I played our own game as a first impression!

If you would like me to play your game leave a comment here just telling me a little about the game, your team and if you got any future plans for the game. Thank you to the organizers and this awesome community here.

Heya! My game for this jam is called Molegan's Quest: https://keveatscheese.itch.io/molegans-quest

Molegan's Quest appears as a grappling hook platformer but if you dive deeper, it unveils itself as a layered story game with multiple endings and paths to take. As of right now, I don't really have future plans for the game.

Me: I'm a 16 year old game developer. I have some experience in pixel art, and more with composing, but most with programming. I don't really have an official team but I often collaborate with my dad and another friend. Currently, I'm working on developing what I'm really hoping will be my first commercial release. Haunt: https://keveatscheese.itch.io/haunt

Haunt is a game where you build your own haunted house, and upload it to the internet for other people to play in a survival horror-style fashion. Whilst playing somebody's haunted house, you can choose a piece of furniture to bring back to your own haunted house. I promise I started developing this before Meet your Maker was released or I knew of its existence, but for anyone looking to understand what the game is, it is a lot like Meet your Maker but pixel art horror. To reach its full potential, Haunt will need a large player base so I would REALLY appreciate people getting the word out! Learning multiplayer and cloud APIs has been really hard and the date keeps getting pushed back but I'm not going to stop until its done.

Thanks for listening to my ted talk. Hope this mostly fits the criteria. :)

I also have a youtube channel. To clarify: I'm more of a developer with a youtube account than a game dev youtuber so its mostly just trailers for stuff I make, and promoting stuff I like: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW1hSmR1UfIcCw2xB9FYAvQ

And my itch.io page: https://keveatscheese.itch.io/

Here is our little game made by me and my friend. Our game is a little casual mining game where your goal is to reach the depths and reach the treasure dungeon. Game incorperated the gameplay loop of mining till you have no stamina and then going up selling your wares and getting coins for upgrades to gradually get deeper and better. Game has hidden loot and upgradeable artefacts that give perks to help mining better. Oh u gotta watch out for traps and such aswell as dying could set you back.
After seeing all the feedback and a lot of comments claiming it to be addictive we are playing on making a  full game after the jam taking the fundamentals and building on them and adding new features to create our first full game under our proposed new studio Greyscale Games(TBD hasn't started yet) But yeah that's a little bit about us and our game will be great to see you give it a go and let us know what you think

Wow sounds awesome I shall give your game a go and add it to the list of first impressions thank you for replying.

Hey, this is a backroom/ liminal space-themed short dream-like experience, called Delving. It is inspired by someone who talked about his overly exploration of lucid dreams and how he cannot extinguish reality and dreams. It is a solo project. I tried to use teleport, stencil shader, or some game mechanics to do that surreal feeling, but due to the time limits and my crappy computer, I can only finish a few. Hope you like it, and plz leave some feedback. Here is the link: https://zeka-g.itch.io/delving

Deepest Dreams is a platformer where you dive into the protagonist's dreams. You have to travel through this world, both simple and complex, to collect the memories's fragments scattered all over the map. You will also find powers allowing you to advance further and deeper in this strange dream!

We are a team of 2 French developers who have created our very first game, "Deepest Dreams," as part of our first game jam. We made this game entirely as a team of two : Programming, Graphics, Audio.

After the game jam we intend to improve our game, collect all the feedback received to solve the problems it has. Greatly increase the size of the map, new mechanics, mysteries and add a deeper story (because for now the game doesn't really have a story aspect). Ideally we would like to go for something as big as Ori and Hollow Knight.

Hello! We are a father & son team that developed Echoes: Volume I in under a week (we started a day late). We had a blast working together.

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2236966

Echoes is a maze / mystery game. As you dive deeper under the water, more and more of the story unfolds.

We have a lot of features we're planning to implement including save states, revised story and dialogue, improved enemy play, stealth, & a way to track where you've been so as to decrease player frustration.

