This is the best entry of this entire round! I loved to play it. Thank you for letting me break your game, the ring mechanic is awesome

I set my focus on getting as many fouls as possible, with the ring combo: more fouls = more run and jump + more mony at end of each round

Great game, I definelty had the most fun with this one and I played the longest. You earned the max rating <3
I cant imagine that you dont make it to the next round, already excited to see what you make :)

Now that's what I am talking about! I saved this game for last to rate, because I sensed it would be good. And it did not disappoint!

I adore how the progression system is designed. The sheer amount of different rings with fun different effects that aren't all just stat changes is insane (Like actually, how many rings are there? I need to know!).

I loved experimenting with various builds to focus on specific events and the system is well designed for that.

The difficulty ramps up smoothly, there's always a challenge, but it's so satisfying to sometimes just breeze through an event on full speed, or absolutely leap over any obstacle with ultra jumps.

Definitely one of the top entries this round in my opinion. The creativity and effort that you put in this remake is visible here and I must say, you once again created a great game!

SPEEDMAXING WATCH ME BLAZE THROUGH THE AIR!

Loved how the events kept getting harder and harder, yet you could absolutely evolve the dude. I even ran faster than the camera at one point.

Great work on the rings, a nice touch of creativity. And so polished to be able to see what each ring does by scrolling over once purchased!

Always a sucker for a good old tv style haha.  This was really cool!  Loved the use of Olympic Rings, and like most good rogue-likes the game felt broken in all the best ways.  Good job!

Wow, that game was really hard for me. (Hahah most of these games have been hard for me this round.) But nice polish and lots graphics and shaders.

This game is a whole lot of fun! Discovering the different ring effects was really cool and added another layer of strategy. The variety of events and at different lengths and times kept things a fresh challenge and I love having a choice in which race to tackle. Factor in the prize money, potential for fouls and which rings to hold, it adds up to a brilliant game

Very well made, amazing game!

Absolutely top marks.

tbh I was considering not actually entering this round, because I didn’t have any history with the game and I’m not the biggest fan of button mashing arcades (I was sweating just thinking about developing my own game let alone playing everyone else’s game).

Well, with no rub against anyone else’s entry (my own no different), I’m kind of expecting your entry the be the only one that I actually really had fun playing. Early rounds were unsuspecting, but as I started to see those rings to unlock and how the stacks multiply each other, I was having a blast given how ridiculous the modifiers got. Let me tell you, once I got “run on walks” paired with “5x run but no jump” along with the not being slowed down by obstacles, everything was a breeze but in the “I earned this and really gratifying” sort of way.

Verrrry minor UX thing, it took me a bit of UI hunting to finally see where my coin balance was, there’s a lot of things competing for equal attention in the shop page. But, quickly learned.

Developer

For the UI I definitely had some trouble placing everything. I should have just added a money bag as an icon in the UI. Or to make it more clear I should have added some particle effect pop ups whenever something increases, for example "+7 money" or "+1 foul" so the player knows the number increased.

Thanks for playing, glad you had fun!

Adding in the shop and ring mechanics added a fun and interesting level of gameplay to this version of the game. Also loved the shader effects.

Developer

I think it is amazing that almost everyone added the same kind of shader effects without communicating 😅

Did not expect to see a roguelike coming into this round - but I'm glad I did! The ring idea is super fun. I feel like some of the balancing is a bit off, like how the mountain climb is significantly harder than the dash and yet they are the same reward proportionate to their length. Also I think the spider ring needs a buff because I got really excited but it was honestly worse than not having it. I had a lot of fun with this, well done!

Not to defend on behalf of the author, but just felt like chiming in that actually I really liked how some challenges actually are impossible.. until you the the right stack of rings. Forces you to think about that and not just the events in isolation.

In my case I never had too much trouble with the mountain, but I ran into sprint once when it was impossible to keep up, and then quickly it was the high jump that had me out to dry. One ring (walk on walks) suddenly changed all that, which also gave it that spark of actually discovering something.

Totally agree and see your point! For me it just ended up I’d have like three options that repeated that I wouldn’t be able to complete with my current build, which was not ideal. Having some sort of loadout of events to plan ahead for might actually be a good addition, that way I don’t pick a ring that will screw me over for the next event or spend my money on the wrong thing.

Developer

I did think of adding a map (in the style of Slay the Spire) where you could see the upcoming events but in the end it did not get prioritized, that probably would make it a bit easier to plan ahead and choose what events to do or what fouls to take to get to a shop.

For the spider ring, yes that one is only useful when you have a build focused on the high jump. I did nerf it a bit before submitting because it made the event too easy.

Thanks for playing and all the feedback! ⭐

Developer

Haha, quadruple jumps.

Thank you 💛
