Finaly I can play it :)
I liked mostly everything in the game, music, graphism and gameplay but there are some little dark points :
- The parcour gameplay was a little too buggy to be really enjoyable, I can't continue the game as I can't slide correctly into a certain wall :( (After the big gap in the second level )
- The head bobing made me sick, which is really really rare that I go motion sick from a FPS, an option to deactivate it would be welcome !
- The character seems to hold its gun with both hands, which is not practical in term of anatomical placement ( the gun is way too much on the right to be held with both hands ).

Overall, I really liked hte ambiance, sounds effects etc which reminded me of Portal.  But I am wondering what is the connection to the theme, but maybe I don't know as I didn't finished it D:

But still, you did a really good job here :)

As a game I think it is a pretty solid entry, but unfortunately I ran into some problems with the game, mainly the object interaction and parkour. Sometimes the jump button is unresponsive as with the parkour, and I had to fight off enemies being in the way of certain hallways, trying to walk around or jumping over them. Other than that, I think it's a well executed game!

A question though, what connection does this game have with the theme? Curious to know

I literally had to shoot at the remains of one of the robots until it dropped off the ledge so it wasn't in my way when I attempted to jump over the gap.

Unfortunately I hadn't quite remembered all controls for the player and I guess without running one won't have the speed to make it to the other side...

I encountered some weirdnesses with robot remains still (partially) moving although one could think that some bits of that actually make sense (you may have shot the head with the main processor of, but the actuator on the arm keeps going if its motor is still working and it's still having power).

A bit more interaction with the environment (other than kicking empty cardboard boxes around) would have been nice (the lab glassware must be really bulletproof ;) ).

In order to play it I threw it at Unity to build a Linux version of it. No issues encountered with that!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback man, humbly sorry if you experienced such bugs, and also yeah, I could have done alot with the game and make it more polished, unfortunately within the timeframe I had since I was very slow, I couldn't do it. Anyhow, I'm glad you played! Thanks again!

This is a great entry with a lot of potential! It took me a bit to get used to what the parkour means but it's a neat idea and a solid execution. Other than polish, I think my biggest issue is the movement interaction with objects (like a fallen enemy, or the side of the door) because it kinda just stops abruptly instead of maybe sliding or going over it.

I managed to go finish the game and for the amount of time you spent for this, it's a great entry and one of my favorite!

Developer

Thanks for playing S2LCheshire, honestly all of this feedback is amazing and will help me the next time I develop something similar

First of all, I want to say that you’ve done an incredible job with this jam entry.

Unfortunately I had a pretty rough experience with this game, partially due to my own circumstances but in other areas due to little things that no doubt are a result of your incredible scope, attention to detail, and wide range of features. The fact that you still submitted such a complete entry despite the challenge you set for yourself is commendable.

For one, I do wish there were a port to Linux as playing through Wine left me rather unsatisfied– there were frequent stutters and input always held down for too long. I’m mentioning this only because it definitely worsened the effect of some of the other issues I ran into.

I wish the locked doors had a more obvious signal to show you that they’re locked. In the first segment, I kept trying the first door thinking it bugged out, then on my second run I tried it once again before finally looking up and realizing there was a place to go to.

While the environments certainly look nice, I definitely felt that the level design occasionally could have benefitted from more clueing. In other games of this genre such as Dying Light there’s little discolorations and scratches from parkour runners on the walls that you’re expected to climb or run across, as well as tarps or other visual motifs. Here, it sometimes felt like a guessing game, though again I’d say the first required jump is the worst offender and the rest of the game doesn’t get quite that obtuse.

While I know that bugs are bound to happen when you try to make a parkour game in virtually no time, the lack of any kind of level reset or quit button makes falling out of the world a rough experience (again, random and severe framerate drops from Wine may have caused this to happen more often than in testing). I would recommend adding a special box under the level that kills the player so they can reset, or just adding those options.

Again, a lot of this comes down to my own experience which was hampered by a few things on my end. It looks incredible, sets the tone perfectly, has some killer audio work, has animation and first person movement effects that simply don’t belong in a jam title, and just generally blows my expectations out of the water. I’d love to give the game another go under better circumstances and see it through to the end.

Thank you soo much AnchorLight, I'm very sorry for not importing a Linux build as I've never done those before but I should give that a go! And I'm honored that you gave such an enlightening comment, there was a lot of things I had done wrong with this game and with most of the movement being very buggy, not to mention not having to reset the level will kind of be a pain, I will next time work on all of these things and polish it furthur rather than add! This is my first time trying to create a parkour game and I've learnt alot from it! And again thanks for playing!

Great visuals! Very impressive for a 2 week jam. You should definitely continue on with this project after the jam.

Developer

Thanks Fat Pirate!

Got here late but I guess better late than never, I liked the parkour made me hyped to play some mirrors edge and the headshots felt so satisfying  lol.

Great job.

Developer

Thanks for playing man, first time I've heard that someone liked the parkour!!!

Submitted(+1)

First impression - allow people to disable the walking bob. The slight side to side bobbing, even on the start menu, caused instant motion sickness for me. I managed to play to the first enemies, but quickly gave up.

The game looks gorgeous. Maybe some sort of music could have started earlier? Also, having controls listed in game would help. I had to stop and look at the game page to find out I could actually fight back.

Well done for two weeks though. This looks really pretty! Just needs some more polish and some accessibility options!

Developer(+1)

Thanks CFHM! I'll keep alot of these in mind for the next jam!

I got to the end and defeated EvilEye. Pretty good with what you got done over the 2 week time. I'm sure people have already mentioned about what I would say that this game needs in tweaking. Mostly the jumping/parkour. It feels floaty (increase the weight so the gravity affects it more?) and the feel of the parkour. Only other issue I would see is how does the theme match this?

