I really like the design of the dialogue system it,s well made, and the novel visual story really pops together with the backgrounds art, music, and sounds used really suit well together nice jo guys. Would you mind trying out my game and rating it according :)

Nice blend of visual novel style + sidescrolling shooter. You guys did a great job! I do think hitting walls hurting you is a little brutal.

Nice backstory and game design kudos!

Awesome!!! As a big 8-bit fan I just love this, and the added mix of the cut scenes / back story was well done (maybe a fast forward option would have been nice, or did I just miss it?). Anyway, brilliant game all-in-all!

Fantastic work! I really enjoyed the mix of elements. The combat and upgrade system reminded me of some classic shooters like Tyrian and Raptor. I always loved the extra feeling of progression and customization they had with picking what to upgrade next. Your narrative segments tied it all together really nicely and there was plenty of rewards for thoroughly exploring them. Again, really great work!

Incredible game  guys, really good

Wow! This is great, especially for having been done in 10 days. Graphics, music, sound, story, and tie-in with the theme all were right on. Great job!

This is great!! I wish I could say I beat it, but that ending bit where you're in that room and ships just SPAWN IN NEXT TO YOU in a line on top and bottom...it's obscenely brutal for me, but I was never great at arcade games. I think I would also soften the penalty for touching the walls.

Otherwise, I love all the rest of it, and I think it's very well-executed. Great job!!

Developer

Thanks for playing. We didn't really get much time for playtesting in the end so it's great to get comments like this so we can go back and improve it:)

Really liked this one, well done! I got stuck here not knowing what to do so I killed myself

Developer

Thanks for playing and well done for effectively finishing the game. Looks like there's an issue with that section, it's supposed to start scrolling again once you defeat the spinny thing:)

Wow! Finally, a side-scrolling shrump! I think that's the right name. Love these types of games, like Salamander and R-Type. Very inspiring thanks :-)

Wow, this game is incredibly diverse, with a multitude of exciting elements. I really enjoyed the concept, and the gameplay itself was pretty good. The shooting aspect could use some polishing, but it still provided a fun experience. One minor issue I noticed was that the ship hitbox seemed to extend a bit too far underneath, making it challenging to fly close to the ground without colliding. Nevertheless, overall, I think you did a fantastic job on the game. By the way, if you're open to it, I would love it if you could give my game a try too.

I really enjoyed the story bits.  They felt meaningful and seemed to build an interesting world.  It was nice that they tied into the shop which then led into the shooter.

The shooter part was a bit more rough, but still fun to play.  I think there may be an issue with the ship hitbox going too far under the ship that was causing some issue flying low to the ground without hitting it.  Would have also been nice to have a bit more variety (or better yet choice!) in the shooter level, but this was great for the time given.

It would also be interesting if the rescued people became a resource as well.  Perhaps the company hires them and then you generate some standing income each week based on the number rescued.

Well done overall :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! I like your idea about the rescued people becoming a resource. Makes me think of XCOM.

Developer

Thanks for playing :D. Yep, I had same idea of using rescues as new NPCs you'd meet during the day and create new encounters. However the time too short to implement it all and make the game stable enough to play.

Fantastic idea, I really enjoyed this!

A very broad game with so many different aspects, I liked the idea and the gameplay itself was alright, maybe the hitbox on the spaceship was a bit unforgiving which might give players a bad feeling about it, but other than that good job!

pretty much content in here, I appreciate the hard work in this! polish it even more will make it more fun! good job finishing the game!

Wow. This game has so much content in it for a jam game. Not easy to make a stable game with all those features and systems. Loved that you paid attention to world building and story while keeping it engaging. Very fun experience.

The game was such a fun experience, my favorite parts were the visual novel parts where you interacted with the other people but i wish there were more of that. I liked the fact that you have to manage your money and such to upgrade the ship.
But i felt the space shooter part was a bit to difficult starting out, also the collision damage is crazy i'd suggest making the background and the foreground contrast each other more so it was clear on what could and could not hurt you.

Also would have liked the levels to be randomly generated instead of being the same level over and over again

I also think that maybe the equipment is a bit overpriced.

Overall it was a well made game good job!

Wow, it was really a brilliant game and I enjoyed it a lot.

I didn't expect the game to be structured like this and was really surprised at how well you packaged it. Because of the fun factor, I also took the time to really try and explore the game and I'm really excited. Of course, there's room for improvement here and there, but in 10 days it was really quite a statement :)

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for your kind comments :)

Fantastic stuff! Great interplay between gameplay and story, solid mechanics, and fun shooting! For a jam game, it's a really good effort. The environments and the ships could maybe have had the same (or similar) pixel size, but one uses what one can. :) I did not quite manage to finish it, as after killing the big spinny boss thing at the end, I always get killed by the constantly-spawning enemy ships before I can...make my escape? Not sure what I should do. I also noticed that the shop seems to be randomized every week, meaning I can't e.g. save up for a medium shield or something, I just have to hope there's something I can afford there when I get there.

The biggest gripe I have is actually click-to-shoot. I understand you have the secondary attack attached as a charge-up when you hold down the mouse button, but this is the kind of game where you will literally always want to be shooting. I would suggest making the cannons fire when you hold down the mouse button (or space), and move the charge-up of the special attack to another button - like mouse 2, or F, or something :)

Anyway, great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and well done for getting to the end (almost). I agree with you about the pixel size difference, definitely would like to find better matching environments, wasn't so easy with the time available. Good idea for the shooting too

This one caught me by surprise- I wasn't expecting a VN / shoot em up mashup! I didn't finish, but if I had more time I'd give it more time! Good effort, great idea! well done

Thanks for playing:)
