Pretty neat. Basically turns in to a memory game. Maybe you could have made some of the passages two panels wide so the player has the chance to make some backtracking - they could scout out a little while they have tiles to return to where they were. Maybe this would add a bit of strategy? I dunno, nice work nonetheless!

I think this idea has a lot of promise, but maybe it could work a little better if you started with a short maze and went on escalating their sizes? Maybe I'm just not very good at mazes, and I know mazes shouldn't be easy to traverse, but I think the game would be a little bit more fun if it was a little bit more welcoming!
Nice job, though! Really like the idea!

A fun maze game! The movement felt a little slow, but other than that it was solid! well done!

Developer

thanks for playing! In the Short time we had we already multiplied movement by 4. Something we could look into fixing for our post jam build.

Loved the idea you had to remember the map and you had to commit to the path you'd chosen. I got a little lost after going through the yellow door, but overall I really enjoyed this game. Great work!

Its a maze after all ;)

Thanks for playing !

Enjoyed this! Something I noticed - movement was a bit uneven, until I passed through the portal and it was smoothed out. I like the zooming out after you die for a few seconds, which gave me enough info each time to keep progressing. Though I did send J.E.F.F. to his death perhaps a few times more than I should've!

We also made a game for the jam, would really appreciate it if you checked it out and gave us a rating :) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463422

This is quite fun. I found some elements, like the key, a bit difficult to see. The game started to chug on every frame where a tile was supposed to drop after a few deaths, but that might just be my older computer.  The fact the maze is only fully visible for a few seconds, and only after you die, is a great mechanic. It makes short-term planning much more valuable.

Good job, everyone. I hope this does well.

Thanks for playing our game.
I am planning on fixing a few bugs after the rating is over

What about the weird tilted camera?

Developer

its was done on purpose , but we could definitely

tweak the angle.
