How does the game fit the theme?
Making typos in the typing game segments spawns enemies that attack you.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
A few fonts, some engine plugins.

Overall it was fun, but I think you should add check points between levels and the sound of enemy getting closer to you.
Interesting idea, though somehow I was expecting it to turn into horror as soon as the introduction ended. Didn’t get to the end of the basemen though, as I couldn’t figure out how to shake the enemies chasing me.
Goodness gravy, I am a wimp! This game had me jumping at every scary noise! I loved the twist :)
Great job!
Great concept for a game. Really unique. Great for everyone learning to type on keyboards.
Very polished work, great atmosphere and visuals, very strong gameplay loop!
sadly a lot of inputs are kinda messed up on azerty layout, I can switch over to a virtual qwerty layout and play with an image open in another window to know where the special characters are but that ended up being a bit too demanding for me to get past the basement. really glad I got to see it though!
Do you perhaps have a git for this project? I'd love to make a PR for azerty support, I feel like i'm missing out!
Thank you! This is the second comment we've gotten related to AZERTY keyboard layouts. I'm happy you offered to fix it, but I think we've got it under wraps for the post-jam version! The way we were handling the typing challenge before was not optimal, we created what is effectively our own version of a textbox instead of using the one provided for us by the engine. This was because of a massive oversight on how we could handle the text being displayed with the correct styling.
The new version I'm working on now makes use of Godot's TextEdit node, which I believe by default has support for different keyboard layouts. If it doesn't, I think we could figure it out from here. Thanks a lot for letting me know about your problems with AZERTY, it's helpful to know. Glad you enjoyed the bit that you got to play!
Really cool retro-style liminal horror game. Honestly stellar work.
It was amazing! The typing challenges and fun enemy spawns kept me totally hooked, and I loved the retro vibe

A cute game and this one is creating thrilling experience unlike the visuals suggests.
I don't know why but I both had to press shift and capslock to input an exclamation mark, the game was fun nonetheless!
Ah, thank you! I had heard that there were problems on Opera GX. As for the AZERTY layout, we didn't test the game with anything but QWERTY, but that's most likely not a problem since our engine should support AZERTY. The problem is most likely with Opera, but we will have to consider testing other layouts when it comes to the post-jam version. Again, thanks for your reply.
This game is probably the best liminal/horror game of the jam! The animations were so clean and the world felt like it was straight ripped outta the early 2000s / late 90s. Also, kinda off topic, but if yall ever make a blender tutorial for the kangaroo please lmk!! (its like deep magic i wanna learn so badly :sob:)
Thank you so much! :)
Terry's model and animations were done by another contributor (Qordan). I did all the sprite animations and the enemy models + animations. In terms of how it was done, it was pretty basic blender modelling that you can learn anywhere else. I recommend you look into how to model low-poly character models in blender.
Learn the basics by replicating what other people have done, and then branch out slowly by making original character models. For the animation style on the models. we set the keyframe interpolation mode to "continuous" if i remember correctly. Glad you liked the game, I really appreciate the kind words!
This had such a foreboding feel. Absolutely crushed it with the juxtaposition of the foreboding atmosphere and a children's learning game. It felt like a game they would have made me play in 3rd grade. Great job!
A small robot like attacked me in a possible weird matrix simulation watermelon like after losing sight of my kangoroo teacher
Cinema
I absolutely loved this! I love typing games, give me 50 levels of it rn!! I love how stress inducing and scary it got on the final level, unfortunately i couldnt finish it, the game wasnt detecting my special characters keys like < and i got caught. But very very fun game and awesome models!! And love the meta story telling!
Thank you! It's weird that you couldn't type those characters, you mind telling me if you were playing on the web build or executable? If you were on web what browser do you use? Thanks again for your kind words! I've made up my mind that we will be working on a post-jam version, so you can expect that some day.
Hi!! I was playing in the web version using the opera gx browser. My friend also had the same problem (with the same browser), the thing is if i pressed shift i could type the > but just not the normal < which is pretty weird. Thank you for being so sweet! I'll definitely be looking forward to a post game jam version, I can't wait to see where this game goes!
(Oops I replied to the wrong comment, pretend I replied to your other reply lol)
Ah, that's unfortunate. It works fine on chrome and firefox, sorry it didn't work on opera. If it helps, there is an executable you can download if you want to experience the ending at some point! As for the models, I made the enemies and another contributor (qordan) modeled Terry. Glad you liked them. :)
My teammate showed me this game a while ago, and I beat it despite my terrible sense of direction. Making subpar temporary code for the jam reminded me how terrible my typing was when typing anything other than words. It's really clever how someone used a similar feeling as a catalyst for a whole game.
I will say that death is a bit harsh. I had to go back all the way to the start every time I messed up (mostly because of getting lost in the maze). The game seems to also break once sent back to the title screen, and I had to restart the whole window to get another shot at the game.
I also had a bit of trouble closing the computer screen; the one time I tried to do it, I held Ctrl for far too long, and accidentally did Ctrl-W which closed the window, but this is mitigated by playing the executable.
Overall, my teammate was right; This game is extremely underrated. We've passed this game to several of our friends and colleagues to try it. Seriously, more love to this game. I would honestly say submit this with a bit of polish as a full game after the jam. The story is excellent and so is the gameplay loop.
Wow, thanks for the feedback, this all means a lot. I'm glad you liked the game so much! I actually just now finished the game crashing bug you mentioned.
I'll take your feedback on death being harsh into account too! We planned on adding checkpoints but ran out of time, it's on the list of things to add in a post-jam update. I was on the fence of making a post-jam update initially but I think this comment pushed me over the edge into wanting to fully do one now. I had a fun time playing your team's game as well, it reminded me a lot of playing Warioware as a kid so it got some extra points due to nostalgia.
I had no idea Ctrl + W was a thing, we should have been more careful in that regard, thanks for the feedback.
Overall, thank you so much, and I'm super glad you liked the game this much!
Hello! If you're interested to see the direction this game goes in post-jam, we've uploaded our first devlog:

Thanks for leaving this review, it's what convinced us to go through with creating a post-jam version to begin with. :)
I liked the spookiness, and loved to see more of that, a little to much to read when starting the game for my taste
Really liked the game overall !
Great work, didn’t expect this to become spooky suddenly. there is a lot of potential, interesting style of story telling too. I failed a bunch, so this could turn out to be a game to learn fast typing. finding the computers is a bit hard though so if the player is close some indication would be nice