Otherwise, really cool idea and what you managed to get done in the 2 weeks time. Pat yourself on the back Underdog! Looking forward to what you do next ;).

Developer(+1)

Thanks Brohmyr, I wanted to quickly put up with the theme but then realized I ran out of time as I overscoped the project, and as for the movement, well yeah its really bad and I better fix it! Thanks for playing my bugfest game either way!

Submitted

It isn't as buggy as you think. Just some tightening up here and there. Nice work overall though. Keep it up Underdog ;)

Submitted(+1)

Finally tried :)

For me, you absolutely must keep working on this project! A great game can come out of it. The first thing to do is, of course, the controls. I would not go further until it is satisfactory and until at least a few people confirm it. It is probably the author of GMTK who said in one of the films that good steering is when you want to move the hero even without a specific goal, just for the sake of moving.

I love the graphic style! The atmosphere is great too.

Small but necessary things - more frequent checkpoints, the ability to reset the level from the pause menu (I flew through the wall to the void and had to start ALL the game from the beginning :P) and in case someone gets stuck and wants to continue, the "skip level" button (this just for a sake of a game jam, not full game of course). These are small, stupid things, but I think some people could get discouraged by the lack of it.

The game is great and I'm glad you made it after all problems with uploading! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for this amazing feedback sly, I'm extremely honored that you played, will keep in mind about all of this and use this as the best learning experience!

super! I'm following your page on itch.io, so I will be watching your next projects/updates!

I could not figure out the jump mechanic but WOW this is a very cool entry, well done! I kept getting stuck at the first platforming bit. Suggestion if you continue developing this: checkpoints! I definitely got frustrated having to run all the way back. Still, this is a very impressive game, very slick.  Let me know if you make any updates!

Developer

Thanks alot for playing smallKiwi, I'll let everyone know if I'm gonna continue this!

Submitted(+2)

Super awesome game man, I did a livestream play with it. Other than having a bunch of jump mechanic issues it was fantastic. I would also suggest some form of a tutorial if you continue with it. I had some issues figuring out how to get the parkour mechanics to work and stuff for a while but it was great none the less. Superb work for a jam I cant believe you did all this solo in 2 weeks.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing Metalstorm, I'll be sure to check the live stream!

Submitted(+1)

Everything is awesome!

The main menu, the atmosphere, the shooting and dismembered robots, but I couldn't reached to the boss because I got stucked in a wall. I'll try to beat the boss later.

Nice work

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm very sorry for that last glitch though, I'm a bit confused on how it happens because it didn't happen when I was play testing a couple of times! Anyway I love the fact that you atleast got there, thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

Visuals are stunning! Level designs are minimalistic but great. The movement and parkour still needs some work, but in two weeks this is still awesome! I hope you will keep working on it :)

Developer

Thanks random games, I hope to work more on the parkour and other mechanics to polish this!

For a game made with a deadline this is epic, you have clearly shown your potential as a skilled gamedev through this game and im looking forward to your future accomplishments and a video game franchise of your own.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you found it EPIC!

Submitted(+1)

This was fun! Parkour was definitely a little janky in terms of wall and floor collision detection. Movement was definitely floaty, my hand is tired from playing. Boss was a good challenge, but his laser sometimes would just shoot past me or shoot me through a pillar. I was pleasantly surprised that headshots did extra damage, so bonus points for that. Not being able to see my bullets was also a little frustrating.

Only issue I encountered (besides sticking my head through walls sometimes) was that the low health canvas element stayed active after I had died and respawned.

Developer

Im glad you had fun! Extremely sorry for the movement, and as for some of collision bugs. The canvas problem was one I faced after the build, ill be sure to fix these bugs!

Great game, great concept, love your design.. Definitely a game with major potential.. got a nice Portal vibe from it..

Developer

Thanks for playing dude, im glad you enjoyed!!!

Submitted(+1)

Really good idea, looks great imo.

A couple of comments would be:

  • It felt a little sluggish with the gun which I guess was the intention
  • The hit parkour for me was a bit hit and miss would have preffered a simple double jump - the first real jump is really diffiuclt, well at least for me
  • You need to reduce the distance you can shoot as I could clear a room from one spot (although love the destruction of the bots!!!)
  • and a silly point the opening sound plays even when door don't open

All that said with a bit of polish this is something I would definitely  play!

Developer

Thanks for playing Dmented, I'lI be sure to take these to account when I make another game similar and I'lI be sure to fix these bugs!!!

Submitted(+1)

Love your map design and the models you made are outstanding. When it starts  a grate falls in front of you, not sure if its supposed to happen but it made push it around thinking it was meant to be placed somewhere. Dont know where to find the gun you made so havent gotten past any the first robots yet but you captured the mood and feel of the game perfectly. Almost get the sense of a half-life type style, escape the complex overridden by robots instead of aliens and your models make it happen. Absolutely brilliant modelling.

Developer

Thanks for the playing man, and im happy to hear you like the models, be sure to press TAB to switch between your weapon and the parkour mode!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome game! While I was playing I was saying to myself, "this game has potential because its fun"
Obviously it needs work and polish, because the ambition and the scope of a game like that requires lots of work, but you proved that you can make it, because it works. I was able to reach the end of the game. Even had a challenge, the boss battle was well balanced. I'm gonna say, if this game continue to get love, it will be ready for an alpha build in a near future.

Developer

I'm happy you enjoyed it, I'll be sure to work on this game when I get the time to plan everything out and polish it more!
