I earned $1.50! :D Wait lemons cost HOW MUCH take an economics class, kid!!

This was great :D I really enjoyed it, especially the first time I couldn't quite believe I had to do the whole thing, really fun! :D Suggestions; a bit more feedback when you hit the correct arrow would be cool. Also if it could take the input for the next arrow immediately after the correct one instead of waiting briefly you could speedrun it by memorising it! (or writing it doen on a bit of paper shhh) I think the best thing though would be if you had the arrows nearer to your animation, 'cos when I was trying really hard to earn my $1.50 I couldn't really see it cos I was concentrating on the arrows. If it overlapped in the middle or something it'd feel more immediate. I love the animation btw. :D Great stuff! :D:D

Developer

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

On one hand, I would have liked to put the arrows on top of the animation so they’re easier to enjoy.

On the other hand, it’s difficult to appreciate the beauty of a menial task until it becomes second nature.

Hmm… something I’ll have to think about.

The art is really cute! I like the satisfying animation and the simple controls, But it gets repetitive really fast, but I guess it's fine since the game only lasts a minute.

it's more like an interactive animation, but still, I had fun.

Developer

I like to think the repetitiveness really exemplifies the daily grind of a lemonade stand operator. :D

Thank you. I’m glad you had fun.

This is really cool, I tried to use Love2D ages ago but decided to use Defold instead because I wanted an IDE. It's cool to see people still using Love2D and utilizing it for game jams.

Overall this was a fun game, I like the flow of gameplay. I think it also fit in nicely with the theme. The art was really nice and fluid. I think the message of remembering the cost of materials when you make something is good too.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding sound effects and music.

Overall, super fun game!

I’ve been using löve for a long time. It holds a special place in my heart. Also I’ve written enough code for it I don’t really want to switch.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

I’ve been holding out on whether I want to publish an update but have been seriously considering it to add sound and music. It’s the biggest regret I have and the only thing keeping the game from being 100% finished in my mind.

That is the best part of doing game jams, after the fact you can do whatever you want with it. I can't think of a single game I've done for a jam that I haven't fixed up after the fact at least some. It's better to polish it up for future players in my opinion but that's up to you.

Developer

The only reason I wouldn’t want to update it is so I can work on another short game. I spent so long spinning my wheels getting nowhere on a game I have long since lost interest in, I’m a little jaded sticking with another project. I suppose I just want to keep this ball rolling to see what happens.

But you’re right. It wouldn’t take a lot of work to make the game much better and let’s face it, reach a wider appeal.

And I owe it to myself to see this one through. It is the first game I haven’t burnt myself out on before I got to the creative stage.

I must say I adore it, the childhood desire for a Bike and selling Lemonade to get just that little bit more money than parents will grant with allowances, the rhythm gameplay, the fluid animations when you press a key, even how it's the same buttons every time so you end up picking up the pace significantly the more you play giving it this sort of arcade game charm.

Overall neat and some minor sound effects added would have done wonders for the animations but with how the game is imagining them might just be half the fun.

The arrow patterns were meant to mimic the actual process of making lemonade (as best as four direction buttons allow). Like any task it gets easier and then it starts to become second hand.

One complaint I heard when I had someone play the game was they were spending all their time looking at the arrows they couldn’t watch the animation. However, like any task, there comes the point where it becomes automatic and then its just a matter of letting your brain relax and enjoy the process.

Haha :)

The animation/art is really ace, and it’s a cool mix on a sort of rhythm + clicker game. Sound/music that went in time with the arrow keys being hit would be a great addition, I think.

(Still chuckling about the message at the end to incorporate the theme :P).

Developer

I’m glad you liked the message at the end. If for no other reason, I wanted to finish the game just to tell that joke.

A simple but fun game, I really enjoyed it! I can definitely see this being expanded with a couple more recipes and maybe an order line. Some sound effects or background music would have been a nice touch, but otherwise great job!

Developer

Thank you.

I would have loved to add some music and sound effects. It’s definitely something I’d like to add to a potential future release.

The animations and art really sell the game! I could actually see this being expanded further with like different "recipes" maybe in an Overcooked style so that you have to manage different "lemonade dances" (the arrows reminded me a lot of DDR). Like maybe a raspberry lemonade or one with extra sugar having different "dance" steps that you need to remember and perform at the right time. Fun idea and solid execution!

Developer

Thank you. I’m glad you liked the animations.

I never really thought about how the game could be expanded but I like that idea.

Nice little game. Love the animations!

Developer

Thank you very much :D

What a sweet(heh) experience! Some audio would have made this even better!

Developer(+1)

Thank you.

I was planning to add audio, even going so far as to juice some citrus myself, but unfortunately I ran out of time.

This made me smile :D Nice idea!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. That was my hope while making the game so I’m happy to hear that.
