I really enjoyed it! Great level design, I loved seeing parts of the level interconnect - even if the levels here don't have that much sense of scale. I can imagine this being easily expandable with a few more levels. Also, the graphics were pretty nice! I wasn't a fan of the main character design, but all the effects and style easily made up for it.

Now for the flaws, which are nitpicks at most: when you are rewinding and press a button, the object that the button affects moves in forward motion, which is kind of unintuitive. Also, when rewinding, the turrets keep shooting forwards, which is kind of weird (you end up with one bullet going forwards and another going backwards at the same time). I know how hard this can be to implement, especially in a game jam, so I completely understand you not having done it: I'm just throwing ideas for a future version, if you want to do it. Something which may be easier to implement: I think it's kind of annoying that you can't interrupt the rewinding at will! You should have another button to resume forwards motion. OR, more interestingly, you should use that to your advantage! Have a level where you need to time a jump when you're in a rising platform or something, so that the inability to stop rewinding at any time turns into an interesting challenge for the player.

Overall: great game! I really enjoyed it. The list of flaws is huge because I'm terrible at explaining, if we went by importance it would be 95% praise and 5% criticism. Good job!

Thank you! We really appreciate all the feedback and will have everything in mind if we make a post-jam version, the points you gave are very interesting and will be taken in future games and updates.

Amaaaazing game, I really like the merge between puzzle and skill, now for improvements, music restarts on every death, the colliders don't work all the time, I would sometimes go under the pink thrower thing and if I would stop the pink thing won't register the collision every time. I also really love the distortion and Post-Processing you add to indicate the rewind, congrats and I hope you polish even more, add some more particle effects, SFX, and levels! I'm very happy I'll be your 20th Rating

Would You Mind Giving My Team And I Some Feedback on our game too?

Edit: Putting Which Level You Are On Through Text on the UI would be very useful, also, maybe checkpoints would be a good git for the game too, not sure

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! About the music restarting on death, that shouldn't happen, I've tried to replicate it and it didn't happen, the music is set in a game object which doesn't destroy on load and it keeps looping, I would like to know how it happened, the pink plasma balls don't explode when colliding on cannons, we forgot about that before the deadline, sorry for that! And thanks for the feedback, i'll check out your game now!

Edit: (The levels indicator) That's something we'll have in mind if we do a post jam version, like putting a sign with the floor number and a door which indicates the start of each level, this way the UI won't be so intrusive and can help on identifying on which level you are now, and adding checkpoints would be nice for more complicated and long levels, so we'll definitely have that in mind!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

20 Ratings!! Thank you for playing, and very happy you liked it, about the collisions we'll have that in mind for future games, and sure, im also going to try your game.

Really nice UI, graphics and implementation of the theme. Great job!

Developer

Thank you!

a solid puzzle platformer :)

adding particles to player death and waiting a a second or two before respawning would be a lot better.

being able to be crushed and die under falling platforms can be fun aswel :)

overall great entry Good job!

Developer

We'll have that in mind in the future, Thanks for the feedback!

Post processing tutorials please? xP

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Use a lot of color aberration, film grain, a bit of bloom and vignette and if you want that VCR TV feel add some Lens Distortion

I don't actually know so much about post processing lmao, I just go and adjust the settings until I feel like it's neat.
But yeah, color aberration it's my best friend.

Really unique game and I really enjoyed it. There were some bugs when the player got stuck under platforms but apart from that the game was very fun for me at least.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Sadly we couldn't fix some bugs in time so we are sorry for everyone who had to deal with them

Well its not a bad game per se, but this game has the problem of several platformers in the jam so far, which is that the "rewind" mechanic has nothing to do with rewinding time, but to just tell a platform to move in the opposite direction, that isn't rewinding, its just remote control at best.

- The death rays are pretty unforgiving for a puzzle game

- Collisions are a bit wonky, you can clip through a moving platform when its rewinding

- The puzzles themselves are fine, not really outstanding or anything but decent

- Aesthetic and sound design are great

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback, we couldn't use so many time on polishing the collision and doing more levels to improve the puzzles and giving the rewind more uses, but we have in mind some ideas to make better use of the mechanic in a possible post jam version, and we'll make sure to make the rays more useful in the puzzle half of the game. About the rewind, actually you can move the platforms at your will with your head and the rewind will play that backwards, but we couldn't find a good use for that in time.

great game i like the artstyle and gameplay is very fun well done

Developer

Thank you!

This game is really cool! The addition of the projectiles part way through stop it becoming too predictable and forces you to be a bit more careful with figuring out which buttons do what, which adds a whole lot more to the game

Developer(+1)

Thank you, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the game!

I liked the look of the character and level tilemap, which really matched the soundtrack and overall sci-fi feel. I felt like the puzzles weren't quite hard enough; more like a series of tasks than a challenge. Granted, it can't be easy designing time puzzles at all. Platforming elements felt pretty good to me. Nice work on this one!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We'll try to improve the difficulty of the puzzles next time!

Submitted(+2)

I loved the animation for the shootings and the level design! Maybe you can try apprimorate the physics of the jump.

I had a great time exploring the map and solving the puzzles. Is a really nice and catchy game!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thanks for the feedback, tough I want to know more about what it can be improved about the jump so we make it better the next time!

Submitted

Oh, right! I think the time of the jump is a way too long and doesn't match really well with the height of your character and the scenario. Try to test the difference of the distances~

You will do greaat! Has a lot of potential

Submitted(+2)

I remembered a video from GMTK where among other things he explores the dynamics of the jumps in relation to different characters and what itimplies in the feel of the game. Take a look after 3:11 on the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yorTG9at90g, it may be helpful eventually hehe (i know that for such a short period of time that the jam imposes it may be an overkill to take this kind of analysis over simple mechanics like the jump, but the video also brings a lot of info, so i think it's nice to share it anyway).

Developer(+2)

Oh, will definitely make sure to have that in mind in the future. Thank you for the info!

Great game! I like how a single block can fill multiple purposes, like being a platform but also blocking bullets. I think a really cool addition would be having already-exploded bullets come back to life and move backwards, making you think twice before hitting that shift key.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

I'm glad you liked  the multiple uses we give to the plattforms. And yeah, bullets coming back would be an interesting feature, we're thinking of made an expantion of this game, if we made it we'll have that in mind.

Submitted(+2)

Really nice graphics! The game design is good as well, although it would be helpful to have a map of some sort since some areas are quite big. Also, the camera feels like it might be just a bit too zoomed in, but that's just me.

Developer

We'll have that in mind, in the future we'll design the camera in a better way so it can see more at the same time, and the map we felt like it wasn't necessary because part of the gameplay involves navigation and exploration. And thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Nice rewind mechanic and loved how it was visualised! Really nice to play too, great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Really happy you liked it  C:

Submitted(+2)

Submitted(+2)

I liked the animation. Very consistant art style.

Developer

Thank you, this is actually my first time doing a humanoid sprite and animation so its really cool to hear that!

Submitted(+2)

Super fun 2D platform with a lot of skill based puzzles! Excellent entry.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing, really appreciated.

Submitted(+2)

Cool game! there were a couple of glitches on the last level that got me stuck, but other than that, great!

Developer

Thank you, and we'll have that in mind in the future!
