Awesome idea, not great execution. The controls were inconsistent and I felt the time limit was unnecessary (which made the controls all that much worse).

It definitely has a ton of potential though. I look forward to see where you take this.

DeveloperSubmitted

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to try the game and give us feedback, we are already working on fixing the controls and level design, we hope to release the improved version soon enough :)

Submitted(+1)

I really like the game idea! Alot of cool levels could come out of this, but currently the controls and visuals are a bit buggy, And the walljump works on some walls, but on others not, so i could use some work.

but for a game jam game its great!

good job!

Hi there, thank you for trying the game out, we're currently working on fixing the game and have noted all the problems that have been noticed by the players and team. We hope to  release a fixed version soon enough :)

Overall a fun stylized platformer with a cool mechanic and a lot of potential for further development and exploration. I hope you keep working on this as I think it has the potential to do some really cool things.

I did find a few bugs. The credits screen doesn't scale correctly and is just stuck to the right side of the screen. Also, when coming out of the dark mode, if the character hits a wall they can sometimes stay in the wall jump pose and just kinda slide along the ground.

I suggest adding some particle FX to the character's hair to simulate smoke coming off of the fire. I also suggest adding some particle FX to the feet for movement would help give the game more juice and help it to feel better overall. I also suggest making a more linear level 1, I was confused that I needed to find the end portal, something more linear that maybe established a story could be nice if you wanted to keep working on this.

Hello, we plan on releasing a new version of the game with quite a few fixes and improvements. We're taking your feedback into account to help us make the overall game better. Thank you again for trying it out and for the good advice!

Submitted(+1)

Great game. The controls are good - although they would need some fine tuning - and the game's premise is interesting.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Thank you for the very motivating message!

Interesting concept with some nice visuals. The way it controls probably needs a bit of adjustment but it still plays okay. I would like to see more of the style and markings in places.

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for trying our game and for the comment! It is great to hear you liked the concept and visuals. We are already working further on this project and hope to release an improved version soon :)

Submitted(+1)

Visuals for this are really cool. The movement difference between light and dark is really cool, but it took me way too long to figure it out. A little tooltip in the menu or something would be nice. Some of the jumps needed in the dark zone were so narrow it looked like you weren’t supposed to do them (especially thinking of that right most bit in the first level). I definitely think this is a cool concept, though.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

We are glad to hear you enjoyed the graphics and mechanics of the game! We take notes of your feedback and we'll make sure to add it to our improvements :)

Submitted(+1)

Pretty good, there are a few visual bugs and some little things that could be tweaked, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for trying the game and for your comment, we already started working on fixing the various glitches :)

(Copied comment from the duplicate game page) The game conceptually is very good. The animations seem a bit snappy and at times, the character freezes in an unexpected pose. Some walls can be scaled and some can not and there should be some visual distinction indicating this fact. Technically, some work may be required but it is an awesome game overall. I would love to see updates for this game in the future :D

Thank you again for copying your comment :D

Really good, especially considering this is for a game jam. I did manage to somehow end up in a state where the player would get stuck in a wrong pose, and for some reason the jump button stopped working a few times. If you continue working on this I'd say just iron out the control issues and perhaps some smoother animations. But again, the concept is great, and the overall visuals are really good too. Nice entry!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for the motivating message and feedback! We definitely are going to work on all this and hope to release a new version of the game soon enough :D

Submitted(+1)

finished the game! It's pretty fun maneuvering inside the dark areas, and with the dash gives me a sense of freedom in the movement. though there's some visual glitches (like the player sprite not changing after I'm done clinging to a wall) and a difficulty in wall jumping (which could be polished a bit more), I really love the level design, especially the part where there's a hidden lumen, like how there was a subtle hints by how the platforms and the dark zones are positioned.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Thank you for trying the game out and for your comment. We are already fixing the various glitches and we'll work on making the controls more intuitive and better overall. We are glad you enjoyed the game!

