together over the 48 hours!
Thank you!
Whoahh this is like two games in one! Lots of fun! Also great music! :)
Thanks! I did mix a bunch of different ideas together when making htis game. I'm happy to hear you had a lot of fun!
Disguising feels cool and balanced! Cool game! Good job!!
Thank you! Your game was really good as well!
Did not expect a whole battle system in here, was very impressed with how well executed the concept was. I loved the dynamic between choosing to be stealthy or battling everyone and I think the character switching to build up your party is a super fun idea that could be expanded a lot
Thank you! Party management was something I really wanted to implement but didn't have enough time to, I'm glad you still got a feel for what I was trying to go for in the game though! I'm also really happy to hear that you liked the two different "strategies" of playing the game with battling or sneaking.
I really liked the game and the music! I was definitely surprised when I started my first battle and there was a pretty epic theme playing haha. Great game overall, and please check out my game when you can :)
Thanks! Yeah, entering a battle with the battle theme playing is very sudden. I'll definitely give your game a try!
Very cool game! I really loved the mechanics and it was very unique!
Thank you!
Concept and mechanics wise its a really impressive game especially given the time constraints, i did not encounter any visual or game breaking bugs and actually tried to beat it quite a few times. i noticed you were trying to make your game playable with only one hand which is a control scheme that works most of the time, but for a game like this, which requires quite fast reactions, a two handed approach would be better (let left hand control movement and right hand control abilities) or if you wish to stick to a one handed approach, try to make sure the keys arent too far away, for example, the “R” input wouldve been better as either W(since i dont need to move up and down at the same time i need to capture a human) or as 2.
I already thanked you on discord, but I'll thank you again here! Thanks for the feedback! :)
It was very fun to play! I got a little bit addicted to it, so I hope that you will update it!
If you need any art for it feel free to hit me up! (I would LOVE to be part of this amazing game!)
The music had a very nice vibe to it and it's definitley one of my fav games of this jam so far!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you found it very fun. I may decide to expand upon this idea in the future, although I feel some of the systems in this jam version could definitely be reworked and improved. Thank you for the offer, I'll definitely consider it if I do decide to expand the game. Your game was amazing as well!
It is a very good game if you are just starting to create video games. The idea of the game is very good, I liked it. Maybe the graphics need to be improved, the music was good but there is a lack of sound effects that give feedback to the player and I think that sometimes it was not well understood what was happening in the game. Despite the defects it has, it is actually a good job, congratulations.
Thanks for the feedback and for streaming! I know that the sfx are lacking, there's literally only one and I don't think you even encountered it in your playthrough. I agree, clarity is something I really need to improve on, although under the time constraints I had to skip it. I know it was really late for you on the stream, but I feel you didn't really experience much of the game. I would really love it if you could try it again!
Hey we met on Discord! Neat! This is flipping AMAZING for your first jam game. AMAZING! The concept is GREAT and a unique idea (well, to me anyhoo) ... my constructive feedback would be to use fewer keys and try to do everything with just arrow keys + spacebar. I got a little confused remembering Q and E and R and all that. :) ... And in combat you should consider allowing players to click on the buttons. Think about it anyway, and make sure other players agree with me before changing anything. Nice work. Keep going. Ten thousand hours from now you'll make an award winning game, GUARANTEED. Your talent shines through.
Thank you so much for such positive feedback! Don't worry, a lot of other people were also saying the controls were a bit much. Clicking on the buttons in combat was definitely something I was supposed to add but slipped my mind until after the jam ended. Thank you for the encouragement! Good luck on the jam.
I really enjoyed the stealth aspect, however I never really found myself using the abilities.
Thank you for the feedback. I really wish I could've added more places where disguising as a specific person was required, but I really didn't have enough time. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the stealth though.
I really like the way the dark lord looks. The guy's ability "procrastinate" seems way too op tho
Thank you! The dark lord is probably the only decent drawing I made(that's why they're on the thumbnail). Yeah don't worry, the procrastinate ability will get nerfed in future versions, game jams really don't give you enough time to do balancing.
Quite the scope for a first time. It's not bad, but that control scheme needs to change xD
I agree, I really overscoped the game, I'm glad I was able to get some semblance of a city out the door before time ran out. Thanks for the feedback!
