fun little game with good physics and agreat difficulty curve! had fun!
Really cool!
The idea is very creative and the execution is great as well.
I like that the physics feel really natural and similar to real bowling.
This game was fun! It reminded me of going bowling, I always feel like the pins are moving away from me.
lol im glad we gave you a immersive bowling experience
Cool game ! I really liked the smashing mechanism and the animations
What a twist! I like this game a lot! So much fun to play! Great job!
I thought the game was too easy. Then the balls reflected off the walls. Then the fast balls came. Then the large balls came. Then the balls collided with each other. I didn't think the game was too easy.
It was a fun time and the you did a great job layering the mechanics to make it more interesting!
lol i'm happy that you had a cool experience!
also regarding layering the mechanics - I actually made a cool invisible "levels" system that progress you every 10 seconds into a different spawn pool, each with different stats and enemies. It's a rather basic thing but I'm pretty proud I could manage it in the short time frame and used it to create the basic tutorial and the rising diffaculty work, so thanks :)
That is super impressive! Thanks for sharing details; I would love to read a blog post about the game's development if you ever publish one.
I Dont think we'll be publishing a blog, as i made it with two random fellows i met locally, but if you're interested you can just look at the code, the git repository is public:
https://github.com/itaisinger/GMTK23Bowling
Here we are looking at the BallSpawnerScript.cs, specifically the levelUp function. Level is a int variable that increases each time you call this function. I made the ball spawning be random using a bunch of variable as the range in which it can be random, speed range angle range etc. The switch statement is what ties it all together.
The game manager calls this function every 10 seconds, which makes it increase the variables, and tweaking these lines i can basically create "levels", also downtimes and such.
Very good game! Very fun and creative! Good job!! I like the art too!
Fun game! The applause made me feel like the best player. Want to play again when I'm stressed out;)
Second Bowling game I have played from this jam but this one was actually really good. I love what you guys chose to do for the method of moving the pins it is creative, unique and works really well in the setting. I assume you get more points for having many pins for a long time or else you would just keep one pin alive the whole time. If that is the case I don't know what more you guys could have done it is a very complete game.
Great presentation! Smashing the pins felt really good. Just enough force on them to feel "right". This game needs an online leaderboard asap! :D
Quite fun! The art is really good. Controls are very intuitive. Very good simple game, well done.
Intuitive & Fun, I really liked the feedback of applause for doing something bad, and the explosions of course. I also liked the solution of the pins score multiplier and the difficulty escalation. GW <3
This is a great submission, i really like how you get more points for keeping more pins. The game looks and feels great, awesome job!
Fun, hectic physics game. It’s so fast and silly that you can’t really stay mad at it, and the Game Maker explosions were a nice touch. I will say I felt there were times the game “cheated” me into a hit by spawning extremely fast balls at times.
Played it a few times and my record was 650.
If you polish it up and pack it into an app, I could def see myself playing it while waiting for the bus.
thanks! The balls are completely random, we thought about making it smart by targeting or not targeting the player according to the time, pins left or whatever, but decided to keep it simple. Might look on the idea a second time if we do polish it and make it an app
Fun game! On my second play through, I tried to group all the pins for a single strike and it was satisfying even if I lost. Great job!
yep i definitely enjoyed it in testing weir too much
Very fun, I've sent this game to some friends of mine. It's started the first Pinned Down tournament!
awesome! Let me know what will be the winning score!
I think none of us is a pro player in this game. The best score was 754 :/
Nah thats quite high, i think my best it around 850. Gald you had some fun!
Great idea! I loved how easy it was to pick up. The applause sound effect was a fantastic touch.
that was really fun, good job man!
thanks!
This is a good-looing, fun game with an easy learning curve. The music doesn't loop but that's probably and easy fix, so it deserves max score in all criteria :D
Thansk a bunch! Yea i noticed the music just a bit before we published, i fixed it but unfortunately it was undone by some github mess. I'll fix it after the voting period.
Great game. Tried to smash a bowling ball with my hand and now I'm in intensive care.
lol. We though about adding it as a a feature, to be able to smash balls and then your hand is in cooldown, but decided to keep it simple in the end.