Rate Walls by ItsDaBoSs for Brackeys Game Jam 2023.2 - itch.io

its a simple mobile friendly puzzle game with one mechanic which is to launch the ball and try to bounce the exact number that is shown for each level before you enter the red door and if you fail to do that you automatically restart the level. I also added a sandbox mode where you can make and share levels with others if you want to be more creative.

For the future of this game i think ill be fixing a lot of bugs that have been found because this game was only made in one day and will be adding new features to the game to make it more enjoyable.

Hey thank you for sharing unfortunately i have no way to record mobile games so I wont be able to do that but my able to try it out and give you some feedback if you like.

Have fun!

I'm a solo-developer and I entered this jam to test myself a bit. It went pretty well. I won't be touching the result of this Jam anymore, but I'm working on Legend of the Wargod with the intent of releasing it on Steam.

Hey there ,

That sounds great I shall check your game next week as I checked the first 5 responses or so in my last video!  I will be trying to get through all of these responses before the 8th day when the game jam finally closes off. Thank you for sharing and I wish you well with your game dev work.

Scuba Stave's Salvage Squad: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2229360
Our team for this project was 2 coders 1 artist and 1 musician. We are super proud of this game. We have entered a dozen different jams, but this is the first time we did not have to start cutting from the scope to complete the project on time. Admittedly, we fell short on UI design, but we are thinking of expanding this game, some more stages, a little more story, some alternate upgrades.

Sounds like a really big team. I look forward to trying out your game thank you for sharing.

I'm a one-man game-development studio. Usually focused more on Augmented- and Virtual-Reality stuff. Also doing lots for clients and freelancing work.  You can check out more here: https://bbit-solutions.com/

But for this jam decided going back a bit more "back to the roots" and creating a "flat" game.

It definitely could be improved and fine-tuned, but think for a 1 week project it's not that bad.  Can not tell yet, if i will continue, guess it has some potential, but also depends a bit how people like it and if i have enough time^^

Would be glad, if you check it out:

I made a 2D Subnautica like game.  I felt it fit the theme incredibly well and really I just wanted an excuse to make a Subnautica like.  Added a bit more action, as it's a lot easier to make in such a short time span.  But there's still a fair amount of resource extraction and crafting.  The artwork mostly came from Kenney, so I was able to fully focus on the gameplay features.  If you get a chance to play, I hope you like it.

Hi, we are a team of 2. Tropical Odyssey is our 3rd entry in the Brackeys Game Jams so still new on the market here haha. We learned a lot during our development and screamed at Unity Version Control besides that we are friends Belgium-Germany and want to improve each competition on what we can do and take in what we learned.

Our future plans is actually fully developing this game and bringing it to other platforms including PS5 (at least that's the end goal haha) We might even startup a Kickstarter to be able to bring it to the next level!

Here is our submission: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2236611

Here is my game Diving in Sadness by Ace-Meme (itch.io)

The player is diving in the dark water. The graphics are still simple that you may feel a bit confused at first try, but the point is I try to narrow down the vision and the player should explore the map, try to collect goods to open the exit at the bottom of the map. I hope you have some fun :3

Hey, great idea and really awesome of you. I see a ton of responses already so I understand if you don't get to my teams game but I'll post a link and some info anyway:

Our game is called Souper Cosmobot! It's about a robot astronaut who is on a journey through the 'cosmic soup', exploring the progress of human civilization along the way. It's a 3D platformer with some interesting mechanics like being able to pole vault using chopsticks and grapple and swing around the level. The goal of the game, at least for the sake of the jam, is to collect a minimum of 5 golden spoons before jumping into the next cosmic soup wormhole. Silver spoons also exist to reduce your time, as we sort of envisioned the possibility of replaying to beat your best time once you get the hang of the mechanics and learn the locations of the golden spoons.

Our team is an interesting mix of people because most of us met through this jam but a few of  us have worked together on projects before. But as development was progressing through the jam we came up with a lot of ideas for something grander that we'd like to explore post-jam, especially if the game is well received. There's definitely a bit of a lack of published 3D platformers on the PC so developing one in that space is really attractive to us. We're still in the talks of where we want to go from here beyond just polishing up some of the things we've already received feedback on. Quite a few of us on the team are actively looking to get a job within the game industry so having a published game is definitely a big goal for some of us.

