Amazing job with the atmosphere! The title screen along with the overall setting hooked me right in!
I really like the subtle storytelling, it was fun to interpret the meaning of the entire game. Personally, it think seems to play on the idea of addiction? Overall really well done
Thank you for being the customer of the Late Night Shop Network, you participation and feedback is invaluable to us!As for the interpretation - I’m going to stay silent, this is really interesting to read what other people think:)
Peakness
Beatiful, with an amazing vibe.
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
Really cool concept and nice artistic execution. And it feels quite polished. Excellent job!
Thanks for playing and for the kind words!
Visually, it looks great and fits the theme very well!
But, I didn't really "get" it... I bought a few things, and then the game was over. Really not sure if I won or lost. LOL 🤷♂️
Thanks you for playing!
Probably you’ve faced some bug that I’ve missed…or the game communicated itself poorly. Probably one more playthrough can fix it, but it’s not guaranteed. As some of the players said - maybe it’s not the game, but an audio visual experience.
Anyway, thanks again for playing, loved your submission!
i love the theme
Thanks for playing!
Sick atmosphere and interesting concept. Genuinely creepy and unsettling, with cool jumpscares. Played a couple times before figuring out exactly what we're supposed to do. Good sound design too. Simple mechanics but they work for the concept. Would like it if it was a little more challenging but overall cool game and I enjoyed playing it!
Thank you very much for playing, critique and suggestions!
I would consider adding some more chalange in the post jam version!
I really enjoyed playing that. I was hoping I could continue after!
Overall the atmosphere generated is great, the voices match it perfectly, the overlay graphic (shader?) for refusal is great and really sells the sense of danger.
Another thing to note as well is the page. The page looks amazing and pitches the game really well.
I typically like to leave a note on what could be improved so my feedback can be of some help but I'm genuinely struggling for something.
This is the first game that I've played in the jam and if the rest continue like this has then I'd think the quality of the games will be extremely high! Well done!
Thank you very much for playing and for the kind words!
You will always be one of the most valuable customers of the Late Night Shop Network!
About the refuse effect if you are still interested - it’s a combination of the animation fisheye post processing shader and music pitch change all done with the basic animation player. Basically I’m rapidly changing the fisheye effect strength and at the same time animating the music pitch which leads to a tape glitch effect in terms of sound, and soul sucking (for the luck of the better term) in terms of the visuals.
This game has a very creepy atmosphere and is very well put together the with headphones on those whispers made the hairs on my neck stand up. Only remark i have is that once the dialing was finished i had the tendency to let go of the mouse button but that stopped the buying process. For me it would make more sense that once you are connected you can let the button go.
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
Unfortunately for me the dialing is a common problem, need to fix it in a post jam version.
That was so immersive, I felt on a black mirror episode hahaha The game page also is nice! Congratulations for the game.
I thought the game could have some mechanics to make it more challenging, like balancing drink healing or adding buffs/rewards to some purchases.
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
Yep, there are options to add more mechanics, scoped everything besides the core gameplay out to be able complete the game and not be layed off, but after the jam will end my hands will be free:)
Was really excited to play this! It was a very good choice to use voice acting and I really liked that the objects rotated when displayed since it reminded me of old PS2 games. The visual feedback for when you don't buy anything is helpful and the whispers after buying can increase the tension of the game.
I think an indicator on where specifically to put your mouse when trying to buy would be helpful, maybe something on the screen, "hover mouse over phone then press e to buy". Captions for the voice lines is a good choice too for accessibility.
Thank you very much for playing!
A message from the TV guy:
Your feedback has been recorded. LNSN remains dedicated to continuous improvement and to providing you with the highest quality service.I’m really impressed. The whole game feels like an episode of Black Mirror. The voice acting is incredible, something you don’t often see in game jams, so shout out for that.
I really like how the game explores attachment and how true freedom comes from letting go of your past mistakes, actions, and poor decisions, and actually forgiving yourself. Otherwise, you remain trapped in a debt that you are both the debtor and collector of.
Honestly, it felt more like an experience than a game, but I really enjoyed it. The psychological horror, the atmosphere, everything was fantastic. Great work!
Oh man, thank you so much for playing and for such a review! Seems like those 10 days of my life was not a waste of time after all.
If you have any bitter points please feel free to share them! I’m collecting the feedback to understand if I need to work on a post-jam version or not and any critique is valuable to me.
Cool experience, I love the atmosphere!
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
If there is anything that did not work, or you did not like, please let me know so I can improve the game post jam!
