Nice game! The combat is pretty fun and I like the various types of enemies you put in. The dash is super nice and fun to play around with, but I did feel like the movement was a little slippery, so more friction on the ground would have been great. I also think the shark-like enemy needs an indicator of when it'll charge, so that the player has more time to react and dash away. The path leading to the boss was kind of annoying to traverse as it's really easy to fall into, but the boss fight itself was very fun. I managed to beat him and I had fun weaving around his projectiles. Great work!

I'm glad you liked it. I like the idea of an attack indicator for the charging enemy! And sorry about the bottomless pits - they didn't look as lethal or annoying on paper :c

After I played some games, I feel that this game is nowhere near unfortunately.

Developer

There were a lot of problems with the team - we started as a trio with a designated artist and I ended up having to make everything myself. That's why it's a bit of a mess. Yeah, not my proudest work, to be honest - but it's playable.

After enduring all those taunting messages on death I only get a "You Win" at the end?  Took me a while to realise that there were other paths to the  go than the ones immediately to the right of the player but I eventually did. The dash feels really good in this and shake and sound on being hurt as well.  The knockback  when you're hit seems like the perfect amount to be able to recover. Player movement felt good too, a little slow but I feel like the dash made up for it. I found myself using chokepoints on the map to cheat lol not sure if that was intentional but it helped me finish. As well  as leaving the boss area to recover. I  really wanted to be able to hit enemies off the map (the way I had died many times) So I think that would be a good addition and perhaps also making it harder to fall off the map. Other than that though it was a nice experience, great job on getting all this done in the time limit

I really apreciate the extensive feedback! I probably should've spent more time in making the victory screen satifying, as you said. There were a lot of different messages like with death, you kind of landed on a generic one. I got plenty of "player should be faster" comments, so I'll definitelly tweak that. Chockepoint were kind of intentional - the idea was that you would have areas to rest/heal between fights, but yeah they are easy to abuse like that. I should've made some gates locking you in an arena instead. I genuinelly like the idea of knocking the enemies around to throw them off the map - will look into it. I spent a good while trying to make falling off the map less annoying, but it still kinda is. Probably checkpoint, or just loosing like half health and not all of it could work

This game (especially the artstyle) reminds me of the old flash browser games that i used to play as a kid!! Ahhh, how nostalgic!!

Both the enemies and the player should be a little bit faster imo, but other than that it's all good!! :3

I'm glad you liked the visuals. I wasn't going for a flash game aesthetic intentionally :p
I was very self conscious about them, because I wasn't planning to do them myself, but just kind of ended up so.

Wow Just Wow

A quick question, how did you make 2D navmesh, can you please make a tutorial?

The game was really great but you should have made efforts on art especially for the main character.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I planned on having 1/2 guys handling art, but they dropped out after 2 days, so I ended up making it myself. The 2D navmesh wasn't my design (nor the guy I'm linking actually) - I found about it in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-NIYi1t16Q&t=531s

Hahahahahah! really liked the concept of the game and the controls. The movement was smooth but slow and I figure the boss was that red bullet type right? I think the best part was the messages when the player died. Great game! Thanks for submitting it!

Please play and rate my game as well. I would really appreciate it!

I'm glad you liked it! Those death messages felt risky - I mean, I've got a poorly balanced game and then I make fun of you?
I'll look into speeding up the player a bit. I think I should've realized it's too slow when I was spamming dash to just move about. Many thanks for the feedback!

I really like this game. Gotta admit the first time I died I got scared from the laugh lol. The death notes (pun intended) were hilarious and I love how challenging the game was. Well Done!

Developer

Well, I did my best to sound evil. Maybe I overdid it xD

Developer

Oh, there's a hidden orange mini-boss if you can find him

I like the artstyle, but it could use some more animations. I found combat to be pretty easy, but falling into instant death pits was super annoying. The game could also use some music and more sound. I did really like the gameplay, and I'll say this is a solid four stars.

Developer(+1)

well the artstyle is what you get when you ask the programmer to do concept art but the real artist never shows up. Teamwork, yaaaaay! The death pits - yeah, a bit more lethal than I anticipated.

Gee, that sucks.

sorry, no mac version here, only windows. I will play your game when I have access to a windows computer later this week.

In the meantime, I'd appreciate it if you could play/rate my game as well! :)

Developer(+1)

Oh no! I was sure it was Mac compatible! I'm so sorry you couldn't play it :c

that's okay I got to play it on my windows! nice little game! I like the combat and the boss level was good too! The player didn't move how I expect it would, so that took some getting used to. Also, I feel like the player falls off the edges too easily, I feel a few times when only the tip of the character was touching the black section. Overwise, good job!
