I just liked driving around, didn't focus much on the game yet.
Very cool driving.
Music suits and I like the colour palette also.

Developer(+1)

All about that cruise control, man. Thanks.

Submitted(+1)

Nice project! The driving mechanics are really polished for a game jam. Very impressed! Along with the driving and probably just as important is the follow camera. Nice job on this as well,  it felt really natural.  I would like to see this as a multiplayer game in the future! Great job overall!!!

Developer

Multiplayer would be sweet, totally agreed. Thanks for playing Aaron, and for your warm praise 😀

Nicely done! But it would be nice to explore the city :D I found the safest playground ever! And the minimap is hard to read, lost a lot of money, because I couldn't decide where to drive.

Pleas if you would be so kind to play and rate mine, too :D

Developer(+1)

The playground is one of my favorite destinations too, it's also a delivery spot. It takes a little bit of time to learn the routes, and the amount of money you can lose is capped, but just check which way the minimap dot is moving and it shouldn't be too hard after a little bit.

I played and rated your game a few days ago. I left a silly comment about a snail wall. 😜 Cheers.

I like the game model and the drifting/skidding visuals and the music is good and chilling good work. would try out my game and rate it according.

Developer(+1)

Thanks man!

Like very much the aesthetics of the game and the music is great.

I would appreciate if the map provides a sort of indication of the direction of the car; sometime I found hard to understand where to deliver the pizza

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Will consider boosting navigation in an update

Submitted(+1)

Really liked your story and aesthetics! drifting around feels awesome. Found it hard to find my way to some delivery locations would have like the old crazy taxy arrow or something thing to help point me in the right direction instead of just the mini map, but overall really  good!

Developer(+1)

You know, I googled this Crazy Taxi arrow after so many people brought up the game here in the comments as a refresher for myself, and I was surprised to learn that it was actually a patented game mechanic for 20 years! They even sued Simpsons: Hit and Run over using it. But the patent has recently expired, so hmmm, maybe!

Thanks for playing. Your game was great too :)

Submitted(+1)

that's a cool bit of info I had no idea either!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game! I like how I can instantly drift!

Developer

Hey thanks! Yeah, I thought about putting drift on a button press, but then asked... why? It seemed more fun this way so I left it this way. Glad you enjoyed it.

Really well done game! The aesthetics are really nice. Gives me a tron vibe and the music is really well done to set the mood. Gameplay is fun and timing is key. The car physics work really well and I enjoyed playing this one! Nice Job!

Developer

Thank you! I also really enjoyed your entry, I rated it a couple days ago. Cheers.

Great game! loved the aesthetics.

Developer

Thank you!

Pretty cool concept. Delivering pizza in a sci-fi aesthetic world is pretty cool. The driving mechanics are perfect, but the minimap was kind of confusing, and I think showing an indicator on where to deliver the pizza on the main screen would be helpful. Still, good job!

Developer(+1)

Yo, thank you! I'll give navigation a little love after the rating period. I did want players to have to hunt for the delivery location at least a little bit, and learn the map, but maybe I leaned too far in that direction. Thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

Loved this! Really impressed that you implemented a mini-map, and gaining access to features like the radio as a reward for paying your debt is a great idea. The car handling was excellent too.

I'd maybe have less camera sway, as having it on all the time can be a bit nausea-inducing, maybe pull out the field of view when you're at full throttle to get that sense of speed instead?

Overall really enjoyed it though, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, Sir Knight. Yeah, I realized pretty quickly that a minimap was going to be necessary. I've never done one before, this one took the better part of a day of development to get it working. The method I went with involves a second camera in the scene that takes a snapshot from way up high as the scene is loading, gets rid of extraneous details via the use of layers, and then renders to a texture before disabling itself, then the render texture then gets sent into the UI. Then I just had to transpose the player's transform position onto it with a little math.

I wanted to do a game in a Cyberpunk setting where you weren't a violent gangster but just a kid coming of age and trying to move up in the world, but who is ultimately held back by an unfair cycle of debt, a trap that I think a lot of young people today find themselves caught in, especially students. That lack of upward social mobility, paralleled in the fact that your car *doesn't* fly is my take on the theme, Life in Two Dimensions. I hope I didn't stretch it too far or go too abstract. That's also why I didn't add an explicit "You Win" or "You Lose" state. Ultimately, you're just stuck. There is no moving up. No third dimension.

But of course, it's a video game, so adding some token rewards for a sense of progression felt absolutely necessary in the end. Hopefully my idea of the theme comes through.

Awesome, looks really nice, I would probably add some sort of indicator on the main screen where is the direction I should be following as this little map was a bit confusing for me at times but it looks and feels AMAZING and I like the colors and music! well done!

Developer(+1)

Looks like we pursued a similar color scheme in our games! Cyan and pink for the win

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! The car feels really good to control and I dig the aesthetic. Agree with other comments about a rotating mini-map, it was hard to tell which direction I was facing in relation to the map. Very cool looking page as well!

Developer

Thank you! I was channeling some kind of aesthetic idea a great deal in this project. I'm glad people are responding well to it.

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, cool aesthetic. I would have liked the minimap to rotate with the car.  I did get the car stuck inside of a building at one point and couldn't get out. When restarting, I would have liked to be able to skip the intro. A lot of fun just driving around that map.

Developer

Not adding a Skip Intro button was an unfortunate oversight of mine. And unskippable cutscenes is a personal pet peeve of mine! I've become the very thing I swore to destroy! :) I'll add it in a patch after the rating period, plus better navigation aids.

Submitted(+1)

I really like this one! I think I managed to deliver 7 or 8 pizzas before I failed one. Are you planning to develop this game any further? The car controls worked great for this, felt real arcade-like.

Developer(+1)

Thanks Beachblock. I will do a quality of life patch after rating has concluded, add a rotating minimap icon, skip the introtext, add some kind of Just Cruise option, etc. But I haven't decided if I will really continue development. Guess I'll see how it ends up rating in the Jam first, if people really want this game as a full thing. I do always want to continue developing each of my projects... but also I learn so much with each project that starting fresh often seems to be the best method for continuing that leapfrog learning process.

Submitted(+1)

I loved the aesthetics of the game a lot! Besides the style, it reminds me of Crazy Taxi for some reason. Speaking of which, I think an arrow on top of the car showing the path would be great. Better camera work can also greatly improve the feel of driving/drifting. The camera felt a bit far when accelerating, but maybe you wanted to show more of the environment. Overall, a really fun game!

Developer

Hi Squid, thanks. Yeah, I did want to show more of the environment, especially because I figured players would be scanning for those blue boxes. I think your tip for an arrow on top of the car is probably the best compromise for aiding the player to navigate in the main screen screen. I'll think about it further. Thanks for your comment!

Submitted(+1)

fun game, only thing i wish to be better is that the minimap could be larger

Developer

Minimap -> Megamap. Got it. I agree, actually, it needs more work. Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

sweet looking and sounding game! this was really fun and nice presentation

Developer

Very kind Alex, muchas gracias

Submitted(+1)
