Sooo, here is my random comment for votes:
Amazing game, dude. I both love and hate Justin. It was really fun figuring him out and you did an amazing job with the script. Congrats!

Developer(+1)

thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game!

I'll vote your game soon, you got me XD

Fun

Did not enjoy it at all. You are forced to select choices you don't agree with just to get to a 2D platformer.

Aesthetics

Black and white. Fits a style. Outside of that it is just boxes and circles. Not awful but not great

The font was nice.

Music

Music was good and felt professional.  I am impressed that you made the music yourself.

Sound

Didn't hear a lot of sounds but what I did hear never intruded on the game itself.

Mechanics

Not a fan of forced dialogue, especially just to play a game jam.  Restarting the dialogue when you say something wrong was just annoying.

Story

Usually I give points for just having a story. However, this story was super cringey. I hated both the narrator and the player.  Being forced to act nice, then flip flop and be brutally honest was confusing.  Seems like there are some mental issues being presented in this game jam that I couldn't relate to.

Theme

You restart when you die. That does fit with the game jam theme, and it is a bit unique to see it used in dialogue. I appreciate the experimentation, but I strongly disliked the end result.

The game stuck to a mental illness theme with music, colors, and mechanics. Good job.

Thanks for the feedback. While developing the game, I took into account that the game would have not been for everyone, since frustrating games are like "you hate it or you love it". Thanks for playing, and for appreciating the music! I have a music background, so I can compose. What I can't do properly is the technical production, but I am kind of capable.

I enjoyed my medieval dance music, 10/10 would pick again

Developer(+1)

YES finally someone mentioned the music :D glad you appreciated the medieval dance. My favourite is the "Emotional piano", makes me cry XD

Submitted(+1)

i enjoyed talking to this justin and really like the whole idea itself!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad to hear you enjoyed the game

Wow super creative the writing must have been a hell of a task to accomplish great job! The meta humor was on point! But I do have to admit that I am not built for such games and used frankly and was very glad that it was implemented! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you appreciated the easy mode :D

Submitted(+1)

This game is really amazing i loved so much playing it, the humor in particular was crazy I don't remember the last time I had so much fun playing a game! really really well done!

Complimenti ancora!

Developer

Thanks for playing! And glad you enjoyed the game! :D

Friggin Justin made me grow some grey hair, but damn if it wasn't fun and entertaining throughout. Excellent humor, solid writing & fun sense of accomplishment whenever you dodged Death - and actually reached the plattformer just to .... you know ^_^ GG!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the game!

I did not make it to the end so someone needs to fill me in on anything fun I missed x) I tried, but that damn narrator...  It was amusing though and I had fun seeing its reactions to my answers. I feel like I would have tried again and maybe made it to the end if I didn't have to keep switching over with the mouse from the answers to the continue button each time. When you've died a lot, that gets tedious, so it would help if you could just press space or enter or something to continue instead. Anyway, 5/5 humor.

Developer

Thanks for playing! If you want to see the end, I just added an easy mode, right now! It should take you like 3 minutes to get to the end. If not, thanks for playing! Sorry, the game wants to be frustrating :D

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely infuriating in the best way possible 🤣 I loved the concept but felt it became more of a memory game of which path I took as I progressed further. I love the uniqueness of the theme though. Congrats on the submission!

By the way I just noticed I've been playing and rating a Frank rather than a game this whole time. "Rate this Frank" That's a nice touch 😆

Developer

Thanks!

Yes, ideally I wanted the player to "know" the interlocutor, and guess the right choices at a certain point. But, you know, that's a difficult task XD So I guess it's actually a memory game at the end. I plan to add an option in the future to highlight the choices already made.

Thanks for playing! Glad you appreciated the game!

LOL... You nearly had me quit. Nice idea and very nicely breaking the 4th wall. ... And I was very happy when it did not kick me back to the beginning anymore.

I think using ink here would have been a great thing. You can do really nice story branching and weaves with it... and it's all free. https://www.inklestudios.com/ink/ There are easy branches when you hit a node for the n-th time and other fun stuff.

Developer

Thanks for the suggestion! I know the existence of Ink, but actually never tried, since it's first time I experiment this kind of game. I'll have a look, just in case. Happy you kept going up to the end, brave man!

Thanks for playing!

that AI is really annoying ,LOL took some time, I kept wanting to Quit but I could not,  I made it to then end and Guess  what  I DIED!!  AHHHH rage game 101 .  I don't really play text games but this was interesting. Nice Work

Developer(+1)

Ahah you are one of the brave men that reached the end. Be proud, it's not for everyone XD

Yes, my intention was to do a game that wants you to quit, but then you don't, since you have the curiosity to see what's next. I guess it works with a few people, but for them should be fun.

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

It was really enjoyable! It was a very fun idea to mess with the player like you did and you did it pretty well.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

Most fun I've had in an indie game since i started learning. This was both brilliant and a masterpiece. I didn't hear any music when i played but a viewer in the stream said there was music in the platformer section. So not sure about that but it's a brilliant game. Awesome.

Submitted(+1)

My bad about the music. My earphones volume was right down. Your game is perfect.

Developer

Damn I lost the stream! I wanted to attend, but I was called in a sudden job meeting :( sorry about that. Glad you enjoyed the game! Hope you had fun with it. Maybe it's not ideal for streaming, since there is a lot of text and not much action, but whatever XD

Do you have a link to your stream, so that I can have a look? I would love to see  a reaction, since I did not have any play testing, and honestly I don't have a clue on how much frustrated a person can get while trying to get to the end :P

Thanks a lot for the nice words!

Playing submissions for the Gamedev.TV Game Jam https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2022 #GDTVJAM - Twitch   it's the very first game. Sorry if my laughing is too loud :)

Glad you laughed XD

Great submission, fun little text game with a great humor added to it.

Developer

Thank you for playing, and glad you liked the game!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the humour but I didn't get very far, I kept forgetting which was the correct dialogue choice and dying. Based on the other comments I don't think I got very far at all. I got that I had to cooperate but not be too friendly but I still died repeatedly.

Developer

Sorry about that. I think I am going to add a feature that highlights the choices already done, so that game is less frustrating (even though, I want it to be frustrating :P). Thanks for playing in any case!

Developer

If you want to see the ending, I added an easy mode.

Submitted(+1)

I really liked your humour, had a great time discussing in the after life :-)

Developer(+1)

Ahah thanks! Glad you enjoyed the game!

Submitted(+1)

Fun interesting with more to it then first thought! I do wish my small brain could remember how I died each time though >.<

Developer(+1)

Glad you appreciated the game! Yes, I am sorry for the lack of user experience... you know, developed this "thing" in no time. I think I'll add a feature that change the color of the text already explored

Thank you!

Developer(+1)

If you want to see the ending, an easy mode is available. Red text indicates choices that lead to death. While the game is probably less fun, you can see the ending, if you want to :)

Submitted

awesome :3

Submitted(+1)

Very witty game and a nice platformer at the end too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Great that you reached the "platformer", that's not for everyone :D

Submitted(+1)

Wow great twist on the text genre. You did a great job on the dialogue, so much so that I was shocked that there was more to the game. Great work!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed playing!
