Ranked from 16 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
First we take a sport which requires its participants to live on the line between "in control" and at the mercy of the mountain. Snowboarding. What's unique about this game is to increase your score faster you can enable specific "features". These difficulty modes take away control from the player and give it to randomness

Still playing but  simple and fun with nice feel.

Playing a little bit and rate before buzzer :)

Developer

Thanks! Congrats on making it to the finish line!

Love the music and the general mood of the game! Am I missing something or is it impossible to get through the game with the "no jumping" option alone? :(

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, you're right. The goal was for it to be combined with "random jumping" but right now it serves as an example that some difficulty modes are prohibitively difficult to be used on their own. I think future versions might have ways around the grass or ramps to jump over the grass but for now its impossible.

The atmosphere here is spot on, a nice game to play after a long day at work. The different settings also added a number of interesting ways to play :) I think the game could benefit from perhaps a wider field of view and more randomisation of the obstacles would perhaps keep you a bit more on your toes, however these are both minor issues and can be easily fixed post jam :)

A really nice entry and I hope you continue with it once the jam is over. Good luck!

Developer

Yay thanks! This is great feedback because I definitely will keep working on it post jam! Maybe a fish-eye lens would be more snowboard like haha #GoPro

Yeah that would be a nice visual touch. Keep working on it and I'll be sure to check in  see how it's progressing!

Really fun and satisfying to play, especially when you are still going at really high speed. I found that the rocks spawn in regular horizontal intervals so if you kept in the same place you only had to dodge the grass.

Developer

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind as I balance the difficulty for the next version.

Avery unique take on the out of control theme.   I really enjoyed this and it reminded a lot of the really old game ski free.    Had a slight issue with the jump drifting in the air, at least at super high speeds, but generally everything was really response and well done.    Great concept and implementation.

Developer

Thanks! I'll have to tweak the "wind" a little. Maybe a visual/auditory queue for the wind would be a nice add-on. I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for checking it out

Developer

haha! I left the previous comment before realizing your game was about wind. Didn't realize I was talking to an expert!

This is great. Very chill experience. I really liked the post-death/invincible gameplay much more than I did the normal one, and I really don't know why. Well done!

With slowing down and speeding up I can score high, but I enjoyed sliding without slowing down.

Love that sense of speed.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll think about balancing the obstacles and camera distance to make that a more viable strategy if that turns out to be more enjoyable experience for a lot of people

Fully agree there is a strong zen-inducing aspect to the game. It was too easy to just keep pressing enter to try again. I made some selections in the difficulty settings that actually allowed my to go back uphill which greatly improved my shredding abilities. The one I don't quite get is the no jumping difficulty setting. How would you get over the grass that way? or is that one a no-go?

Overall, I like it!

Developer

Thanks!! Glad to hear about the positive effect of the uphill movement. Initially no-jumping was intended to be usable when combined with random jumping, but for now it serves to show that not all modes are usable. Maybe in the future there will be a time-interval-jumping and players can use that to succeed when combined with no-jumping.

I just have one question: what a crazy snowboarder he is, why would he choose the mountain with such a crazy amount of rocks ahahah. But seriously, the game is fun to play. Kind of wish it had more obstacle types and abilities for "speed with shield" etc., but for a game jam in 48 hours, I think it's a fun and good game! Would be perfect for the mobile, maybe? (not so sure about implementing controls, though). Anyways, good job and good luck!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Speed with shield is a great idea! Tweaks that help the player a little could be a good idea too

I liked the relaxed nature of the game. I think it might benefit from having the camera show more ahead of the snowboarder, especially when the player is going down super fast. I also had a weird bug where often when I jumped the player would shoot off to the left, most the time going straight off of the map. Whilst it wasn't too frequent, it was annoying to feel like I lost through no fault of my own. Still overall a nice experience that could become a decent mobile game post jam

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I've been thinking about adapting for a mobile game post-jam. Glad you agree!

I'm sorry you experienced the bug with jumping, but thankful you brought it to my attention. I added a little bit of "wind" so the character would drift a little if you jump really high. I suspect the flawed logic could be there.

Very chill game. There's a good sense of speed, and I came to appreciate the zen nature of it once I got going. Got a high score of 116 with default settings. Not sure how you're supposed to get very far without jumping?

Developer

Thanks for the kind words and congrats on taking our new high-score!

I'm happy you enjoyed the base gameplay of casually carving down the mountain. I wanted to recreate the satisfying smoothness of snowboarding.

The idea behind "No Jumping" was that you might be able to combine it with other modifiers like "Random Jumping." Pretty hard to do in practice. This allows the player to discover and decide which modifiers and combinations they think are worth enabling.

Fun little game! I especially liked your YouTube videos on it. The modifiers, such as random jumping, can certainly make for a better experience.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm happy you liked videos and the modifier concept!
