How does the game fit the theme?
This game sees you battle for cat biscuits using various coloured dice, each with their own effect.
The best dice, however, are also the riskiest to use, as the stronger the die, the lower the odds of their effect helping.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most SFX are modified online assets under Creative Commons from freesound.
The font used is BoldPixels made by @YukiPixels on 1001Fonts.

An exquisite little game, clean and fun. It runs smoothly, And I enjoyed it. Congrats. :D

Cool dice game! Was a little slow to pick up on it, but once I got going it was quite fun! Also, very satisfying to see all the buffed dice stack and give you a crazy number at the end of the round. One thing that confused me a little was the rerolling, I think it's just the animation but sometimes I wasn't sure if it rerolled the dice I selected at all. Maybe there can be an added animation to show that something actually happened, even if it lands on the same number again. Also, I think some different music could have really brought out the vibe on the game. Great work!

I really liked this game!

Orange dice - I could never track which dice it was changing, consider having it pick the five random dice before hand. That way the player can weigh the risk of

Yellow dice - Needs a better explanation, I only understood what was going on when I read your out of game explanation. My quick fix suggestion would be placing the example you made in the mouseover explanation.

Black - Haven't been able to try this out yet, but I assume it rolls as a way to figure out which black will steal from the other if it shares a row with an enemy black?

Wow this game is addicting! I made it all the way to the last level and ended up getting beat. Had to call it or I would be on all night haha. The visuals are all stunning, and the audio fits perfectly! The gameplay is super fun as well, and I could honestly see myself playing this as a full game with more dice in it! I hope you come back to it, but if not I'll be back either way to claim that victory!

Well done all!!!

really nice work! I loved clicking the settings menu button, very satisfying interaction on that with the sound and the rotation. I’m not sure why the fullscreen button interrupts the music though?

I like dice games a lot and this is really solid, though ultimately felt a little less controlled than I’d like. I was also a bit confused why rerolling doesn’t just end your turn afterwards? With black dice, they only “nullify” the effects of the other dice I think? That wasn’t super clear to me.

A really solid, great entry altogether even if I had some confusion. Great work! :)

Thank you for the feedback! It means a lot for you to take the time to critique us and help us grow. I am a little more proud of the settings button than I realistically should be so I'm glad to see someone besides me likes it too. Fullscreening interrupts the music due to an oversight in a hotfix that was not spotted until now so thank you for pointing that out.

We do want to give the player a little more agency and a little less punishment in future updates as we feel the game submitted is more of a "Challenge Mode" than anything. Rerolling doesn't end your turn to give the player as much time to process what is happening as they like, although an Auto Mode possibly built into Fast Mode will be a good thing to consider. Also yes black dice turn their opposing die white for the round. We were quickly made aware that our in-game explanations were a tad unclear, so the description has a more detailed guide to the mechanics in the meantime.

We're glad you enjoyed in spite of any confusion, and we hope it didn't impact your experience too much.

Very cool game! Spent a lot of time in it :3

Very cool! I like the sound effects a lot. The gameplay is interesting as well! Everything works so well together. It feels incredibly polished and super close to an actual retail game! I think you could totally make this a fully fledged game with just more content!

Nice! animation, art, sfx, everything is just flawless and responsive, I wish I could comment more about the gameplay but I really don’t know dice lol what I know is that the playing feels nice and smooth! for 2 people, this is an amazing entry and you should be proud

Really nice game, the animations are really smooth.

Really solid game with great visuals and a nice concept!

I wish I could see what goes on at least with the dice that are open, but it was really fun to try and risk it XD

The visuals were so cute, and the game feels very polished. The baltro style dice game is simple but very effective.

Really well made and polished game, it was definitely fun and interesting to play. The background music could've been more than just that hihat loop, but it was still a great game. Good Job!

Developer

Thank you! Details are important and music is a huge detail. We are confident our music is far better than what it could have been had we not taken some time on it but we do want to improve in a future update

The dice upgrade effects are fun, and the simple rules are a big plus. I'm glad I found such a great game.

Thank you, it's really nice to hear you liked it! We plan to keep it just as simple, even if the details get a little more complex

This is such a clever and polished take on a dice game. The mix of different colored dice with unique effects kept every round fresh, and I loved how quickly the strategy ramps up after the first turn. The sound design (especially the tactile dice rolls and cat paw animations) makes it super satisfying to play, and the chill music ties everything together nicely.

That said, I definitely felt both sides of the randomness...sometimes it made me feel brilliant for pulling off a huge score, other times one unlucky roll ended my entire run. I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all (it’s part of the charm), but adding a little more player agency, like synergies between dice, or a “second chance” mechanic instead of an instant reset could push the strategic layer even further.

Overall, it’s one of those “just one more game” loops that had me replaying way longer than I expected. Really impressive entry, and I’d absolutely love to see this fleshed out into a full release with more dice, upgrades and balancing around the risk vs reward. Fantastic work!

Developer

Thank you for playing and taking the time to leave such detailed feedback! This is our first jam, so it makes us really happy that our hard work paid off into something that feels polished and satisfying to play. ^^
We completely agree with some of the things you pointed out - the randomness does go both ways, so more player agency does feel needed, especially in those first few turns. We will also continue to consider other options of handling losing turns, such as adding a second chance mechanic like you suggested, as it seems something a bit more forgiving would be more enjoyable to most players (currently it maybe feels more like a challenge mode). We're really glad you enjoyed though, and thank you again for leaving such great feedback! :)
