  • Gameplay really fits the theme and has good use of companions which have different levels of impact. I think the game would benefit with some animations and visual clarity with things such as health bars as sometimes it just feels like you are waiting for a random point until the enemy or your allies die. It could also benefit with more control over your unit and simple click to move rather than hold.
  • I think this game really hit the theme and having an multiplayer game function at this level in the game jam itself is great a bit laggy due to being located so far away from the server but it really did function well. The artwork is balanced and your team has done well with the twist part of the theme but perhaps could have worked on the rivalry aspects a bit more so just falling short of the 5 stars. I do understand with a game of this scope in the game jam the story itself might have taken a bit of a hit and rushed together so i couldnt give it more than middle marks. Great submission otherwise.

Hey!

How are you? It's Ilias again. I have some new questions for you.

What do you think about game jams in general, and this game jam in particular? What do you think could have been better, and do you have any suggestions?

What were your favorite video games?

Where do you think the strength of video games resides? What do you believe a video game should have to be a successful video game?

If you would like, you can tell me a little bit more about yourself and your background, if you have any information you would like to share.

Thank you in advance,

Ilias.

I love it this game, it has an interesting gameplay with a very interesting camera point of view and it's nice that there are different types of creatures and you can take them as alliances, I hope this game will be developed more and released on mobile or wherever.

I thought this game was very innovative, I want to ask for some ideas about it XD.

Congratulations on the work!

Great to see how your army is growing! I would add a counter to show how many each type of skeletons do you have. I had a big army, but it's hard to count them) Also it's a bit laggy when there are a lot of stuff on the screen. But in general, it is a solid game!

Hey Diadas, Fennrix, KGkits!

How are you? My name is Ilias.

I tested your game, Graveborn.io, and let me ask you, are you trying to scare your players?

I have some feedback, thoughts, and questions.

Are the lags related to the browser? I was using Microsoft Edge.

Did you include any optimization techniques, or did you rather choose to include only the in-engine ones?

What engine and tools did you use to create your game and your graphics? Was it hard to develop your game, and did you experience any challenges?

What inspired you for your game idea, the story, and the gameplay? The game's name and the undead and magic references ?

By the way, I was born in Germany/Dusseldorf, and currently, I am living in Morocco.

The memories I had back then when I was little kid include Germans being nice, kind, cute, and smiling and laughing.

I guess you guys are a new kind of Germans, the ones that love the survivor horror genre.

Thanks!

  • Ilias.

Oof! I liked the premise of this game and it might work out just great if the networking gets a good boost. For me ( Europe player ) it was completely unplayable.

Pros
- Visuals, sounds and aesthetics overall were very nice

Cons

- Network

Definitely something I can see myself putting a good amount of time, Onboarding could be slightly bit better but other than that not much to say, I always enjoy playing incremental games & well polished ones at that too. Artwork definitely the highlight of the game!

pretty simple, i get the lag is from the server being far from us so i dont mind, i enjoyed it nevertheless nice game

It would be cool if the movement of a local player was calculated locally and transmitted to the server. Apart from some minor lag, the game looks good. Did you do all the graphics and music yourself?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your comment :) Yes, we did all graphics and music ourself, which was a fun process :D

I really enjoyed playing, but I found that getting more than a handful of units would tend to lag out my game. I had around ~10 of the smallest unit and the game became fairly difficult to play.

Seems like a bit of optimization is the only recommendation I have, but it's a really fun game overall!
