Ok but how do I draw the sigils? Can't figure out where to be or what to interact with.

Developer

Thanks for trying our game ! We must have included a tutorial but ran out of time.
To draw rituals you have to go to the bottom left of the overall map. When you start the game you have to take the top left corridor, then go down left and up left again. You will see a interactible stop. Pressing 'E' on it, will open a blank drawing canvas where you can use your mouse to draw the rituals.

Mutus seems to be the final boss of the game for almost everyone, but even so it's an incredible concept and I really enjoyed it! Like the previous comment, I found it a bit difficult to read the crossed-out text, but as a design idea it's quite good. I think it would be enough to make the legible letters a little thicker so that they are easier to read!

Developer

Thanks for the play test ! We might reduce de corssed-out effect by a bit to make it a bit more readable. For our next game, we will focus more on adding a tutorial phase to learn the main gameplay mecanics.

The pixel art is beautiful ! I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't summon anything.  English isn't my first language, I had a hard time reading the crossed-out texts :'(

Developer

Yeah, that was a design choice we made, knowing it might be hard to read. In the end, we ran out of time to tweak it further, so it stayed that way. It gives off a cursed vibe that we actually appreciate. Next time, we'll add accessibility settings to make up for that.

A really cool game, the summoning mechanic is fantastic. I always like playing games that forces me to take notes as I play it's a nice experience.

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to test our game! I also enjoy games that don’t remind you of everything you’ve already seen or done.

What a cool concept for a game. Unlike others I summoned Mutus on my first try. Very well done, enjoyed it a lot.

Developer

Thanks! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the game and managed to summon Mutus. If you'd like to learn more about how we made the game, here's the GitHub link.

Very interesting! Like everyone else, I couldn't summon Mutus. I would suggest making the sigils require only lines instead of being chunky figures you have to fill in, or at least make the size of the drawing point a little bigger. It took me about ten minutes to draw the sigil for mutus only to find out it didn't work. (EDIT: even after seeing your note in the comments about how it should look...)

Developer

Thank you very much for trying the game and for the feedback, completely agree with you, we should have quantified the brush size according to the screen size, something we didn't think to do...

It should normally have worked by trying with the right sign, the difficulty of drawing it is much too big compared to the "reward" of invoking Mutus..

This game idea is so cool! I really loved being able to find the pages and go through them and then draw the symbols to summon the beings was awesome! Just like everyone else though, Mutus, I could not summon him and I tried many different ways to no avail.

Great job though would love to see more!

Thank you very much for trying our game! We'll catch up next time!

This is an awesome idea! The aesthetics are also fantastic.

Unfortunately I'm with the others in that I could not summon Mutus, I really tried my best! But for two weeks of development this is still insanely cool. Would love to see this developed further.

Developer

Thank you !

Yes, for Mutus, the indication in the book is not the good one..

could not summon mutus for the life of me but the graphics are mad cool dude

Developer(+1)

Quite sadly, the indication to invoke it is not the right one, due to lack of time and attention on our part...

Here is real drawing for Mutus...

Very cool game! I wish I was better at drawing because I couldn't summon Mutus, only Flosculus. Love the idea and the writing and visuals. I think I saw you post something in Discord about challenges running a CNN in Unity. Sounds wild. Do the strokes used to draw the images matter?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! 😊 Yes, for a CNN it is obviously important that the drawing actually corresponds to what the model expects: it is not only about the shape, but also the way the lines are arranged. And you are right, the allusion to summon Mutus is not quite the right one... it is deliberately a little misleading. This is why you couldn't invoke it... Here is an example image of Mutus rituals...
