You really put some thought in these puzzles! Very well done!

Developer

That's really nice to hear from you, thank you for playing!

Very clever puzzles, though admittedly lvl 11 was a little too punishing for me, what with the long setup time. Still, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. Your progress is saved, so you can have another go at it at any time!

Oh that's very cool. By the way, I've always wondered how people actually go about designing puzzles like these - what's that process look like? (if you have the time to say)

Developer(+1)

For me, it started with the theme which helped me make the mechanics. Then I made a list of interactions between each object and drew a bunch of levels that would introduce the mechanics and how the player can interact with objects. All on paper! Then start coming up with challenging levels that use those mechanics in combination with other mechanics.

Currently the only objects are walls, boxes, hearts, humans, ghosts and Ghostman in the game. I had a bunch of other mechanics I had thought of but slimmed down in order to make creating levels more streamlined. What I learnt from this game jam is that limiting what the player is able to do means you can tailor a puzzle to what they can do.

There's a couple of specific methods like reverse designing, where you set the goal first and then find ways to stop the player from getting to the goal. Designing a single level around a specific theme/concept/name/image. Pathway design where you start by placing the player and create a specific route you want them to take. And many more that I'm sure other game jammers here would be more familiar with.

But if you asked me IRL I'd say coffee and free time haha.

Developer

Thanks for playing my friend!

Awesome game, nice mechanics! Challenging and really well polished puzzles! Maybe a bit too challenging, because I could not pass level 8. But to be fair, I gave up too easily :D Really well done, congratulations! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Feel free to try again any time, your progress is saved!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, then it's even more amazing! Keep up the good work! :)

Great little puzzle game. Nice variety of mechanics needed to solve the puzzles.

Developer

Thank you for playing. You are indeed a cool fox!

Submitted(+1)

Very creative game! I really liked the puzzles you created and I felt really smart when I got some of them :D I would have liked a restart hotkey and the boxes where not allways that easy to push right where you wanted them to be. Maybe they would be better if they moved more rigidly like always one unit in the pushed direction?

Developer(+1)

I definitely agree! That's the challenge of continuous vs discrete movement there for ya! I'll be trying out discrete tile based movement if I make this into a full game in the future, see if it feels better. Thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoy! I appreciate the feedback too my man, looking forward to more boss fights in your game.

Awesome puzzle game, it is clever and very nicely done! I would probably change music but this is only me :P

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Great puzzle game, really had me thinking on some of those levels. Really good balance between being easy at the start and gradually getting harder. Great submission!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Awesome!

Great way to build a puzzle around the theme! Loved it!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it ^_^

mind-blowing puzzles. I actually reached level 11.

Developer(+1)

Haha, thank you! Congratulations! Getting to 11 is a real toughie. If you have time, come back and try it again! Your progress is saved ^_^

Submitted(+1)

oh is it ? i will finish

Submitted(+1)

found a way to cheese the game 😅while resetting the game you just keep holding down the movement keys diagonally it will pass through other ghosts. sorry about this 😅 aside from that movement was good, and I really like the puzzle mechanics and made me think 🙌

Developer

Haha nice! Thanks for the rigorous testing. I think I can add a small delay at the beginning of each level load that ignores player input, that'd probably fix the problem. Seems like the colliders take a hot second to load in. I'm glad you like it!

The real challenge awaits on Stage 12 ;)

Submitted(+1)

Really good - love the aesthetics.  Puzzle games are hard to do so good job on tackling it and making it challenging.  Really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

Congrats on completing the jam! I enjoyed the puzzles, they were well done! I can't think of anything to add except "more levels!"

Developer

Haha more levels might be coming in the future! I'm glad you enjoyed. Thanks a lot for playing!

That was fun. It reminded me "Baba is you".

Only one question: why can't I be the cat! :o)

Keep it up!

Developer

Haha, thats a good idea! I could add unlockable characters in the future.

Thank you for playing!

Interesting game similar to baba yaga but easier.

Got stuck a bit on stage 5 before i realized i can push heart onto ghosts.

Developer

Thanks for playing! :D

Love the unique mechanics and design of the levels! Feels very polished too

Interesting and novel mechanics. Loved the design and puzzle. A brilliant little game. Very fun, and very challenging.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing!

I'll be sure to check out your game soon!

Really enjoyed this game a lot! Could see the Baba is You inspiration, yet definitely not a copy of it, very refreshing! The controls were responsive and albeit you used a lot of free assets; I applaud you for actually finding those that fit together well which helped create a really good mood.

The gameplay was fun, I loved the introductionary stages, good submission! The one thing that sort of felt weird to me was when the camera seemed to have suddenly changed (all sprites were smaller), besides that, really good submission! Congrats!

Developer

Thank you very much for playing and the feedback!

I'll be sure to check out your submission soon too!

Hey Lewis, you created a very very cool game here.
Visuals & mechanics are very very fun - and the level design / puzzle building - really amazing job. Couldn't beat all the levels (yet!) but the ones I managed after some rethinking here and there were definitely very enjoyable - obviously hit the Theme 5/5 and everything else really fits well, GG!

Developer

Thank you very much! Be sure to try again if you have the time ^_^

I'll be sure to try out your submission soon too!
