Hey this is really nice! Cool to see a first-person game and a very creative and lovely one at that! Such a unique mechanic and it fits the theme perfectly. Could definitely be developed into a full game. Couple things (besides tighter jump controls but completely understandable given the jam time) that could be nice are 1. maybe a little more of a clue to click on the hour glass thing in the very beginning. I know I could just be dumb and 95% of people probably got it first time, but I swore I tried clicking it a couple times (maybe I only clicked the table part?) and it didn't do anything so I just continued along the island for a couple minutes till I couldn't go any farther, then I walked back. 2. Perhaps some sort of quick warp mechanic if you fall far. I fell once pretty much to the bottom. Luckily I must have activated some steps to get back up but it still took like another 30 seconds to reach the original place again. Of course these are very nitpicky gripes. Overall the game, setting, and ideas were all fantastic and you all deserve a ton of praise for what you have accomplished. Excellent job!!

Thanks so much! It definitely could use more polish, but we're really proud of how far we got over the 48 hours. I'll give your game a look too

Loved it.

This game is absolutely beautiful. Really impressed with what you were able to complete in 48 hours.

I feel like all this needs is slightly less janky jumps/collisions, maybe some collectibles (unless there are some and I just missed them), and it's done.

Or you could take it in a oracle-of-seasons direction and make it more puzzly. I think it's fine just being a chill, beautiful walking simulator, though.

It made me so happy when the music came in at the end, I just let it play out after beating it. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. I totally agree with your criticisms, and I might just polish this up once I've recovered from the jam a little more! Your game was awesome too! Total Baba is You vibes

This game was SO BEAUTIFUL. The atmosphere and the animations and the entire world building were so good. A lot of games take the theme of swapping between two worlds, but I can definitely say this is the best among them. I only wish that you picked maybe a color to represent when you swapped, so you could incorporate it more subtly than with the (still useful!) hourglass symbols. The path up the mountain was also really nice. I was gonna say it missed some ambient music, but the song when you hit the top was perfect. Definitely a sleeper game, would buy it if it had more puzzles!

Developer(+2)

Ahh I really appreciate it. The hourglass symbols were a little heavy handed but hopefully they kept the players on track. I really like the idea of an unseen other character who's left clues for you, but they could certainly be subtler if we had more time to polish. Thanks for taking the time to play our game!!

Holy hell, this is probably the best game I've played this jam. The visuals are astoundingly beautiful, and the gameplay is really cool. I did notice that if I jumped while I was against a surface I would sort of "stick" to the wall, but amazing work!

Developer(+1)

You're too kind, thank you. We were really proud of the visuals.

Beautiful presentation!

Thank you!

Nice job! I enjoyed switching between two environments as it created a unique atmosphere. The graphics too were really good and well made. Overall this was a solid entry and I had fun playing! :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks, really glad you enjoyed it! I'll check yours out as well!

This game is phenomenal, the graphics we great, the concept was great, and it fits the theme perfectly! Well done!

Developer(+1)

THanks for checking it out! Really glad you enjoyed it. Your game was fantastic as well.

This game has the best graphics I've seen so far - truly breathtaking. The controls were a bit finicky but overall, great job!

Developer(+1)

Wow thats super nice of you! Thanks so much!

Submitted(+1)

Honestly one the best games that i've played for this Jam!!! You guys did a really great job 🥳

Developer(+2)

Aww thanks so much! That means a lot. I'll be sure to give yours a look as well!

What a beautiful game, the frozen mountain and the rock mountain were both beautiful and I found myself just stopping to look up at the amazing image above me. This was truly a unique and jaw dropping experience.

I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong but I couldn't make a specific jump when the rock steps appear. Other then that, adding in some sort of beautiful sound track could really make this a masterpiece. Great job!

