Really great job! This felt almost like a professional puzzle game! I’m super impressed that you put it all together and made so many satisfying puzzles in just 48 hours!

I do have a few nitpicks, but overall had a really good experience:

  • On level 5 I couldn’t buy a wizard. I figured out that this was because the wizard wasn’t needed for the solution and you wanted to simplify the solution space, but the UI indication was the same as when you just couldn’t afford a unit, so I thought it was a bug at first. Perhaps some sort of crossed out indication rather than just grayed out would have made that clearer.
  • When you retry a level, it would be better if it kept your army configuration. I usually just needed to change one or two things, but had to place everyone every time. (Looks like you’ve already have said in other comments that this is on the full version to-do list!)
  • I suspect this was just due to time constraints and you have already thought of this, but the explanations of each unit on the game’s page would have been great as tooltips in the game when you hover over the unit button (or somewhere).

Awesome job, and I hope you make a full version!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and the detailed comment! I agree with all your nitpicks - in fact, these were things we considered adding for usability but left out for time! If we do an updated version of the game, we’ll be sure to include these improvements.

Amazing game! That last level was hard, but once I figured out the pieces it was satisfying! Archer coming in clutch lol. Very nice concept and art, but would've love it tho if it saves my previous comp I used when I failed the level. But other than that, that was such an enjoyable game! Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We agree with the saving previous comp feature! if we make a full version we will be sure adding that in!

Very nice game! The take on the theme is absolutely fantastic, and one of the most unique and creative takes on the reversed tower-defense genre. The execution is also fantastic, with very smooth and satisfying game mechanics. My only suggestion would be to add a "fast-forward" button, so that you can quickly test variations of your lineup and their order.

Fantastic presentation also, the artstyle is super cute.

Congrats on such a good jam game!

Thanks for playing, and the detailed reply! We actually did have a fast-forward feature during development, but we had to scrap it before the deadline due to some bugs that there wasn’t time to fix.

That's unfortunate! I'm glad to hear it was going to be a thing, hope to see it in a post-jam patch :)

Salute to your dedication.

Thanks for playing! I admit, it was pretty hard getting this submission ready for the deadline (and we had to cut a few corners) but I’m glad we got there.

Submitted(+1)

it's really not that easy lol. I had to cut a lot of things to be able to deliver at the last minute too lol

Submitted(+1)

I think your concept has the potential to be a great inverse tower defense lol

Wow! This game was incredible. The gameplay was fun and the puzzles engaging. I loved the visual polish and sound effects. Only thing I wish was that it saved your previous layout so you didn't have to try to reconstruct the whole thing from memory if you made one mistake.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, saving the layout is something we would have liked to implement fully, if we had more time.

A really tricky puzzle game! I had an idea similar to this before settling on the one I made, so it's cool to be able to play a fully realized and fleshed out version! <3

Developer(+1)

We’re glad you enjoyed it! I guess it makes sense for a reverse tower defence game to be a popular idea; we tried to give our own unique spin on it by making it a puzzler with a specific goal.

Great job for doing this fun puzzle.  i spent quite a while to solve the puzzle but i didn't get tired of it.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game!

This puzzle game is fascinating, and one of the best I've tested.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Great job on this, love puzzle games so this was right up my alley.

Developer

Thanks for the comment! Glad you found it fun.

Great implementation of the theme - this is what the author intended.

Fun game which isn't as easy as it look at first glance.

Looks great too, I love this style. Well done!

Thanks very much for the praise!

Thanks for your kind words, shobu!

Nice concept! Easy to understand and fun to play! Great first two levels to get to know the game! Good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing, we’re glad you had a good time!

Submitted(+2)

wow, great job on making such an interesting game! i love how you turned TD into more of a puzzle game. the art is super cute as well, nice work!

Developer

Thanks for your comment! We decided on a more puzzle-like approach to give the game its own identity, rather than having it be an exactly 1:1 reverse of a standard tower defence game.

Really great game! I thought all of the elements tied in well together and the art was super cute. I liked that the puzzles (especially the latter ones) were all unique in different ways and overall they scaled up in difficulty well. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! glad you had a good time with the game!

This game is so good! Creative puzzles, and everything is perfectly timed and calculated to look and sound great. I would have liked a speed up button, but it's not necessary. Very impressive overall

Developer

Thanks very much for playing! We actually had a speed-up button during development, however it led to some bugs we didn’t have time to fix, so we had to remove it. (p.s.: I played your game as well, it was super good!)

This game goes undoubtable hard.

Developer

Thanks for playing, we’re glad you liked it!

This game lowkey slaps - when I beat the final level I was sad there wasn't anymore. The puzzles were interesting and watching my little king guy strut his stuff down the path dodging crossbow fire like Neo was so satisfying. Release a full version please I will buy it on steam. 100 stars!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! We would have liked to do more levels (and we even had ideas for other gameplay elements, like more types of towers and units), but unfortunately we didn’t have the time.

First 5/5 across the bord I've seen in a little while! We steered clear of "reverse tower defense" because we were afraid we couldn't make it intersting with a unique spin, but you've done such a great job, I absolutely love the puzzle elements! I kinda wish there were a speed up button, bc for some levels I just wanted to throw some units out to see like where to place the archer to hit the button when I wanted him too before planning out my whole strategy. Really great work here!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, we actually included a fast-forward feature during development, but unfortunately we had to cut it since it led to some bugs we didn’t have time to fix.

I also created a reverse tower defense game, and really like the approach that you took with this one! the puzzle aspect was really unique, and the music + art was really great and well fitting.  It would've been nice for the layout the player had chosen to be saved between tries/for there to be fast forward button, as dragging the characters over and over to the same spot became tedious after a bit. The levels were incredibly well made, and level 5 in particular was a really difficult but interesting puzzle. Overall great game!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and the detailed comment! We actually did have a fast-forward in the game when developing, however we took it out due to some last-minute bugs that there wasn’t time to fix. As for the resetting every time, I agree that it’s a bit annoying; it would have been another one of those things I would have implemented if we had more time.

This is a nice puzzle game. It just took me a while to figure out that the wizard is counter attacking. Or why the wizard was disabled for a specific level. Probably to make it easier to solve. But overall a good game and nice graphics!

Developer

Thanks for playing! And yeah, we wanted initially to include a guide/tutorial in the game itself, but we didn’t have the time, so I wrote up some explanations in the description (e.g., the wizard’s ability).
