This is great! Something about this game just brings a smile to my face!

Developer

I pretty much had a smile on my face from ear to ear the whole time making it!

Very well named, I panicked a lot about those portals. I went into the game without reading the description, so the first time through I immediately sent all my villagers into the portals and lost!

I don't have the APM or the coordination to do well in these types of games, but at least I can have sixth place on day one! One day I should find out how to do leaderboards, they add a ton of replayability to games like these!

The art is especially great, I love the expressions on the monster's faces when you grab them to deprive them of a meal! :)

I had never made a leaderboard until this jam!  We did this game leaderboard using https://lootlocker.com/ and honestly, it was easier than I would have expected!  Ty for the review <3

Ooh, thank you! I'll take a look at lootlocker once my brain recovers from being jammed out! :D

The mechanics are quite creative and the art style is very good. I just couldn't quite understand what I was doing. Either way cool game.

Thanks for playing~! I'm afraid the game isn't as intuitive as we would have liked. The goal is to sling farm animals through portals before monsters spawn out of the portals. If the monsters spawn, you can slingshot them through a portal to get rid of them. Monsters will try to eat your livestock and people, and if you run out of people, you lose. You can get more lives, though, by dragging one of each farm animal to the house on the far right that says 0/3 above it.

Anyway, appreciate your feedback! Thanks for checking it out :D

another stunning looking game, maya. and a great accomplishment for the whole team. that game is complete!

pet-peeve:
it took me 3 games to realize that you have to put the animals into farm directly and not slingshot them into it (which - quite honestly would have been my preferred way of transport)

I had this thought a couple of times while we were play-testing the game haha!  Maybe it would have been more consistent with the other game play mechanics!  Thanks for the kind review.

Hey, jcmonkey! Thanks for playing. Unfortunately we're dealing with a bit of a bug with the portal spawning. If you made it far, you probably saw them go exponential XD haha. We are working on a fix for that. But thanks for hanging out with me on stream and playing our game~! Gonna play yours and maybe make it further this time. Also hoping there will be some people on stream tonight who wanna check out cool jam submissions and talk jam victories ^-^

Super cool game. I really enjoyed the leaderboard as that was something we had considering making a game that would use one but didn’t get around to figuring out how. I will definitely be taking a peak at that code ;) Great game though, was quite fun to play. No comments on it other than maybe explain why you would want to trade animals for people or if there is any importance on the difference of animals.

Developer

Thanks for playing! If you're interested in implementing a leaderboard, try Lootlocker. That's what we used for our game , and they have a YouTube tutorial that shows you how to get it all set up :)

As for animals/humans, the humans are your lives. So having a chicken get eaten doesn't hurt you as much as having a person get eaten. We definitely needed to find a way to make that more clear, though. And to indicate to the player that they can pick up the monsters and sling them into portals to get rid of them.

I like the style and feel of this game, very nice!

Concept is great, like angry bird but fun in another way. There's no story and any directions why are we saving the animals from monster except for being a good guy here :) Would play if there are more gameplay elements, like story, progression through levels, more enemy types, more animals to save etc.

love the concept of this game, it starts out really slow and gives you a chance to figure things out before speeding up and really challenging you. It should be made a little more obvious that you can throw the monsters back through the portals.