If you have time, check out my entry!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much. We're really proud of the visuals, so I'm glad you enjoyed them. The platforming is definitely something we'd have liked to improve upon, sorry it didn't quite measure up to the rest of the game. I'd be happy to give your game a look as well

The game looks great and flipping between the two mountains was cool. I felt like sometimes it would be unclear whether I could climb a certain area or not since the jump seemed to be inconsistent. Unfortunately I got rather motion sick playing this since the FoV was a bit low and the mouse sensitivity was rather high (or rather, my mouse sensitivity/DPI was probably high but I couldn't lower the look sensitivity in game).

Developer(+1)

Hey! If we could edit our game, we'd 100% add in that FOV slider. We just didn't have time to get to the setting menu. Really sorry for the motion sickness, and I hope you had a bit of fun in spite of it.

Very beautiful! The art really draws me in and I want more! The vibe reminds me very slightly of Myst which is really nice! And I'm very impressed that you made this in 48 hours!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Really appreciate you taking the time to check it out! I'll give your game a look too :)

Wow. That's a great game. Yknow, while I was playing I was making mental notes as to what I'd write in this comment. When I got the ice part of the hourglass, I thought the only way to teleport was to go to fixed stations, and I was going to write "Seems like a great idea, but it'd be better if you could teleport whenever you wanted". And then I got the other part of the hourglass, and suddenly I was playing "Effect and Cause" from Titanfall 2 (one of the best levels imo) mixed with Outer Wilds. I absolutely love that. If there's ever a version that's a bit smoother in terms of platforming, do let me know, I'll gladly play that game again

Developer(+2)

I’d really love to polish up the platforming in a later version! Thank you so much for powering through the rough bits, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the parts that we’re proud of!

This is absolutely beautiful! I love how the world represents the two versions of the same space in such a unique way. Exploring it is really fun.

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I'll be sure to check your game out as well.

Yayyyy I've been wanting to play some more 3d games in this jam and being a huge myst fan (and all the walking sims) this is just great. World building stuff is my fav :D Hope to see more in future!

Also the ending track is perfect and the UI design is very slick!

Submitted(+1)

Also I assume I was still standing at the top when .. splat :o

Developer(+2)

Yesss I'm glad we could do something a little different than a lot of the submissions in the jam. We think we managed to squeeze a lot of world in for the 48 hours we had. I'll check your game out as well :)

Submitted(+1)

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the aesthetic.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'll give your game a look as well

I love this! I love explore-y type games, and this just nailed it! I can totally see this being expanded upon and I love the flipping between the peaks. The music/sound effects were also super soothing :)

Developer(+1)

We're a fan of exploration games as well! Glad you enjoyed this experience! :) We're proud of the warp mechanics very much

Submitted(+1)

One of the prettiest games from the gamejam! The concept is cool and the island is fun to explore.

Developer

That means a lot to us! Thank you for playing, and we're glad you enjoyed it so much! :)

Submitted(+1)

Very unique idea and really cool environment! I really like the presentation of holding the two peaks and seeing them above. The controls were a bit awkward, but I'd love to see this idea expanded upon!

Developer

Thank you so much! We also love the idea very much! We're not exactly the best programmers, so we really appreciate that you enjoyed the game as it is :D We'll definitely see if we can expand this idea for future games!

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely stunning idea! Incredible concept, and a massive undertaking for a 48 hour project.

The level design was understandably a little rough due to the size and scope, but really well done nevertheless. Main critiques from a mechanical standpoint would be the clipping into other objects when flipping. Think there should maybe have been some sort of additional mechanic to somehow prevent that, though of course it would be a big technical challenge.

Slightly more in-game motivation towards the goal would also have been nice, something as simple as a cutscene at the base of the island panning to the peak would have sufficed for instance.

And of course, as others have mentioned, the controls were a bit touch and go, but I won't harp on that.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! We couldn't build a sophisticated clipping-prevention system in time, but we have one for parts of the game! I agree with you, and hopefully in the future we become more experienced to develop faster :)
