How does your game tie into the theme?
The game takes place in a Shinto shrine, and avoiding the rain is a central aspect of the gameplay.

That was an excellent experience. The link to the theme was spot on, the pixel art and animations were gorgeous. I liked the minimalist sound effects too. A really great job to all of you!

Really nice job! The puzzles weren’t too difficult but had creative mechanics. The sound design and pixel art created a calming mood and the loading screen with the spinning beacons was a nice touch. I only ran into janky physics once or twice, so that wasn’t really an issue for me. I would play more if there were more levels!

Great use of the theme, a very unique and creative central mechanic, well designed puzzles that introduce new mechanics, this is fantastic! Great job!

I wish switching the direction that the rain was moving was a smidge faster though, it started to get a little bit tedious to watch the entire animation towards the later levels. But overall there's very little to criticize here! I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up ranked 1st overall in the jam.

Excellent. The puzzles were fun and very creative!

It would be nice if there was music playing for every stage. Also personally would have liked a bit higher movement speed and more fluid motion, but it's perfectly fine for a puzzle game like this. Otherwise the game is pretty much perfect in my eyes. Really fantastic work!

Developer

Thank you! Yes, I would have liked to expand the soundtrack a bit, but time didn't allow it. Perhaps something for v1.1.

I'm in two minds about the movement speed. I think it makes the game and the character feel more thoughtful, but there's definitely a sweet spot to be found.

Amazing! Very cinematic and the puzzles were really good. Each level introduces a new element which is very good as it makes the puzzle enjoyable and non-repetitive. Excellent work!

Thank you! The "one level per mechanic" choice was intentional, and I'm glad it kept the game from dragging on, even if the result is a little short. One planned level that got scrapped was using a firepot to burn a tree down and clear a path; I cut it mostly because I didn't think Amaya would approve of using arson to solve her problems. :P

XD, but the level sounds cool tho!

Great art, fun gameplay and amazing presentation, really enjoyed it.

Really fun puzzle platformer. A strong concept, well-executed.

Amazing game, really love the concept and mechanic of shifting the wind left and right to solve each puzzle level. In the end I am able to complete the whole game, although I find it odd that I am able to boil the bucket of water while the fire isn't burning. I really love the level designs of the game! Overall, lovely game and I really enjoyed a lot playing this one, one of the few games that I actually did finish!

Developer(+1)

That's definitely a bug... anyway, thanks for playing! I'm glad to hear you played it all the way through.

My hat's off to you, sir! Really good game this one.

Developer

Thank you! But I can only take half of the credit - D4yz burnt the candle at both ends to make it look as good as it does.

Really cool concept! Each puzzle had an interesting idea, and a neat resolution  that never felt too laborious. I only had trouble on the last one, because I didn't understand that I could move the fire.

I really liked the transition between the levels! There's an incredible amount of polish. I certainly didn't expect to find so many options and even a control mapping screen. Great job!

Glad you liked it! Thanks a ton for playing Itooh! John really went all out with the polish for this one.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad the levels weren't too difficult, as that's been a problem with my games in the past.

You're not the only one who didn't realise the firepots could be moved. Perhaps I could have clued the player into that in a prior level. Or maybe I could put scrape marks on the grass around any moveable object...

And thanks for pointing out the menus - they're the most thankless part of game development, so I'm glad they got noticed. :)

Pretty well perfect, but what's in that rain that makes her die? Daggers? :P But no real complaints, other than it's not fair to other entries. :)

Lol thanks for playing!

Developer(+1)

I could've sworn I came up with a reason for that at some point, and then forgot it. Maybe she's water-soluble? Anyway, thanks for playing!

Really creative and inventive puzzles! Was a joy to figure them out :D

Glad you liked it Emiel! Had a lot of fun playing your game as well! I'll be sure to leave a comment when I sit down to play entries tonight!

Lovely mechanics! That game was really cool to play. Would have liked to play more puzzles. :)

Really liked the concept myself. It's all John, I just helped make it pretty. He did a great job with the level design, but it was no doubt tough to work with such a unique mechanic.

Thanks for playing our game! ^^

Excellent game!

Great art, controls, game and level design and the polish... even tracking my deaths and restarts: just wow! Don't know if this can be beat.

Two tiny complaints:

1. Character gets a little glitchy when using elevator - godot physics problem

2. Could have played another 20 levels.... :-D

Glad you enjoyed the game! There is definitely a lot more level designs that could be explored. John designed all the levels himself. We'll have to see how he feels about adding 20 more fter the Jam hahah

Thanks for playing!

Developer

Twenty more levels might be a bit much, but I'd definitely like to sort out those physics. Thanks for playing!

Really enjoyed the animations and it had really good polish of the game, I can tell you put a lot of work and effort into it

Thanks for playing Kyveri!

Thank you! Yeah - I think the player sprite alone took about half of D4yz's time. Absolutely chuffed at the results, though.
