I like the presentation but I could not get anything to happen after trying and consulting the controls multiple times. I am sure I am missing something.

How does your game fit the theme?
be the murder you want to see fits the jam theme as it is a spin on the farming simulator genre. Instead of being the farmer, however, you play as the pests!

Really fun game! The visuals are stunning, and the mechanics and overall theme of the game are also really nice. The music is pretty catchy, too. There are a few small bugs, but they don't affect the quality of the gameplay too much. The controls are also pretty intuitive once you figure them out. An amazing entry overall!š½š¦
5 points for the awesome tunes that instantly starts banging! Great style :)
Fantastic take on the theme and presentation! Only comment is that the controls are a little bit hard to remember, maybe having prompts next to different actions would be helpful? You came up with the best title in the jam btw :)
Thank you!! From the moment we added crows, I knew we had to call it something with āmurderā :D Thereās meant to be some input hints (the key you can press is shown above the crow), but it seems they didnāt render on the web version sadly. It only works on the Linux build, I think because of differences in itchās web implementation of OpenGL. Hope it didnāt stand too much in the way of gameplay!
The music and graphics go perfect toghether, great game! The crow is really cute even if it's being a bad boy stealing crops :)
Happy you liked it! I think Iām on the murderās side here; they bring a balancing force to keep the farmer from overworking themself. Or maybe Iāve just been won over by the crowās cuteness, too! Hereās an early crow we left in as an easter egg. We moved away from this more myurderous look to the cute crow you see ingame, but theyāre still internally called šŖ myurderers.
Very cute game with great visuals. I loved the crows. I got to about 3 the first time and then the game froze, but i tried again and got further. I think my main piece of feedback is that the controls are a little obtuse and could use some simplification and streamlining. perhaps focus them more around mouse clicks and wasd. On the presentation side, I have no feedback really, I think the games presentation is excellent. Overall, good work and congrats on finishing the jam.
Thanks for your in-depth feedback! I agree that using the mouse we could simplify the controls a lotā¦ gotta refresh my matrix math but itād be worth it. Sorry about the freeze! Itās a custom engine and some parts are a bit rough around the edges, but freezing was not meant to be a feature! If it happens again, I would really appreciate if you can get a stack trace (just expand the error message in the browser console). This will allow me to find the code path thatās crashing and patch it up. :)
Glad you enjoyed it! I love the music, too; was so happy when we got permission to use it.
Sorry to hear the engine crashed on you! If it happens again, could you please get the stack trace (expand the error message shown in the browser console, youāll see a list of C++ function calls)? I can try to debug the crash in my engine with this information, as I was unable to reproduce it myself.
nicely done! my only piece of feedback relates to the controls, maybe point and click would have been more suitable for the game
If you can find the time, would you please check out our game as well?
Our twist of the theme is that a critic tries to play your unfinished game, and you fight from inside the computer to make him like it. Hope you'll like it!
Thank you! Learned a lot with this yearās engine compared to our previous entriesā¦ namely aiming to write ravioli code rather than spaghetti code. Glad I could push web support in time as well, since OpenGL is really iffy on browsers, but hey it works and only the button prompts got borked. I agree on the controls, it got a bit out of hand with all the binds. I might rewrite it in the future to support mouse input to fly out to peck a crop, so we get rid of WASD, Space, and Shift all in one go.
The presentation of this game is fantastic! As others mentioned the controls are pretty finicky, but I pushed through because the gameplay loop is really fun š¤š½
Man, the controls were really difficult. :D I think it might have been easier to just have buttons for the actions - but maybe chaos was your plan all along. :)
I really enjoyed it though. :D
It was hard to play because of controls but I loved the game itself so much that I suffered through it :D Very fun concept and presentation is neat as hell, great job!
Very cute game with a fun loop! As some others pointed out, the controls were slightly awkward, I think maybe a mouse-based control scheme would work nicely. But the game of balancing the amount of corn stolen is very fun! Well done!
Thanks for your feedback! Getting the numbers right for the corn economy was a challenge, so Iām happy to hear it worked out well. I actually wrote mouse support in my engine just for this game (you can see the camera pans to follow your mouse), but we found targeting the corn with the mouse would have been quite challenging math (it goes through a bunch of transformations to achieve the parallax 3D-ish effect), so we left it as a stretch goalā¦ and there it stayed. Looking back, I agree it would have been a better way to control than what we have now.
Very pretty art. I feel there were one too many controls to have to remember and they were a bit confusing. Enjoyed regardless
Cool idea and art! I might have simplified the controls a little, since it's hard to remember so many buttons at once
Very well made, the controls are quite solid once you get used to them. The art style is also very nice.
Really beautifully drawn and actually a cool game when I finally got what I am supposed to do. I would say it could use a little more feedback so that I know when a certain action has been or needs to be performed. Overall a pleasant entry for sure.
