How does the game fit the theme?
You are a wedding planner, you have to plan couples perfect day, the wedding day! Nothing can go wrong or they will get you fired!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Besides some minimal boiler plating all was done from scratch, we did not use a game engine so thats the least we can do.

How many people worked on the game?

I am not a good wedding planner 🤣🤣 I thought the taking notes was very useful, I rarely see games where you are given a notepad that can record details so it's a nice feature for a game that requires memory. The procedural generation of the wedding scene was also very well done, I enjoyed seeing all the different styles that you could make - I even purposely just went and chose my own items without considering the requests of the client 😂but it would result in failure every time. The music remix of each wedding theme in different styles was a fun touch also - and the music was very pleasant to listen to in the main menu. I tried to activate winlolwz and I also am wondering why Lyra is getting married twice at the beginning 🤣The character sprites were very nicely designed also, I enjoyed seeing each one of them. Overall, well done game in just a week - lots of art assets and procedural generation made the game world feel larger than just the computer and notepad in the office - awesome job!

Thankyou so much for playing! ♥

Thanks for the feedback!

>  I rarely see games where you are given a notepad that can record details

Lots of older games had a nice lil' notes thingy- took inspiration of them.

> The music remix of each wedding theme in different styles was a fun touch also -

Ethan did a great job with them, we were laughing a lot in the VC first time we heard the Jazz one.

> wondering why Lyra is getting married twice at the beginning

Well Lyra was a bit too hard to handle! First couple got divorced, but well! Lyra was so happy of our services she planned her re-marry with us XD

Thanks for playing!

Nice game! Awesome take on the wedding game idea, i really liked the wedding generation idea, seeing the decisions you make as the wedding planner felt visually satisfying

Thanks!

Yutami & Ducky did a great job on the Art & Enweave with managing to get all the isometric stuff to properly render with just CSS.

Proud of the team :D

Nice idea! Love the art and audio! The clients aren't very challenging—maybe a bit too straightforward. It would be great if the notepad stayed on the last page I used after finishing a client.

Difficulty levels might be a nice addition yea.

Nice game and awesome idea! I really loved my experience as a wedding planner. Apparently, not listening to the customers gets you fired for some reason. The visuals and audio fit well together. Nice interpretation of the theme. Also, the fact that you didn’t use an engine is very impressive. Awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! <3

> Apparently, not listening to the customers gets you fired for some reason.

Well, harsh reality :P the company has a 0 fault tolerance to upkeep its 100% satisfaction rate! :D XD

Will be doing more engineless stuff in the future too :D

So first: No engine is crazy for me as a non (main) programmer person. Very impressive. Did you watch documentaries of real wedding planners? It seemed very relatable to the industry!! I loved the consistency of the art style and fell in love with the characters :)

Making many more enginless games like it! :D

Great way to learn gamedev from a low level and challenge myself to grow as a dev.

As for the game itself I didn't really watch anything in advance, just used some "think about it" logic.

But some members on the team had more experience with it.

Wedding planner sim, this is unlike any other games I've played. The art is very nice, the gameplay is as smooth as it can be, the idea is very unique and somehow it fits the mechanic nicely. I see a lot of potential on how to make the game more enjoyable and gamey too, would really want to see how this can evolve and be a super fun experience.

I think the game would be really fun when the characters either A) don't spill the exact solution out B) have a unique twist for each character, (I stole this from fingered). Currently, the game is too straight forward and it's quite hard to mess up something. I would also suggest adding a timer for each sentence, as waiting forever for you to take notes is a bit unrealistic LOL.

Btw, it would be good if we could move the note window around, as it's currently directly under the settings button, and it was quite easily misclicked.

Anyway, I do like this a lot! Nice job as always!

Thanks for the feedback!

Providing the jam timeframe we had to dumb some stuff down ( we also all lost some days due to Pirate still going :P )

But more text variants to make it harder and a dialog timer might be nice yea!

Moving the notepad might have been nice too.

Wait, you didnt use an engine for this? Impressive!

Developer(+1)

Thanks :D

Almost all games on my profile are done without a game engine, Ive been programming JavaScript for over 10ys- making games without an enigne is a great way to challenge myself and learn a lot about gamedev.

Submitted(+3)

As a person, who has ones participated in wedding planning and worked with wedding planner myself, I can say you did a great job! Also, additional kudos for not using game engine, is it pure JS game?

Developer(+2)

We use TypeScript, SCSS and some Svelte components mainly as QoL, but all of those languages get transpiled into base HTML CSS & JS.

Submitted(+3)

Nice game. Good art and music. Quite fun to play. However, because the client say what they want directly, the game feels too easy.

Seen msgs on both ends of the spectrum- That means we did good right :P

Maybe a difficulty button to make it more difficult, or conflicting interests might be fun.  But we scoped it a bit lower for the jam :D

Clients are so harsh!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

one of them made me cry too :'(

Developer

Think anyone would be harsh if you are paying someone to plan your wedding for you. ;)

Very innovative gameplay, had fun. Pixel art, the music and the gameplay was enjoyable. Cool to have characters state what they don't like/want as well with what they actually want.

thankyou so much for playing! ♥ Happy to hear you had fun!

Very cute! I love the detail of having your selected items appear in the rehearsal.
Caveat: I didn't play for too long, so take a grain of salt here.
+ Wedding planning is a brilliant take on the jam theme
+ Pixel art on-point. Characters all very distinctive.
+ I can't resist a space cadet pinball reference
- UI for your desk has some jank. Can't seem to close the notepad once it's open, can't open it if you already started a conversation with clients. You can re-run rehearsals as many times as you like, if you wanted.
- Gameplay loop's unfortunately a bit basic. It was a one-week jam though, so this isn't a huge issue.
- The music seemed a bit repetitive

Developer

Thankyou so much for playing and giving feedback! Do you happen to have any more details regarding the notepad issue you encountered so we can check it out on our end?

Developer(+1)

We made the notepad glued to the screen after opening because issues with other overlays taking over.

Notepad isnt very useful if it closes during dialog / pc! Sticking it fixed was the easiest solution on our end.

Amazing game! Characters are made soo good! And organising wedding parties experience is very polished!

Developer

Thankyou so much for playing! We wanted to have a unique cast of characters so opted for a fantasy setting for them ♥ I'm really happy to hear you like them!

Submitted(+3)

The characters are really cool and the tiny furnitures are sooo cute! I love that someone get married for twice and their partners have so different tastes xdd

Developer

thankyou so much for playing! yes wonder what happened after the wedding hmmm hahaha

Now you have :P

I enjoyed the many options. There was a visual bug where notebook would not close then would get stuck on the screen. I wish the dialogue had more options for ratings but overall was very cute!

The notepad staying is intended as it was interferring with other menu's being open, (cant have that in a game where notes matter xd)

I understand it might feel a bit weird though :P
