Awesome game. Art, sounds, design on top. There is one inconvenient moment associated with falling platforms, in the castle, where you need to go under the wall, there are a number of falling platforms. I once fell unsuccessfully and the next time I could not go further than 2-3 platforms, because some fell immediately, and some were only damaged. But despite this, the game is great!

I can easily say this is one of my  favorite game jam games ever. The music is perfectly loopable, the art/layout is good, and the level design is solid. I love Bennett Foddy-esque games and have completed both New Babe and New Babe+ of Jump King (New Babe+ is no joke!)

I finished this game and want to call out one spot that I believe does not follow the formula that makes these games great: https://i.imgur.com/MSWb4e1.png

This bucket is stationary the first time you get here, so it isn't a very hard jump. But after you fall and come back to it, the bucket is continuously moving and the cycle doesn't exactly line up with the cycle of the platform you are jumping from. This makes the jump feel random and unfair. I fell on this 6 or 7 times in a row and almost gave up because of the inconsistent timing.

Two ideas for fixes: Make the bucket stop whenever it is at the right side or make the platform and the bucket movement on a consistent cadence so the player has a similar setup every time they try the jump.

Overall, amazing job!

Thank you for your compliments and for taking the time to  offer these ideas. I was not 100% sure when it came to that section so thank you for your insights I greatly appreciate everything you have to say and offer.

Nice game with good level design and coherent art!

The game is amazing, although I find the jump controls a bit unpolished and some golden sprites require a lot of backtracking every time you fail. But I really liked the mood, the art, music, and level design. Congrats on a round entry. Good job!

Lovely sprite design, I couldn't get pass the third golden sprite but enjoy the game nonetheless.

Graphics fit together nicely and the game has an oldschool NES type platforming feeling.

Well done !

Just realized I put my comment in the wrong place! This game is pretty cute :) The art looks nice and the audio matches the game well. The platforming challenges were fun but difficult.

Hi!

Thanks for your submission!

Pros:

- Very responsive controls. No delay on input or anything, you press jump; you jump!

- Pretty self-explanatory through level design. I love games that will just teach you how to play based on level design, in this one, the starting area with the fly allowing me to jump higher immediately indicated that I'd have to gather more flies.

- The audio/graphics created for a nice little atmosphere in the game.

Points that I think could use some improvement:

- A coyote jump would've been great! Even though I do believe it's rare in older games (and this game def gave me some retro vibes!), I still think it's a great addition to make for a bit more of a smooth platforming experience without taking away from the retro vibes.

Not a biggie cause we do have the sound mixer of a course, but a volume slider is always nice to have, too :)

Thank you for your submission once again and good luck in future jams!

Hey, I love the feel and everything about the game! I played quite a while on it!
After I collected 4 golden flies, I couldn't advance anymore. There was no way to reach the golden fly that was there up high in the beginning, and also there was no way to solve the riddle with the moving bronze blocks, I couldn't reach the third moving block...
Still gave you 5/5 for all. Ratings are overrated :)

Thank you I appreciate the insights you have offered. That section is possible, I may however have to tweak its difficulty. Turns out I was wrong, I apologize.   That is one thing I always struggle with, is how difficult to make it. When you playtest yourself you know how to solve the puzzle. Thanks again.