Wow what a surreal experience :) Loved the concept and how you integrated the TV into it, felt very natural and has a little bit of psychological horror element to it as well with the visuals! the mouse shaking thing was a nice touch, cant say ive seen it ever before in a game! Really well done!
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
If you had any issues or things that you did not like while playing, please let me know so I can improve the game!
I played it twice and got different endings - i guess one owas the 'good' one where i got the freedom. I think what was not immediately clear to me was that what really impacted the outcome of the game.. i may have missed this in the clues somewhere but maybe that could be made a bit more clear? It didnt matter too much really, but if that were made clear, maybe i would have enjoyed it a bit more. Thats the only nitpick i have, other than that it was pretty awesome, and i forgot to mention that the writing on this was top notch :)
Thank you very much for such a detailed answer and for the kind words!
I will think how goal definition can be improved!
Wow that was amazing I could feel the darkness seeming into my mind glad I got the light at the end and got released from all that noise.
What a great experience everything was on point, loved the story telling and effects.
Thanks a lot for playing and for the kind words!
Makes me feel like those 10 days were totally worth it!
They definitely were my friend :)
You have put some dark art into the world at just the right time of year!
Thank you! Wish more people will play your entry and share some thoughtful feedback!
Early days I think the more I do jams the more I see even small feedback is the most valuable gift. I try really hard to give everyone I rate at least one critique or suggestion where possible. It was hard for yours lol, I feel it could have had a little more external narrative to break it up like a call from a friend or needing to feed your dog - just to break it up and give a little more world building. But at the same time you have a tuned in experience where your focus is set, so perhaps its best as is..
I wonder are the items random and do you get different ones in playthroughs and only see a portion? if you haven't done this that may be a way to add more to offering and bring replayability.
Yeah, trying to do the same, after all we are here to find out our weak points and grow on the feedback.
As for items, I have only 10 of them now, scoped the game on the day one to be able to complete it, this is also the reason no models have any textures. But there is definitely a potential to add more of them to bring in the possibility for replay.
Never thought about potential side activities, thank you for the suggestion, sounds like an interesting one!
Interesting game idea and great visuals. I think I had a sound bug where I almost couldn't hear anything despite setting the volume to max. Anyway, good job!
Thank you for playing!
Can you please share what is your operation system and browser? Unfortunately I never had any sound issues while testing and you are the first one who reports this.
I'm using Windows 11 with Google Chrome (current version). Didn't have issues with other games so far. However, my internet connection is not that good today, so maybe that's the problem.
Thank you for the additional information! Will test with throttling.
The tone and atmosphere are top-notch. I had a black screen initially but after waiting 30 seconds, the game started working. I think the sounds were great. Was the only mechanic to dial the phone for each item? Or could you do something else?
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
Guess the black screen is a shader compilation, it may take some time depending on the hardware, OS and browser, sorry for that, I had to make a dedicated screen for the shader compilation stage.
As for the possible actions, there are basically two of them - you can purchase product by calling the phone, or refuse by waiting till the end of round or by rapidly shaking your camera just like when you want to say NO without using words.
And yeah, you can also restore sanity by drinking, yet there is a chance it will hit you back in a while.
Ah that makes sense, the possible actions are pretty cool. Fits with the theme and lore.
I played it three times. Died the first, failed the second, won the third. The vibe was super creepy - like I got shivers down my spine. Well done. I saw you made the music yourself - very well done. The whole deal with the devil and the whispers layered was really cool.
The only issue I encountered was that sometimes I thought I dialed the phone and then I didn't buy the object and got penalized. That's how I died the first time. I couldn't tell if it was intentional or not.
Well done.
Thank you very much for play, for the kind words and critique!
Yeah, I tweaked the collider of the phone hundred of times, but still have not found the ideal size so the player don’t miss the purchase but still has to aim.
Regarding the whispers - I should once again thank the Fort Kenmei , he played and reviewed the game very early and actually proposed changing generic whispers to meaningful one’s. Check out his channel, he provider very thoughtful critique and deserves more views.
It's a good concept, but it could be made better by adding a few things, like some products that come with a jump scare. The atmosphere of the game was epic — I liked it overall.
Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
As I’m personally can’t handle jump scares, I decided not to add them. But considering that generally people are more resistant to them, next time I’ll brew a thermos of green tea to stay calm and add at least one:)
i really liked the idea behind this game, the voice overs were really cool addition and the gameplay and story were interesting. cool concept. i had fun playing this :)
Thank you very much for playing!
If you had any issues while playing, something that was not clear or something that you did not like, please let me know! Good critique is the key to improvement after all!
