How did you incorporate the theme "COMBINATION"?
you have an inventory that allows you to give your character a lot of COMBINATIONS of abilities

The ability tetris concept was really unique and interesting, and really well implemented. I'm always a sucker for cute pixel art and the colour palette was really pleasing to the eye. Audio fit the aesthetic very well, and you got a huge amount done in a small time.
I would say the controls and level design combined made for a very frustrating experience for me - I found myself over- or under-shooting every single platform, which kind of put a damper on my desire to explore the world, which seemed very well designed.
Still, a very impressive achievement, and I might try and make my way through the whole thing when I have more time and patience!
I really loved the concept and the character. Some things I didn't like is, the terminal is pretty cluttered and the checkpoint icon is a bit hard to get. At first I though it was a new ability or something. You could've added some text.
Except that, the whole game feels really good. The level design and the gameplay is pretty fun. Although I should say I am not a big fan of backtracking. It's a totally personal opinion but I don't like it that much. Overall it was a really solid game with a lot of fields for improvement. I would really suggest you to develop it further and make a full fledged game out of this!
(I forgot to say something last time because I played the game before voting started 😅)
Character was super cute, the artwork, music and sound all worked well. Really liked your take on the theme. I definitely got stuck more than a few times. Great job.
Really cool game ! I didn't understand that the checkpoint was a checkpoint, and tried to interact with it for a moment so maybe you could add a sound or a message, but other thant that and the jumping that someone already talk about, it was really awesome. Well done ! And the character is really cute !
Looks awesome I love the storing game mechanics. I got stuck a couple of time and add to restart so couldn't finish yet but will try to get back to it. Very clever way to implement the theme.
Interesting idea, there arent many metroidvanias in game jams and u did it really well but I personally felt like the backtracking was too much and often times I got lost just wandering around
This is really good ! Not easy at all but pretu fun to keep trying at it
What I liked
- I love metroidvanias and you really implemented heavy backtracking, which I haven't really nailed down yet,
- Visually, I like it. The background draws the eye just enough to notice it, but not have it detract from the game.
- Audio-wise, it felt like it meshed well together.
- It felt clear that the theme was implemented in some way, in your case, the manipulation of an ability grid.
Suggestions/Feedback
- Implementing a lot of backtracking can make it tedious to remember every room and which places they couldn't reach yet. Implementing a map would be a big game changer for your entry.
- Jump input needs some tweaking. There were a lot of times where I jumped when I didn't want to just because I didn't release the spacebar in time. Instead of when the jump is held, I would make it so that it only jumps when its initially pushed or released only.
- Personally, I think the "meme" windows in your ability grid screen really adds unnecessary clutter visually.
Overall, you did have a solid entry. Metroidvanias are ambitious for jams, so congratulations on what you accomplished. If you like Metroidvanias, you should participate in Metroidvania Month Jam. One just started today, but I need to catch up on other work and have some time to recharge my batteries.
