Thats like made me thinking, cool game!

It's really tough to make a card game work in the small span of 10 days, but you did a great job with what you have. I love the space and elder gods theme, good job!

Developer

Ya, I may have been  a bit ambitious. The card mechanics were a lot harder than anticipated. Thanks for the encouragement and the nice feedback.

Submitted(+1)

complex and compelling card game! Nice to have something different :).
Can see the amount of work thats gone into this, well done!

Developer

Thank You! I appreciate the kind words. I had real deck builders in mind, like Race for the Galaxy and Dune Imperium etc... I love Deck Builders.

I tried it first, then read the entire instructions (which was very well detailed), and then tried it again. It still felt complex but worked out really nicely. I really like that complexity, the work your team put in is incredible. I like the story and everything too, really good work! I hope you find time to flesh it out some more.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I agree it is complex, I am sure that the tutorial also feels like a wall of text but I hope the cards I provided at the start help kick start the fundamentals. I am glad you liked the idea.

Congrats on completing the jam! Took a bit to figure out the flow but it was a neat concept once I wrapped my head around it. I liked the take on the theme. I'm glad there is a zoom, but I would love if the cards were a little bigger by default. :)

Developer

I agree I need to find a better starting size for cards, I wanted to make sure the whole board was visible for the Jam  as I did not think it would be wise to make people scroll to see it before knowing how to play. I was not sure if I was even going to be able to get the zoom in but I made it.  Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated.

Nice game! Was a little confusing at first but great concept!

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept. I was a bit confused at first but then I eventually I understood the game (probably not completely XD). I would recommend some cool sfx or vfx when using the cards (if you got time or want to work on the project further) , as for another major critic is that have an enemy AI or some kind of opposing force  but that is up to you, since adding a opposing AI might take away from the uniqueness of your game. Overall, well done!!

Developer

I envision it with a lot better visual effects as well. Effects for when they move, shuffle, get played, and on the art itself. One of the big feel bads for myself was that I had an unexpected issue that caused me to have to submit 3 days before the end of the Jam. That kept me from getting any sound effects in at all. That is just a feedback no-no. Sounds bring the level of a game up by magnitudes. I do want sound effects like a swoosh, and shuffle sound, explosions, etc... As for the AI, I was modelling this off of a solo card experience for Deck Builders. If I had gotten in the draw mechanics and some more of the cards I had imagined, I think it would feel more antagonistic. Will have to work on it, and try to get that in and tested to see if it really needs to have an AI, or maybe just make it a multiplayer game. I like and agree with all your feedback, thank you for taking the time to provide it.

I am not much of a card gamer so take my feed back with a grain of salt as it is not coming from a experienced player of that genre. And I also replayed the game to see if I missed anything. But right now, the game feels much more of an luck based game than a skill/knowledge driven game.  Sometimes, it takes a long time to find the right card that I need, especially the feeding card. I would recommend turning the feeding card into a skill that you can just click and drag to consume the cards at anytime you want instead of waiting for it to appear on the deck. And also I ran out of cards and could not draw cards anymore, so I could not progress the game.
I would say focus on the gameplay, (build upon it so that the player can use their knowledge/skills to win the game)  first then the sfx and vfx comes later.

Developer(+1)

I agree, the Upgrade Deck is how you get more cards in your deck. That was supposed to be triggered by cards like the Creative Boost. I just did not have the time to get those type of cards in the game and balanced right. You can click on the Upgrade Deck to put cards into your player deck discard pile then they will shuffle back into your player deck. I left that in to allow forward progression but it was only supposed to be triggered by card play.  I do plan to go back and get the Game Play fixed because I agree with you right now it does feel lucked based. Thanks for your feedback, it is spot on.

very cool concept! i like the mechanics behind points - i think this might be very fun adapted into a race for the galaxy style vs. game!

Great job! There is so much here :)

It was tough to get a handle on at first, but once I started ascending, I wanted to keep going! The instructions on the game's page were very helpful btw for anyone looking to play!

Developer

Thank you, I am happy to hear you were able to ascend! I appreciate your feedback and calling out the instructions on the page.

Cheers for making such a complex game. I can't get past a few hands, but I can see the work behind the project ^^

Submitted(+1)

I'm still not quite sure if I got the game :P But that's a good sign, it means it's unique!

I noticed, that if you play the ancient feeding and the ancients again, the tutorial text appears again.

The music matches the game perfect!

Developer(+1)

Yes, I was under the gun while putting in the tutorial. I had to leave to go out of town on Friday May 24th. When my brother who was driving us showed up I asked him for an hour more. He was not happy but I got the tutorial in before we left. The way I did was very, very, very, ugly certain cards trigger the tutorial game objects to become active. The "Ancient Feeding" card would ideally be burned an not go into the deck, but I did not have the time for that. So it is now a bug. Thank you for the kind words on the game though. Paul E. Messier is awesome to work with he did all the music if you ever want music I would message him in discord "Paul E. Messier#1557"

Submitted(+1)

All good man! It's just a feedback, if you wanna continue with the game :)

I will message him! My music is from soundimahe.org. Look at these too. Very very good!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the tip https://soundimage.org/ looks like a great resource I will be sure to add it to my list of helpful sites.

A great concept and very creative.

Submitted(+1)

Nice! This looks like a proof of concept of an idea for a large game.

I love the special effects in the card, they feel polished. In a couple of cases I wanted to zoom in to read the text, but the zoom is not stable, it keeps bouncing when it reaches the highest level.

I hope you keep at it!

Developer(+1)

Ya, the zoom requires you to keep the mouse cursor over the target at the moment. As you zoomed in most likely the cursor left the card collider. I would like to have had the time to make it more of a zoom to the clicked target but was running way low on time so opted for the janky version cause at least it semi worked. Thanks for the kind words, It is definitely a proof of concept for a larger game.

Submitted(+1)

Definitely some well thought mechanics behind, must have been some hard work ! Great job, will hopefully see more in the future ;)

Submitted(+1)

Great submission and awesome music from Paul! Great job on the submission here, hope you get a chance to expand on it post jam

Submitted(+1)

Having the sound setting on start is neat and I really liked that. I like the space and god Aesthetics of the game.  Having the right click zoom was a nice addon, felt more immersive.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Very cool game. Reminds me a bit of the board game Orion with the systems mechanic. Great submission and submitted well before the deadline. I would love to see this turned into a full scale release!

Great music too!

Developer(+1)

I posted a Bug Fixed version that now allows you to play out the stars as designed. I had added a last minute star count variable that I incremented but had forgotten to decrement when stars were removed. I fixed that and now that works!
