How does the game fit the theme?
A kaiju doing city demolition can surely not go wrong at all.

It was great! I was a little confused on how to survive for long. It seemed like I would kill the other kaiju once and then I’d want to turn my attention to destroying buildings but I couldn’t because another one would appear! I didn’t stand a chance because I was already low on health. A way to heal would be good :)
Loved it!
healing is in the upgrades but you gotta beat it first to get it _-_
I think of I were to remake this I'd probably make healing an ability that you can use at the start
Ohhh - that makes sense! Haha, my b.
Fun! The mix of fighting the other kaiju and destroying the building was cool, but it felt a bit annoying to stand by the building hitting it, waiting for stamina to come back but also having to sacrifice fighting the other kaiju to do
yeah I think next time I'll give things to do during downtime aside from dodging the enemy

A simple fun game
yippee!
Funnest game I've played so far in the jam. It's very simple but I think that's why I like it! A few notes I had:
- I think you get all the upgrades too fast, it took me like 4 rounds before getting everything, I'm not sure if that was intentional design decision though.
- I didn't feel too motivated to avoid hitting people, I was making bank anyway (probably because the upgrades weer so easy to get) so the people hardly mattered to me after first 2 or 3 rounds.
It was very fun! I think the audio could use a lot of work, but this game is very charming and has a unique identity. I love the combat mechanics, they're simple to understand but the combination of front and tail attacks as well as the careful timing is really clever. Even though I didn't care about hitting people, it was fun timing my attacks anyway so that I could hit a kaiju and the building at the same time while not hurting humans.
Overall great game. :)
The easy moneymaking was an intentional thing, yeah. Since it's a game jame people probably wouldn't be playing each game too long so I bumped up the numbers. The money you loose from collateral damage is also intentionally low so that you wouldn't care that much about breaking them and that meant that you could go around killing people and throwing debris everywhere(theres a reason why highest collateral and people killed is in the highscores lol). I if i were to expand this to a larger game i'd probably add more reasons to not commit mass amounts of murder
OMG!! This Godzilla's battle is So Fun!! HAHA
thank you :D
Nice concept, although I kept getting destroyed by the enemy kaiju... haha. Potentially just me, but I couldn't really find a way to reliably kill them without losing health.
Great sprites and movement!
according to other people, it's also too difficult for them, so i think i just gotta balance the enemy ai better next time
Kaiju sprite was cute lol. Nice artstyle choice. Though I found it a bit difficult but I think thats a skill issue XD
nah it seems like other people had issue too with the difficulty. gotta rememeber to turn it down next time
The kaiju crouch sprite was hilarious. Cool game and fun enough that I bought all the upgrades. The flavor text for the upgrades were a nice touch too
your compliments have been delivered to the chef (my friend who made the kaiju sprite)
Cool stuff! I found it a bit too difficult, but I really liked the mechanics overall :)
thank u :D
Neat little game. Pretty simple but the gameplay loop was quite satisfying to my monkey brain, enough to make me play until I bought all the upgrades.
One game design related thing I’d point out is that I think the camera should only follow the kaiju sideways, and not upwards. There isn’t much to see up above, and it would help the player avoid landing on people.
Oh, that's a good point. I'll be sure to implement that the next time ill be making something like this
the controls were so satisfying, who knew a kaifu would be that flexible haha. This is a solid game man keep it up <3
thank you!! i was considering making the speed lower to match what an actual kaiju would be like but higher speed just feels better to control
I liked that you could get upgrades and the idea of a Kaiju having a job was interesting lol! It lagged occasionally for me but otherwise a solid game, good job!
yippee!!
Cool game ! It lags a little bit but it's still great !
thank u :D
Not bad. It's playable, the combat is interesting and balancing between doing the job and dealing with the other monster is good. It's a typical fighting game, and the upgrades give you something to go for.
I had some initial difficulty figuring out what I was supposed to be doing and it took a couple tries to figure out that I was supposed to knock down the building then defeat all enemy monsters.
The upgrades are pretty bland. They amount to stat upgrades. While stat boosts are nice, after a few plays of the game, I don't see how the stat boosts actually change how I play the game. You're still doing essentially the same thing: knock down a building, fight a monster. In that sense, other than serving as a carrot, the upgrades don't add anything to the experience. However, they do feel thematic.
This is a mostly conventional fighting game, which is fine.
honestly, since this is my second time ever coding a game by myself, playable is the height of what i can go for lol
thanks for the review, though! the feedback's appreciated
Making a playable game in a week is an accomplishment. It's a hard thing to do. That's why these are not easy. That was actually my goal for this game jam myself (also solo), after previous ones where I was overambitious with my goals and BARELY got something out the door.
When giving reviews, I try to not just say "Good job." There's not much content in that review, and there's plenty of reviews like that. Critical comments foster growth. That's my philosophy.
nice game
thank u :3
That's the end of me, great helmet!
Btw the game is fun and responds well to inputs, the sound of the jump adds a very fun side. :)
Speaking of jumping, I jumped on my opponent just before he jumped, and we went a long way together!
didnt intend for the enemy to become a uberjump pad but now they are i guess lmao
Awesome game! My cash kept disapearing after every round and idk if thats an issue!
that is an issue. uh. not that I can do anything about it now _-_
that was fun XP it took me a while understanding how to attack but when i did it was very fun :D , the art style was very nice as well!
Your compliments have been sent to the chef (my art friend :3)
Had fun purchasing all the upgrades! I kinda feel like the health and armor upgrades are maybe a bit too strong, I was basically invincible in my last playthrough xD
yeah,,, didn't balance things out correctly. was planning on spending a day on sorting balance but you know how game jams go X/
