thanks for the feedback, and yeah I noticed the grid thing, but alas it happens in 3 day jams lol, especially since I only could use 2 of the days. Hopefully no one would charge money for a game they made in 3 days also lol, but I get what you mean, I could add an easy mode in the future. You also could restart in pause menu so you don’t have to wait as long, but I didn’t make it clear enough

yeah, I probably could've done that, but I didn't want to. It felt like I was locking everything behind boxes you had to break, so I decided to make it much harder to go ways you weren't meant to go yet, assuming after dying many times, people would choose another route. Maybe in the future, I shall add more guidance, but the feeling of despair and urgency I tried to build in this game might've been damaged without a feeling of exploration or ever being lost
ok, the stuck in gate and pause glitches are actually very helpful thank you. Most people have gotten through at least a bit of it, but when I see you didn’t know there was a mechanic that’s only 5 mins in, It makes me not take feedback seriously. When I judge a game, I judge it as if I just downloaded it and wanted to play it. If you just got a game, you would never click off 5 minutes in, so I disagree with this approach. I also thought I had enough rewards with the antidote, orbs, clones, and secrets, but I guess you can’t please everyone. Didn’t mean to be rude lol, but I said it was a puzzle games, which require figuring stuff out. Thanks for the new feedback though, genuinely good!
You might've already seen mine, but if not here it is :) https://itch.io/jam/solodevelopment-10-new-year-jam/rate/4172213
Awesome! Yeah, I see what you mean with your critisism. This was probably the most helpful feedback I got this jam, and considering this is only the 2nd game I've made I still have much to learn. I'm glad you enjoyed the drill bird enemy so much lol. I've never watched anyone play my games before really, other than friends, and it makes me smile even if you did find a lot wring with it, just to see someone appreciate what I was going for. Good luck!
There was no runback for bosses, there was a checkpoint right before every boss! You probably just missed it, but I'll blame that on the small camera size. Glad you liked it for the most part, but yeah that miner boss I think you're talking about has a checkpoint right to the left of the drop down into the arena, just a little above it! I should've made it more prominent, sorry lol. Thanks for playing!
thanks so much for your feedback! I’m glad you liked the base concepts, I do agree the camera should be zoomed. I couldn’t figure out how to add in a zoomed out camera on the bug fix day, but alas that happens. And for ambiance, if I developed further, I’d probably add shrubbery and the famous cut table grass lol. There was still another area that you had to backtrack to get to after getting dash, but no other bosses! I’ll put that in the description. Glad you liked it for the most part!
I think the concept of giving things up was interesting, and using it as a key to move on does follow the metroidvania aspect. I think the combat was really annoying though, I couldnt figure out how to fight the melee ones without getting hit in return. I got up to the second key on my farthest run, I think if you added a way to heal, maybe there was I just didn't find it! Also an in game tutorial would be good, just putting them on the page isn't as fun! I liked the dash, it made me feel free lol, and the art was pretty cool. Also, escape closes out the whole game, idk if this is on purpose but it made me lose when I tried to pause mid run! Great job overall!
My game is here too: https://itch.io/jam/metroidvania-month-30/rate/4122590
OK yeah thank you for playing it! For difficulty, the actual game has only 5 hearts not 8, I made it way easier for the jam so people with less skill could play it, for in the past I get a lot of hate for difficult games. And for the art and the level expansiveness, those are the 2 consistent bits of feedback I get, and in future games I'll definitely make sure to address those! I was trying to make the background more detailed for the minimalist feel to give contrast to the simple characters, but I don't think it gave the effect I wanted. Good feedback, and I'm glad you liked it!
Oh ok so sorry I missed that! Yeah I do think that would help, with an in game pop up, you did have quite a few of those which was awesome, most of the other games just put instructions on the page which is less engaging. Would you mind rating my submission by the way, I like the way you do your ratings, I saw it on another game lol.
Yo this is awesome! I think the controls are a little wierd, but that objective, maybe a controls tab would be good? I love the level design, and the parkour! I do think that more checkpoints should be set, because I had a lot of big runbacks, maybe I just missed them. Also a map would be good, but I get that, I ran out of time for a map as well in my game! The mobility is really fun, I think less health for enemies and lower attack speed for the player would just feel better though, spamming is kind of annoying even though theres hardly any cooldown. All nitpicky stuff, its really solid work!