Anyway, if you do get around to our game it'd be super awesome. I've been spending the past few afternoons making gameplay videos of all the jam games I've rated and I've already done over 30, so getting to see someone play our game would be really amazing to get back.

Submitted

Hi, first of all big thanks for this thread and the videos too!

I'm one part of Fallacy Studio, which is a group of game development students from University of California, Santa Cruz (both ongoing and alumni)! For this jam, our group made a metroidvania platformer set in an unknown new planet that has appeared within the star system. Players must dive into the depths of this planet to discover the secrets of the planet.

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2235848

Our group is definitely planning on releasing a small update to address some common feedback we've received from playthroughs of the game, but have no further plans for this game beyond that. Nevertheless we are still very proud of what we've made as it has showed a lot of growth since our last game! Hope you'll enjoy playing it!

Submitted

Getting this kind of feedback is so great for developers, thanks for doing this.

I'm a solo developer who has been working with Unity on and off for about 6 years now. For the jam, I thought about my favorite game genres and what makes them so special. Then, I designed a game revolving around all of them where you have to switch between those genres to progress in the game. So basically I made four games in one, then synced them all up!

I do plan on releasing this game after the jam for free on the Steam store as a short 30-60 minute puzzle game. The entire game and features are already done, it just needs a good coat of polishing or two and some bug fixes :)

Feel free to try it here!

Hi there! This is a short game where you need to find the correct combination of keys in order to help a little girl threatened by her horrible father. Oh, I forgot to tell you that you are just an axolotl in an aquarium. Mh? Sounds impossibile? I guess...

It's one of those games that makes you angry. But maybe you can still laugh, I hope.

If you try it, I hope you'll like it!

(obviously in the next days I'm gonna try your game too!)

If the offer still stands, here's my game.

I guess the best genre to fit it in is top down shooter, but you'll be using the gun for movement more than anything else. It's technically endless too, so no pressure on making a longer video to fully complete it.

I'm completely solo, and only really started game-dev this summer. And I'm currently working on a free improved version, which already makes the jam version look like a basic demo.

Thanks!

Fishing Time

Hey there! My game is about how the main protagonist fishes through the deep thoughts he wished to keep a secret in his mind. You dive deeper and deeper slowly uncovering the story by fishing up memories "Treasures". I don't want to spoil too much!

Me The Developer

I am an aspiring indie game developer, it has been my dream ever since I was a little kid, and I am taking the jump of joining this game jam! This is the first one I have ever been apart of! But I am a solo team, I make the art, audio, I program, everything...

What The Future Holds?

I am going to be completely finishing this game after the game jam! I have a lot of ideas I still want to implement, and I want to document all of it on YouTube, because I want to show people that you can follow your dreams, even if its just a one person team.

...Is a strange little roguelike bullet hell in the making. It's fairly bare bones at the moment, sporting only one enemy type, but I intend to develop it into a full game eventually with multiple zones, boss fights, a hub world, permanent upgrades, an ending, etc.
In the meantime, I've been working on an update that will bring this little prototype closer to the original vision I had for it at the beginning of the jam.
If you get around to it, I hope you enjoy :)

Well Hello there!

I hope it is not to late for this, anyway here.

My game is a fast paced work in progress with a unique twist on the usual fighting/rpg combat. Not very much was actually completely finished for the jam, but I am planning to release a major update after the jam has ended :)

Who am I, well a (soon to be) 16y/o solo developer. No real team yet, but I am hoping to change that. I do pixelart, some music (not very good, hoping to improve at it) and ofc coding  (I have done C, python, adruino and C++, but I mostly work in C#).

I'm thinking about starting a YouTube channel myself (actually more like rebooting a dead one).

Thanks for reaching the end, but that's all for me. :)

But other than that I shall try and get through the list thank you to everyone for posting here . What an awesome community.
