Interesting concept. Salute to your dedication!

Great to see someone else also made a submission about killing villagers!

It's a very visually pleasing game. I think the mechanic of balancing fortified and non-fortified villages was a little bit basic, especially as the best strategy doesn't seem to be affected very much by the different obstacles and elevated terrain. Perhaps if some villages were already preplaced in some of the levels that might make the puzzle side more interesting.

But it's still a very nice game, great submission!

Thank you fellow villager murdering enjoyer, I hope to make more different buildings at first, but I ran out of time way too fast. Thank you for playing!

Idea is really interesting, also creator's score is very nice feature ;)

Developer

Thank you for playing!

This was fun! I loved how I could roatate the map and the addition of the creators score. A nice little goal for each level. The only thing missing was some sound effects! good job on the project!

this is definitely a really interesting game. i liked your interpretation of the theme but i think that the mechanic was explained a bit poorly. it's definitely a good idea but i wish the tutorial explained a bit more how to manage the points. the graphics were nice and simple and i liked how you didn't have too many levels. the rotation was a bit weird and you could probably fix it very easily by only including the up component of the rotation vector.

Thanks!

This is an interesting puzzle game. I like the cube fire effect, it's a nice touch. Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Nice puzzle, with nice simple graphics. The camera should be fixed on the UP Axis, that feels not good.

Developer

Thanks for the advice, I will have to try it!

Submitted(+1)

Neat puzzle game.

Clever mechanic and game design making you balance score per second and time. Art style is very pleasent, and puzzles seem well designed. Quite a unique take on the Jam Theme too.

For improvements,  as others have mentioned, stone villages are a bid confusing at first. Outside that, SFX and music would be good (again, quite an obvious thing).

Cool idea for a puzzle game. Worth spending more development time to polish it and add new features. Well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I think it would be better to explain the how it works more clearly. Not many players could have patience to figure it out. Anyway, good job and a potential mechanic.

Developer

Right, I should have added more tutorial stuff to the game. Thanks fo the feedback!

I spend 10 minutes trying to figure how you were doing that much score. I realized that in the description you explained how fortified villages worked and then the game became much more interesting. But i feel like a lot of poeple won't be patient enought to experience the while idea since it's not completly and well explained in the game itself. Anyway, well done.

Developer

Yeah, I realised too late that I didn't explain the fortified villages quite well enough in the game so I added it into the description on the page. You are probably right that many people won't even notice. Thank you for the feedback!

Great game! Well polished in both visuals and puzzle design. I must say, despite my best efforts, I could never quite beat your scores! I really like how there's not a strict win/lose condition in this game. Too many game jam games are too hard and make you restart from the beginning every time you die. I like how this one gives you a goal to shoot for but doesn't limit your progression just because you got a low score. Much better style of game in my opinion!

Developer

Thanks for playing! The scores set by me are almost perfect (I think) so they are kinda hard to achieve. Thanks for complimenting my choice to not let the player lose even if their score is low!

Took me a while to realize that I had to burn thing to keep the timer going. Great concept.
I noticed a bug, if you double click on a forest with fire it can softlock the game.

Developer(+1)

Oh you're totally right about the forest bug! Thanks for letting me know and thanks for playing my game!

Neat idea, took me a little bit of time to get used to it but afterwards I had a lot of fun solving the puzzles

There's something so fun about building something and something so freeing about tearing it down - such a good take on the theme!

Developer

Thank you very much!

The art-syle is really fun,  the theme was nicely implemented as well, great fun!!

Developer

Thanks!

UI was rather barebones and the rotation was finnicky. The tutorial was also difficult to understand. Reading another comment it appears the fortified villages do burn, but they have no visual indicator?

In any case I do love the low poly art, always a fan of that aesthetic.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The rotation is very... not great, I tried to fix it but had to move on to other things. The fortified villages do NOT burn, they just add 4 points per second. I should have made the tutorial way more obvious.

Developer(+1)

I have updated the description so that it explains the game a little better. Thanks for the feedback, it is very helpful.

Submitted

I enjoyed Burn it Down, but was unsure on how to fortify to score more points.

Developer

Hey, to fortify a village you just click on an already existing one. Sorry for not explaining this enough.

Submitted(+1)

Burn it DOWN! Was really fun gameplay and loved the art. Congratz to the team and good work. One thing that I had a hard time with was scoring and seeing it visually with the fortified village. Adding in some slight discoloration on the fortified villages might help with this.

Developer

The fortified villages have a different model, but you are right about the scoring, which is not visually indicated outside of just addig up to the number on top of the screen.

Submitted

The idea it's not entirely obvious. I would suggest to make the tutorial more obvious. Also, SFX and music add a lot to the game, so the next time you could use some free SFX and maybe generate the main theme.

Developer

Yeah, as always I was running out of time so I skipped the audio part. But I should have tried to add something even if it would just be music. Thanks for playing!

Really cool art and interesting concept!

Developer

Thank you!
