Strong points:

  • good overall concept
  • nice heaven twist, also for the additional player skills
  • music is enjoyable

Other Feedback

  • Introtext had a bit short screen time, would be nice to press a button to end it after reading
  • hitboxes of bullets are a bit deceiving
  • double jump mechanic is a bit unresponsive, sometimes it does not work
  • needs more visible space to the upside, many death occur by getting hit by suddenly appearing bullets
  • the best choice at the skeletons always was "checkpoint", the rest was way less useful
  • jumps in difficulty due to its layout of spikes , plattforms and enemies.
  • I found that building up movement momentum was a bit slow, but that could be a matter of preference.
  • could introduce more enemy types or gameplay/environment mechanics.
  • could hint at possible interactions with the lost soul by displaying a button prompt at the first one

I like tough platformers, also minimalistic ones. The foundation is good but held a bit back by repetitiveness, random difficulty and perceived unfair deaths. The main flaw would be for me the slow buildup of movement momentum and the clunky double jump. Still it is a charming concept and I was satisfied when I found god. :)

I like the skull characters animation. The graphics are simple but well made

Fun but punishing platformer! The hard to see hazards made it a challenging but rewarding run. I definitely opted for the checkpoints, but unlocking everything after hell was super helpful and reduced overall death rate XD

Nice work!

Big problem on the Game Boy DMG, impossible to see the double jump zones with the chosen colorimetry :/ Otherwise the game is really good, but very difficult!

Man, I change de main charater color sprite to red, but the original color it's the same of the background. I know that this could happen.  Aniway, I'm happy that my game was played in a original device. Make-me proud hahhahaa.

Thanks for play!! <3

Wow, this was really difficult. Had to use savestates to get through in an amount of time that still allows me to play the other games 😅 But I guess this amount of difficulty is to be expected when you go through hell. I really would have loved the upgrades to carry over from stage to stage.
I like the simple but pleasing artstyle.

Sorry for the difficult, was not intentional. Thank for your patience and perseverance with the game :)

Submitted(+1)

Don't tell anyone the difficulty was not intentional. I won't ;)

Reminds me of super meat boy, difficult game made to get angry, it was very well applied. I found the art to be very weak and the level design was confusing, sometimes I would die for something I couldn't see, because of the camera. The song is good, but it shouldn't repeat every time it dies. If there was a retouch in the art and a redone camera I think it would be perfect.

Fala Rodrigo, concordo cara.

The concept really makes me smile. "The devil has to escape his own traps" made me laugh. I love the graphics: really funky and fun! But I simply can't get far at all because I can't get the double jump to work consistently...

Submitted(+1)

It's interesting, but like some other people have said it could use some balancing; for example, I didn't realize there was any kind of double-jump mechanic until I'd died maybe 15 times. Maybe some kind of introduction to the gameplay would help with that.

That said, I like the visual style and the music (though it is a bit repetitive). Good job!

I liked the little devil guy!

first lvl is pretty tuff to get you comfortable with the mechanics, Love the music and the artstyle!

Submitted(+2)

It's an interesting entry, very simplistic but dificult. Physics need some ballancing. Good luck!

Submitted(+1)

A good platformer.

Very challenging game.
I like the simplistic artstyle.
Music fits the game.

The checkpoint/reward system is an interesting idea, but because the game was so difficult i couldn't find myself ever in need of anything other than getting a checkpoint. At least in heaven you get checkpoints for free :)

I think it's okay. The idea that you can help the skeletons to get some much-needed boosts does add an interesting mechanic to the tight platforming that you have to do in this game. However, the platforming itself feels very harsh, and extremely slippery. I would recommend making the physics a little tighter and responsive by tweaking the default GB Studio settings.
Reminds me a bit of the I Wanna be the Guy Series.
