Wish I'd found this during the review period - though was definitely worth the post jam playthrough :)

I like to take my time in these things so I cleared it in 21 mins 5 secs, lol. I liked how there were clear shortcuts through each level for time-attacking (and avoiding that tricky spiky zone on the last level!!)

Had some 'Alone in the Dark' vibes playing this one - the part in AITD2 where you play as Grace (yup showing my age here). Although the princess has more tricks available to outsmart the enemies so didn't feel quite as defenceless. It being difficult to avoid the guard's attacks added to the sense of menace - liked that too. Great game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing! :D And for getting all the way through the game, that's the main accomplishment no matter how long it may have taken.

I haven't played any of the Alone in the Dark games but I have heard good things about them, so I'll definitely take the comparison as a compliment. :)

It felt like the beginning of a JRPG. Well done, loved the music. Camera was a bit wonky, I don't know if this can help you but look up Catlike Coding, maybe you can find his camera controller useful. Thanks for sharing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I'll give Catlike Coding a look, I think I saw a tutorial there on particle effects some time ago.

I had a chuckle when I first pressed space and turned into a pancake

The game is fun and the castle has a real sense of scale. My only gripe is the camera controls (sensitivity is a tad too high, but you get used to it, bigger problem is the limits at looking up and down, really noticeable when going on staircases). Never thought how many posibilities in level design you can have just by being able to go flat. Will revisit the game later to finish it and see if it got any updates.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! The camera definitely needs more work, sorry about that! I had to play around with the sensitivity to balance it between mouse and gamepad and could have done a better job on it.

Submitted(+1)

Great concept, I can see this expanded into a full game.

I think the camera is a bit to jumpy for me and made me lost in the levels at some times.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm sorry for the camera, it needs a lot of work!

I love this mechanics of the game, so surprisingly cool, i really enjoyed it! Great job!

Sometimes it's difficult to find a crack in the wall, maybe make it somehow more obvious so that you can see it at an angle?!

P.S. The sound of a disappointed sigh of the guardian is hilarious xD i like it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

You're definitely right that the cracks in the wall need to be made more obvious, I think a lot of them could be made much wider and the smaller ones can be saved for secret areas.

I also really love the guard sounds. 😄

The concept idea is really great, turning the 3D mesh to a 2D one to help navigate through the level is great, though locating these places where you squeeze yourself through was quite tough with the level environment being so similar, I think adding a place hint for level required areas is better but not for the hear areas

The heart collection addition is a great choice, they’re well-hidden and it’s satisfying to find them

Got stuck on the second level :D, I really wish finding the squeezing areas was easier, great game overall

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for your indepth feedback! The way through second level is definitely more difficult to find than I realized, it needs a hefty overhaul.

I did try playing your game, but as a solo player I wasn't good enough to handle two screens at once and so I couldn't give you a proper review. :(

It’s fine, even I couldn’t test it well since I had no one to test it with :D

Yes, I forgot to mention, the camera can get really grazy if it was close to the toa wall, please fix this too

This game is very well done, and very fun to play. Great work!

Thank you very much for playing! :)

I laughed a lot when she sqeezed on the ground and the mechanics were very good I really enjoyed it

Developer

Thank you for playing, I'm glad it got you to laugh! :D

I really enjoyed this one. A cool mechanic that made it interesting to explore the levels and find unconventional hiding spots.
Also a good variety in the use of the idea (Stealth, platforming, navigating). Feels like its a got a lot of potential.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. :D

Impressive mechanics, especiall in three forms changing. The great thing to mention is that your consideration of the using of camera, the perspective of camera for each form is thougtful, I really like that. so much fun image for gamedevtv, that's good one. Anyways, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I think you're the first person to say something positive about the camera. 😅 I appreciate it!

I had fun with this game. Very cool puzzle design and some unique ideas!

Developer

Thank you, I'm very glad you had fun! :D

This fits the theme so well, great job! I love how you can squish on the X, Y, or Z axis depending on the hole, it's really clever and makes for some great puzzle design! The huge heads on the guards kind of freaked me out though :P

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed it! :) The guards are... very noticeably different in their proportions, just assume it's all that armor they're wearing! :D

Submitted(+1)

I love the concept! And also the story, never wait for a hero!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I feel like there are a lot of stories in video games about princesses being kidnapped, but not that many about them finding a way to escape on their own.

Submitted(+1)

You're right! That's why I love yours ;-)

Submitted(+1)

Very cool mechanically, I did wish we had a map to display our current position in the room or a way to more easily identify cracks. I did forget where I came into one of the rooms and had to spend some time combing walls to find my way back. It was a fun and unique play!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! I could definitely stand to get better with my level design, especially to make it clear to the player where they have and haven't been. I didn't properly consider how much my own familiarity with the levels was affecting the ability to navigate them.

Submitted(+1)

I love the mechanics of this game! A very unique way of tackling the theme too! Nice submission!

Developer

Thank you very much for playing! :)

A nice cool game that follows the game jam theme well. I love the pics of the GameDev.TV guys on the walls :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I really enjoyed stealing borrowing art for the portraits. :D

Submitted(+1)

That was a very interesting concept and very well executed! Well done.

I couldn't get past the guards on the second level though. When I jumped in the picture, he never left.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! The guards 'should' eventually give up but it's possible some of the paintings aren't placed properly to hide the player from their sight. Originally I wanted guards to be able to hit the player out of paintings if they witnessed the attempt to hide, implementing that properly fell by the wayside when working on other areas, thank you for the reminding that I should go have a look at it. :)

A very cool adventure and challenge! Neat use of 2D vs 3D, I love the story, the game operates smoothly, and I love that multiple levels were made in this timeframe! Congrats, you did awesome!

Developer

Thank you very much! :)

This is so well done. Such a cool concept for a game and the switch is implemented so intuitively. The music and sound design is another portion of this game that are great, the sounds while switching dimensions just feel "right". Very well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you felt the sounds turned out well, I think I lucked out when searching for them. :D
