It feels as if I'm missing some integral part of the game. After a few hours of trying, it seems simply impossible to grow a city on the given sum of money. The price handling system is a total mystery and handling rent seems to require a round of micro managing every day.
Hi there! It's hard to say without seeing your setup. What's your population and daily income? Certainly it's not balanced ideally but it should be possible to generate 100-200 per day without too much effort. But I haven't played the original version lately.
edit: You're probably not missing anything. It's a very small and simplistic game :)
I like this game but the color hurts and burns my eyes!
I also included your game in an article of my favorites from this jam!
I've really enjoyed playing this, I found making a profit a little bit challenging but I like that and I love the graphics, it reminds me of old school GameBoy games :)
Also, I've made a video on my YouTube channel or anyone interested :)
I like the game,
but an a little more extensive tutorial wouldn't hurt:
Amazing graphics, well made game. I included it in a compilation video series of all of the 1-Bit Clicker Jam games, if you'd like to take a look :)
Hey everyone, thanks for voting and commenting! Your interest in this little jam entry and all the lets play videos you guys made really blew me away. Real proud of third place and the end-result. Thanks again
A clean and simple game. Nice.
I really love the crisp pixel art style and the music fits perfectly :) The game looks a great mix of fun, complexity and addictiveness (from letsplays as I do not have a Win/Mac machine at the moment).
Easily the best game I've played so far from this jam! :D
Thanks for the comments and feedback! Some really valid points have been raised.
@JackOatley
Time update is something I want to keep constant for now (1 click = 1 day). I've been thinking about ways to upgrade build speeds, most likely by building some auxiliary buildings. Not a fan of arbitrary number upgrades. I'm thinking more along the lines of having your city hall and opening new departments there that will affect different aspects of the game. Eg. opening a building/zoning department to decrease build times.

Good point, I'll get to that as soon as possible. The allocation is a bit wonky, sure. It works opposite how it should - water towers/shops/factories search of nearby houses rather than each house finding the nearest structure to cover its needs. So the shop each house ends up with may not be the nearest and most optimal. That was just simpler to implement in the short timeframe of the jam.
Great looking and great sounding game. Though the clicking aspect seems to do little but progress time by a fixed amount, with no actual incremental factors? Will be interesting to see it evolve, and see if clicking in the long run becomes a hindrance without auto-clicks and increments.
Cool game! Nice art, clean UI, simple yet addictive gameplay. Although the way houses are allocated to water/work/shopping is very frustrating at times. It's good that you think on expanding the game, the most immediately useful features would be a range indicator for non-housing buildings in my opinion. Good work, and good luck for the jam!
Great job! Really enjoyed the game, even if I couldn't get any city to be profitable :D
The mashup of sim city with a clicker is great for the jam but in the long run clicking so much to build everything will probably get tiring and hurt the game, which is really fun otherwise.
This game is really polished, nice work! Great clicking mechanic, music, sprites, UI ... everything really
Great art and audio! Gameplay gets kind of stale after a while, but then again city-managing isn't really my thing ;)
Wow! This is impressive and very good executed for that short amount of time. I also like the very clean pixel art style and the game play mix. Very well done!
Great game!
One of the best on this jam
Brilliant - superb. I loved it ;)
