I like the idea that you are making decisions on a civilization, however i dont really understand how some of them fail so quickly with the choices. I feel like it would be a lot better had there been a reason behind these choices like if you chose to study education it would give you like a counter towards sophistication otherwise you had one towards barbaric culture, which then if you didnt lean into more your civilization would fall apart, kind of making it a balancing act of progression without letting your civ fall behind in any one aspect.

I think the idea is really cool, but after restarting a new ruin a couple times the game stopped displaying text after I pressed a button. Kinda a weird bug. I am curious if every outcome had the "try again" text or if there was one path that lead to some sort of victory.

I enjoy the idea of making a text based game. I think once the art is added it could be really cool.

been awhile since I've seen a text based game, good game though! seems like there are many possible endings with your script.

very interesting game, very detailed and involved, I feel that some things should be added but other than that it was fun.

I would appreciate some more stimulus like visuals and audio. Also, I would like to note that religion is spelt wrong (not religeon). Also, I did run into the freezing issue

Cool idea and very interesting information and narrative. Some music and some more visuals would make this feel more fleshed out

It was informative and somehow fun. It looked like old books. I wish there was music and more engaging and interactive activities.

Interesting choose your own story game. My criticism would be that the choices need to each be looked through to make them work though, if you choose the left options every time, the game will break and there will be no text after.

On the fourth try through the game froze on me. Maybe due to clicking through too fast but not sure? With some visuals this would be a great educational game.

Developer

Thank you! I'm not sure what causes the freezing at all, a lot of people have been mentioning it, but I'm not certain why it does it.

I liked the idea of the game, I think with some more visuals and other touches it could really turn out to be something cool. I like it when games allow you to decide your own fate. There's enough choices in the game that make it worth replaying a couple of times to see what kind of ending you can get.

Developer

I'm glad that you enjoyed. The idea was that there were supposed to be some unique assets that go with each choice and outcome, although that proved very difficult.

It was an interesting concept, and decently fun to play, there was some grammatical errors, but other than that, it was a short and sweet experience!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed!

Pretty neat! It reminds me a lot of those old "Choose your own adventure" books with a real life historical twist.
It definitely has room for visual improvement, it'd be fun if the background changed to represent the last choice you made or something of that nature.

Not every game has to be played in the same active way, I'm an avid fan of the visual novel genre myself, and with visual makeover I could see this being a neat way to introduce grade school students to some aspects of history.

Developer

Thanks for playing through my game! I was going for the choose your own adventure feel so I'm glad it turned out like that.

The visuals are definently just awful, so don't feel too bad about it. I did think about making the background specific for the last ending, I just ended up with less time on my hands than I thought.

This was a super cool concept. I'd thought about trying to do something similar with like a site investigation, but couldn't come close on programming or on assets. I like how you simplified the interface to its most basic core, then tied it back to real-life civilizations. Very neat!

Also I was able to recreate Meapers' bug. When one game ended and the next began (I think I was starting my 4th runthrough), if I clicked quickly, it froze.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. Thank you  for pointing out how this bug works. I will look into it a bit more.

I think if I had added some visuals it would be a lot more fun.

I look forward to playing your game and others like it!

Upon trying to play the game again, it freezes.

There are a total of thirteen actual endings pointing towards a empire. And three where the civilization actually fell.

As for the gameplay, its not very engaging to say the least. Maybe if there was more art to carry the weight or something like that it would be less boring or some music.

Understandable, I did not see anything about the game freezing, although I suppose if you click through the options fast enough, I can see a world where maybe you overload the system. Is there any more information you have or a way to duplicate the bug?

The gameplay is not very engaging, and it was very dull to create. I'm sure with a little more time and a lot more effort it could have been something better than it is.

I appreciate the feedback for my game. I will mark it down and make sure to remember for the next time i work on a similar project :D.

I hope you have a good day and I look forward to playing your game as well as everyone else's!