Submitted(+1)

The game is fun and original, but the controls could be improved and there were some glitches here and there. The idea is good, and it has potential to be a more rounded game if you keep working on it :)

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for trying the game and the feedback! We have noted it and we'll take it into account while working further on the project :D

Very fun game, loved the shadow mechanic and loved the art. I had some glitches with wall jumping and some visual glitches but else very fun. Only down side was the glitches and to me it wasn't clear enough what i had to do in the beginning but else amazing game! :D

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Thank you for taking the time to try our game and giving your feedback! We hope to release a new version of the game soon fixing all the problems given :D

Fun game! I really loved the flame mechanic, it's really satisfying to jump into the dark areas and defy gravity! The art is nice! I think it could have done with showing which walls you can jump off of and which you can't, sometimes the black walls were climbable sometimes not. I also got stuck on level 4 or 5 (lots of moving platforms!), I couldn't find the 3rd flame, I've searched everywhere! It's a shame 'cos I was really enjoying it, I loved exploring and the flying around :D Well done! :D EDIT: level 7 I got stuck on, I think. 70 sec to start with, diagonal dark line at the beginning!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you for your message and constructive feedback! We are working on improving the points you talked about. I believe one of the flames in level 4-5 is actually hidden behind a wall at the very right part of the scene. We'll do our best to make the gameplay and puzzle a bit clearer to the player. We hope to release an improved version of the game soon enough :D

Nice work and I've made myself to the end.

This game has rich levels and professional design. Though the controling system is a bit problematic as well as some bugs in animation, its gameplay is no doubt outstanding.

Developer(+1)

We appreciate that you took the time and played through all the levels. We plan to create a more in depth narrative based experience using what we have as our basis. We will undoubtedly fix the animations problems and reconstruct the platformer controller. Cheers :)

DeveloperSubmitted

Indeed, thank you so much for the very motivating comment :)

Submitted(+1)

Overall pretty good game! The movement seemed a bit.. odd? But the levels were creative and built upon each other pretty well. Solid work!

DeveloperSubmitted

Hello and thank you so much for trying the game! We are already working on improving it and we hope to be able to release an improved version (without the glitches, with improved gameplay and better graphics) soon :)

Submitted(+1)

I like the ideea and the graphics. Took me a bit of time to figure out that i turn into a shadow when i walk in the darker area and also got a bit stuck on the third level. Also, sometimes the animation transition really quickly and it looks a bit wierd and glitchy.

DeveloperSubmitted

First of all, thank you for your comment, the feedback means a lot!

We'll try to make the mechanics clearer for the player, we are already working on improving the game and fixing the glitches and we plan on redoing and improving the animations and graphics since we'll have more time now :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Well I have only 32bit PC so I couldn't play it. But I try my best to rate it by the screenshots!

The visuals are quite impressive and look cool but I think the leveldesign looks a bit to similar. You could add a bit varation to the background for example with a stone pattern or other things.

But thats complaining at the highest level!

I can't comment on the music, game design, ... but I know that making a platformer is really hard so you can be really glad to finished it (bzw. the prototype). Well done guys! :)

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Hello and thank you for giving us feedback regarding the game! We are pleased to hear you liked the graphics, we are planning on improving the graphics and definitely plan on having proper environmental sprites in the future. Thank you for the kind and motivating comment!

Submitted(+1)

Solid piece of work. The graphics follow a coherent theme, and there's a decent amount of good looking animation for such a short project.

There's room for improvement when it comes to movement physics, they didn't feel "right" for me and it was sometimes hard to predict where the character would end up.

Also it was hard to get a proper walljump off, it wasn't clear to me when my character will bounce off a wall, and when will she stay on it.

Another minor thing is a how harsh and unbalanced the SFX were. Unity's audio mixer could help out a bit with levels and basic EQing, I'd wager.

Good effort, overall. Kudos for making a complete game!

DeveloperSubmitted

Hello and thank you for your message! We are taking notes of your feedback that includes some issues we had also noticed and some others that have been highlighted by other players. The feedback truly helps us make this game better, we already started working on improving it and are planning on also improving the graphics and animations. We'll definitely also look into the sound management to make the overall experience better :)

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed this. As others have said, I loved the visuals and menu aesthetic, and the floating flame mechanic was pretty cool. The human wall jumping was a little finicky at times, though, and I never felt like I truly understood how it worked.

DeveloperSubmitted

Hello and thank you for the comment! We are glad to hear you loved the aesthetic, visuals, and mechanics of the game. We take note of your feedback and we actually started working on fixing the glitches and hope to be able to do a lot more improvements in the future!

Incredible piece of work for such a short amount of time. From animations to sounds, mechanics  and overall feel of the game, it feels like an experience. One of the first game jam submissions that felt like an almost finished product. DO NOT stop working on this game at any cost, you must finish it and I will buy it from you guys. For the team that created this unfinished gem, you will go far if you keep on this road. Best of luck!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank you SO MUCH for this very kind and very motivating message, we are definitely not stopping there. We are currently regrouping all the feedback we can get to improve the game and already started fixing some of the bugs and making the gameplay more intuitive. We plan on improving quite a few aspects of it (e.g. The graphics) and adding more content.

Again, thank you!
