Nice artwork, and interresting patterns, however the bullets always despawn before reaching the bottom and you can't autofire, nice game overall though.

Great game with a great concept. Was very enjoyable to play. Great Job!

Greate game! Love the standout ideas represented in this game jam submission! Keep up the good work!

Submitted(+1)

Enemy design and aesthetics are very interesting, game is clunky at times (can't hold to shoot, bullets disappear before reaching the bottom) so a improved version after the jam would be very nice to see

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback! It is very important to know what needs to be fixed and not! Thankfully I've already worked on a lot of these concerns and in the next update a lot of these things will be completely fixed :3

The aesthetics here are incredibly unique. I love the design of the main character and of the strange monsters, and you've done a great job showing Thena's mind-scape. This is a very cool concept, and it could be very interesting as a longer game, since I imagine different people would have different mind-scapes depending on the problems they're experiencing.

As some of the other commenters have said, having to click every time you want to shoot is a little awkward. A key you can hold down would be nice to have. Apart from that, though, the gameplay worked well, and I had no trouble learning the controls.

Well done. This is a very stylish entry.

Developer

Man reading this really inspired me a lot! I really like making something different and strange at the same time, i really hope to keep living to expectations and make even more! Definitely going to concentrate on making this game better and expanding on it!

Already working on a nice juicy update to iron out a lot of those bugs mentioned!

Also added the auto shoot :P and new keys to control the character!

Pretty fun, but really short unfortunately, we want more!

The visual and music are trippy as hell, and I'm here for it! I don't know if you'll do more, but if it's the case I'll be here to play it :)

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! I am already working on the updated version and will definitely keep expanding on this project! Im already thinking of making this bigger, and adding multiple levels, so stick around >:D

Really fun game, great work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you man! loved your game!

This game is pretty stylish! The colors look nice together and the bullets are easy to see, and the music fits really well - I'm not sure if you've made it yourself or used royalty-free tracks, but either way the main menu, level, game over and game completed music all add up to the style nicely!

Although, the player controls are a weaker point and could use some improvements. Specifically, the shooting part requiring you to press the mouse button key every time to shoot 1 bullet. It would be nice to add autoshot, or if the game would require shooting precision at some points (like, if you add enemies which are not supposed to be shot, e.g. Thena's mind fragments or somesuch?) - at least do it in short bursts so you don't have to spam the button, the finger gets tired and the mouse gets used up this way too, especially considering how tanky some enemies are.

Being able to control with arrow keys and shoot with the keyboard as well would be nice, arcade style games sometimes let you use z,x,c,v for shooting and other stuff, though everyone's got their own tastes. Perhaps let the player use both wasd + mouse, as well as arrow keys + z?

The game also was a bit laggy when a lot of bullets were on screen, and some bullets even disappeared before reaching the lower part of the screen. Still, these bugs can be fixed, and with some improvements the game will certainly become really cool! Again, I really like the style, especially how creepy the game over screen is, and the cuteness of Thena on the game completed screen :3

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for the feedback! It really helps to get a second hand opinion! I am already working on a lot of the things you said! I added the controls for keyboard and z for shooting, will be making a tutorial later for that as well!  I also implemented the continuous shooting by holding down the left button on mouse or the z.

Also the music in the game was all made by me as well! I am so happy you enjoyed it!

Been dealing with the lag as well now all objects disappear once they leave the screen, freeing up a lot of the lag that was being experienced!

Fixed the part were the bullets would not reach the lower part of the screen!

And finally been working on the character health feedback! So a lot in the works and much more to come! XD

This looks great! I was a little confused at the start as there was no in-game explanation for what was going on, or the controls, but the artwork looks amazing! I'd be really interested to see this further developed!

Developer

Oh man thank you so much! That is the intention! I plan on further developing the story and all the mechanics further and trying to make it easier for the user to understand what is going on! So if you are interested give me a follow ill keep up the updates :3

Good job getting it out!! Character design and visuals look really cool, shame you ran out of time, would of loved to seen it developed a bit more!

Developer

Hey thank you so much! Those words really inspire me, I have the intention of developing it further and seeing were it goes! I'm planning on adding more story and additional gameplay elements and more refinement! thanks again for the feedback!

Lots of kool and interesting things in this game.
The art and music come together well.

Screen size came up weird for me, took up to much screen vertically, and I couldn't go full screen.
Also the enemy particles disappeared before the bottom, leaving me a safe space.

