How does you game fit the theme?
The game is about the search for extra-terrestrial life. It's about the important question, are we alone? So, it's a play on the theme.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code, but the assets (free open licence) were mostly by other people.
Original game in the game jam, the idea is well thought and complete.
It's still a lot of fun to make a lot of money. I understand that some people love to accumulate money IRL ^^
With a little more time and more readable graphics this game would be successful in my opinion.
Congratulations for the work!
Cool clicker game! I love that you can actually place everything yourself. The art style is awesome.
As suggested I just enjoyed building my lab and it turned out to be very fun!
Really relaxing game- My people are happy. That’s all that matters xD
I like the idea for the game. The play on the theme was also interesting.
The buttons could only be pressed on the top part of them. I'm on a 2K monitor, not sure if that has something to do with it.
Loved the design. Easy to understand how to play, and the music fits well! Keep up the good work!
Very aesthetically pleasing game! The little music was nice, and the little animations and actions that those little staff members perform are also pretty cute! The instructions were pretty clear imo, you have money, you have packs to buy, so you buy packs and place cards, very intuitive. However, there are a few things that I would like to point out (that I hope you could take into account for future improvement) : First, what is the focus of the game? Is it the income that the staff produce, gaining more and more money over time? Or is there some unordinary thing that is supposed to happen in the field after a while? Well if it's the former, then I think there should be at least a small animation where a number pops up like (+$100) on top of a staff member everytime they produce money, and the money text should be larger and more visible, so when there is a change, it would be very noticable. If it's the latter, I suggest that there should be some sort of hint of that something happening, or make it happen sooner (since it is a jam game after all). I went to day 460 with like $200k and 200M stars (which idk what it is for) and nothing much really happened so I left it at that. Another thing I would suggest to modify is that when a pack is too expensive to buy, instead of removing it from the options, just make it greyed out so that there is something to aim for.
Now other than that, the game was very well-made for the short amount of time. A great touch to the game was the post-processing that really gives it a cool vibe to it. Another well-implemented thing is the placement of the tiles, very clear and easy to place tiles with no overlapping as well. Things worked as they intended and I didn't really encounter any bugs. The font was very readible and suits the style. Really well-done, good job!
Oh wow, thank you so much for such a detailed and well thought out response! Comments like these make itch such a valuable resource for indies.
As it was a 7 day game jam, I didn't really add any kind of end game. It's just meant to be a short, calm, easy, relaxing game. The money is produced every tick (day), so it happens constantly.
Great idea about the pack, that would have made the UI so much better. Wish I'd thought of it. Thanks so much.
Interesting and relaxing take on the theme, love the animations of the staff just walking around. It wasn't immediately evident what "mood" did but it made sense after a bit. One problem though is when you restart the game using the restart button, the prices of each pack remains the same, I ended up softlocking myself after a few playthroughs :\
Great game but I feel like UI could be improved
Please check out my game and give a rating too ;)
Damn, that's a hard game to get into ^^'. I clicked mostly randomly at the beginning, trying to understand, butt withour success. I then read the instructions a couple of times, retryed, but nothing... I've read the other comments, and people seemed to enjoy the game, so I didn't want to give up. Then watched the video, and I finally started to understand (thank you for the video).
So, for anybody stumbling upon this comment : don't trust the order of the items in the menu, start to buy STAFF MEMBERS xD.
Now, my review : once you've understood what is going on in the game, it's quite good honestly. It's a chill little experience, and I spent a bit of time hiring some people, getting some equipment and furniture. The ambiance is very calm and I enjoyed watching the numbers grow. It's also a very original take on the theme.
Strangely enough, even of it took me some time to understand, the game is, in fact, quite simple, and I found myself asking for more interactions. Like a "hunger" bar for the staff member, so I would need to replenish the food from time to time, or some hasards, to hire some specific staff.
So yeah, it's quite a good game and I enjoyed playing it, congratulations =).
considering i just spent in insane amount of time on this, id say, it is a very addictive game, my only concern is the lack of items, id say keep developing this game after the jam, you have a good game on your hands
Nice interpretation of the theme! Once you get started those numbers really climb quickly, although I didn't find any extra terrestrial life :(
Nearly perfect for a game made in 1 week. Loved the unique visuals and the sound effects. I think gameplay just needed a bit more work. But good job! (alert, shameless self promotion coming) You should go try my game it is the perfect game to rage to. Or are you too scared to play??
