Snake friend! I did like the snake buddies you find along the way as well as the little things they say and have you do, only thing was itch.io was laggy making it a bit tough to play, not the games fault though, and i think this lag is what allowed me to clip straight through walls, so im not gonna hold that against you either, but that is something i wanted to mention.

I really liked the game and I think this was a super fun idea. Somehow I ended up making the snakes size increase massively, but after dying and resetting it was all normal from there on. Really liked the idea of being a snake.

Very original concept. It took a bit of time to figure out the main quest, and I think a sprint option would have helped to speed up the time it takes to explore things, but it a very good game overall.

fun game, what stood out to me most was the loot chest with  the pit trap in front of it. clever idea and the text was humorous too!

Submitted(+1)

Very fun and unique idea! It was fun playing from the perspective of the snake and using problem solving skills. The controls felt a little difficult, and the camera perspective did not do well with walls

Great environment and map design, the sound effects were great and the movement feels very fluid and satisfying

The game is fun and engaging but it's difficult to find the mission. the environment is engaging with different locations the hissing sound was funny.

Developer

I'm thrilled you found it fun, engaging, and funny! I was worried about it being difficult to find the mission but never quite was satisfied that I'd succeeded, so thank you for that feedback. What I tried was:

1. Making the temple the tallest thing in the opening scene, even peaking above the maze.

2. Including plantlife closer to where you "should" be and creating a bit of a trail toward the temple and discoverable behind it, and excluding it where you "shouldn't" be. I was even going to trigger a warning and then a death if the snake wandered too far toward the edge of the map but ran out of time.

3. Several of the pieces of dialogue and the interactibles in the temple make reference to trying to interact with the torches. However, without the interact popup working, it can be hard to even find those to trigger the hints, and there are only a couple torches that do anything.

4. I tried making more light toward the temple exit, and planting a skeleton next to the wrong torch to make it look like they almost made it out. I don't think it communicated what I wanted it to. X-D

I'll need to learn more about proper signposting if I do another exploration game.

First off, the intro with the snake sliding in was really cool! Secondly, I found this game to be very fun, just being able to go around and discover a bunch of different things was cool. Also not really sure if it was intentional or not, but you can spam e on the lizard outside and monkey inside and can get MASSIVE which is hilarious. Overall really good!

Developer

Thanks so much! Good find on the spamming - that was not intentional and is a super helpful bug report. I'd triggered it on accident during playtests but couldn't do it twice in a row. :-D

This game was pretty outstanding to me. I was immediately immersed in the little guy's adventure, and the sound design helped a ton! You did an awesome job and I hope that I can play more of your games in the future!

Thank you so much! I'll post the finished product in the Discord chat once I complete it in a few weeks. Not sure what I want to make next or when, but I had fun with this so it might happen!

The gecko is my favorite! My main suggestion would be to trim the radius on some of your sounds, like the gecko actually took me awhile to find because I heard it almost at the start of the maze when it's actually up by the temple. I like that you had me checking everywhere for little things. The dialog pieces are great and you have some cool features. Great start!

Developer

Ooh, that piece on the radius is super helpful. I had trimmed a lot of them down, but tried to keep a couple slightly bigger to encourage the player to wander. Sounds like I need to calibrate so it's not too much wandering. :-)

Thanks for the great feedback!

I liked the environment you had set up, shows that you put some thought into your game! Using a hint system via sound is something I haven't seen done yet, so neat! I would love to see this game a little more fleshed out, I think it would turn out to be something really cool. You included a lot for only having 2 weeks I'm surprised.

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! I was trying to stretch myself and make something I hadn't played before, and I THINK I got there. If you stick around in the Discord, I do plan to finish the game sometime after the semester. My kids want to be able to beat it! Once I've finished I'll re-share the link.

great job, loved the concept and the dialogue, I ran in to the bugs that you stated, the game left me wanting to do more. I liked the  interactions you had going on, like the floor collapsing etc.

only complaint is the rip headphones at first haha, i don't know if there was controls to adjust or not.
suggestion could be to focus on one map or less characters due to the time constraints, so you could get working what you wanted.
There was a lot going on in the game, you defiently challenged your self.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Is the "rip headphones" thing consistent and reproducible? I ask because I thought I'd fixed that - lots of the sounds triggered on startup including the ones that are supposed to be very far away.

I totally agree that a smaller scope would have served me well. That's all over my reflection paper. :-) "Left me wanting to do more" is about the best feedback I could have hoped for, thank you!

I very much enjoyed the inner mind, and the funny little sound effects that each of the little critters had, the only real complaint I have with it was there were a few times the interactions didn't trigger, but they could have just been random things that could not be interacted with. If that's the case, you did a great job in making me want to go and check every nook and cranny for interactions!

Developer

Thanks for the great feedback! You bring up a good point that the interact button not working kind of forced you to explore. Maybe I could make that configurable for those who want it a little harder. There's a good chance some of the interactions didn't trigger, especially with the no-goodnik in the temple and the final boss. There's also a boulder tunnel that isn't directly interacted with.

Incredibly charming and funny! ABSOLUTELY worth having the sound on for the adorable sound effects on the gecko alone, but also for the lovely Ann, XD. There were a few places the collision was bugged and allowed me to clip through on accident, and it seemed like sometimes the interactions didn't work/trigger (unless I was trying to interact with people/things that didn't have interactions? Hard to say).
Love the vibes overall though! With a little bit of bug fixing and time, this would be a very cute adventure game.

Developer

Thank you very much!

Pretty neat showing off some things - namely - teleporting, interacting and talking, completing objectives (like picking up the torch over to the barrels). Some stuff is broken yea, I ran into most of what you described, but overall with some fixes it could be a nice little adventure.

Developer

I'm just glad to see somebody figured that out without having the interact buttons working. Thanks for the feedback, I had fun with it!