But other then that, it had a fun vibe and feel, and a great platform to build further from. :)
Great job, well done

I am trying to figure out the best resolution for the game, due to time I was not able to test much the resolution and late in I realized it didnt work well on smaller screens, made me sad Q_Q but I had to continue XD But I will be working on that in the non jam version of the game, thank you so much for the compliment on the music and art, im really proud of making that stuff! I will be working on balancing and difficulty and adding extra levels to the game! thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting concept, I really liked the character design and the bullet hell patterns, not to mention the artwork at the end. One thing that I'm not entirely sure was on purpose is the fact that the bullets were disappearing before reaching the bottom of the screen, so I had kinda of a safe spot which made the game a bit easy. Also, I wish I could hold the click button to continuously fire bullets.

Other than that, I had fun getting to the end and I think the atmosphere of this game is something new and captivating - the sinister monsters and slow bullet patterns, along with the eerie music creates a very special mood. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the support! There is definitely work to be done! I wanted to expand more and even have story bits adding to the lore and more additions to the gameplay, and this was a great beta test! Will definitely be updating after the jam! Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool game, controls were a bit weird for me since im used to having arrow keys for moving, and z for shooting. Also like how the games visuals look.

Developer(+1)

OOoh I should add that as well! Don't worry, having more options will help players to!

Submitted(+1)

The story and character design is super well made in your entry, also I enjoyed the trippy visuals and sounds of the game. Controls are also working nicely here, the patterns while being quite basic serve their purpose. It is also clearly visible, which things you should avoid. Some improvement ideas:

- some juice/game feel! like particle effects, camera shake and stuff when being hit or when enemies take dmg

- some proper progession, like different levels and enemies

Overall, a fun idea with a nice story and theme :)

We'd greatly appreciate if you had time to check out our submission as well!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Due to the time constraints I was not able to implement a lot of what you mentioned Q_Q but dont worry im working on it and as soon as the jam is over ill be putting up a juiicy update hahaha

Submitted(+1)

Really cool blend of ideas here,

I like how this is kind of psychonauts meets shmup gameplay, so un unexpected mix but that works quite well.

Some small negative aspects, i'd say that there is a bit of a lack of feedback when the player gets hit or not, and i didn't really see where health was displayed cause i got hit a few times but i was able to continue, yet i didn't know how much hp i had, also no autofire and having to spam click the gun wasn't that great, also sad that there didn't seem to be any weapon powerups to add more variety.

Now that said the game is fun to play and has some really cool artwork, i knew i recognised that artstyle, cause i remember playing another game of yours on a past jam and this gave me the same miyazaki inspired vibe on character design as your mech pilot did :)

Overall had a good time playing through, good job ^^

Developer(+1)

You are completely right! There are a few aspects I have to work on, And I want to finish it because I want to expand on this concept a lot more! I definitely need more feedback shown to the player, as you mentioned the health bar and getting hit, and also the patterns and difficulty! But thanks so much the feedback helps a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game with nice visuals. The music was very nice and it was quite enjoyable to see a slower pace approch to the bullet hell theme.

If you were to go further try to work a bit more on the feedbacks when the player is hit or hitting the ennmy, and the signs on how HP the player has left. There were also some ways to exploit the system like staying at the bottom where the bullets didn't reach.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! You are completely right about the character hp, I was trying to implement the hp meter, but I didn't have enough time, so I put it up anyways, but I am definitely going to update and fix those issues with the exploit and the health system! Thanks for the great feedback! Hopefully I can make a longer game with more features!

Submitted(+1)

Nice pattern, well done !!

I really like the chara design ;)

Nice entry

Developer

Thank you so much! Hopefully can do more with it in the long run!

Classic with a visual twist!

Developer(+1)

Gotta love them classics right! XD

Submitted(+1)

Enjoyed how spooky the combination of music and enemies feel. I did find I could just stay at the bottom of the screen and dodge everything.

Developer

Man thank you so much! I enjoyed making the music for this game, and the art, so it was fun making it all combine, as for the lower screen you are completely right, I will adjust the patterns and bullet spawn time and that should fix it, thanks!

Submitted(+1)

I liked that you used 3D sound. The pause reminds me a lot of super nintendo games too haha Congratulations on the submission (a little late, but it's worth it! haha)

Developer

Thank you so much! I really loved that super nintendo feel ahaha I want to expand a lot more on it, so I will keep working on the game and putting more retro crisp!
