I love that there were achievements, so that the player feels the need of completing them all! Could need some more variety in the game, but with this time-limited jam, it's a really great game!

Thank you <3

+ Very nice graphics and UI. really good job and enjoyable

- Too passive for me, I don't enjoy idle games...

- No AI, just a robot automatically firing

Perhaps you could think of other kinds of upgrades, to give other axis of progression? For example managing the nighmare stress?

Or making game cycles, i.e. the nights, wich would be more or less runs ?

Developer

Thanks :) Yep, I had many ideas but felt like it's better to finish something and polish it - definitely room for improvement and I learned a lot  :)

I would have preferred more interactivity with the gameplay; maybe having the nightmares fight back and the player has to defend/dodge. Then having to choose whether to upgrade your bot, or enhance your own survivability. Having said that, the UI is very well done and the unlock system and goals add a nice sense of progression.

Developer

Thank you :) I wouldn't dare to hurt Dream-o-Bot :D

Super polished, graphics look great! Nicely done.

Sorry, but I did not care for this. It feels very passive, like I’m just watching a timer count down – albeit, an extremely polished one (really like the crunchy laser SFX and music). It seems you could “win” by just opening it and letting it run for a few hours with no interaction (I progressed from like #30 to #50 just by writing this comment and ignoring it). That said, a very small adjustment could completely change my mind, like having to dodge occasionally, and programming in a lose condition.

Developer(+1)

Yep, it's not for everyone but thanks for checking it out <3 Idle/incremental games usually (almost always) don't have lose condition. It's more like a relaxing experience you play in the background while doing something else :)

Submitted

I guess it’s just a critique of the genre then, not your game. :) Hope that didn’t come off as too harsh!

Developer

It didn't, all good <3

dumbobot ? :D

the one with the x amount of credits is pretty clear

Developer

Dumb-o-Bot - beat first 10 nightmares with no upgrades (you can reset progress by leaving other achievements with bin icon in top/right) ;)

Would love a x2 or x4 speed mode but this game is super polished, even acheivements. I am beyond impressed

Developer

Thank you <3

It's a well polished game!
Maybe it would be nice if the enemies also attacked me.

Developer

I wouldn't dare hurt Dream-o-Bot <3 :D

Although idle games are not for me, I appreciate how polished the UI is. I liked the icons and the achievements system.

Congratulations on your submission!

Nice, yeah it was a little slow and I wish I could play it without having to be on the tab for the game to run, its a browser limitation, not your fault but it would be nice to have it running in the background while I do other stuff and check up on it from time to time

Developer(+1)

It is possible just didn't have time to do that :) Still, glad you enjoyed it <3

This is very entertaining, what game engine did you use to make this game? And how do you get the "dumb-o-bot" achievement?

Developer

Thank you <3 Glad you enjoyed it :)

No framework/engine - just plain JS/CSS/HTML, it's basically a website :D

Great game, loved the achievement system! I wish there would be more to do while waiting for the attacks to charge, but other than that, it was very fun!

Enjoying the game right now, but I have few gripes with it:

The biggest one is the random upgrade mechanic. It feels soooo bad to get a downgrade with your last points right before an enemy with 10k HP. I went straight from 11x damage to 7x (I got  2 downgrades in a row). As it's the only upgrade available after some time, I'm in a place right now where I'm just not daring to spend points on it anymore, because if I get another downgrade, it will take soooo much time to kill anything to get points to roll new damage boost. Maybe roll from 1 to 3x instead? Or give it a static progression like the rest? Or at least nerf the downgrade effect? Please? It really breaks the snowballing effect you get at the beginning of the game

I also think it might be great to have enemies attacking you. You'd have to actually spend points in health regen or something, and the speed upgrade could then be something other than just QoL. I know it's an idle game, but there is no real incentive to check it after buying all the upgrades, and having some way to have the player loose might keep more people engaging with the game.

Please keep in mind that I usually don't play idle games, so it might just be a matter of taste regarding the genre.

Once those things are out of the bag, the game is really polished and feels nice to play :D Guess I'll keep the game running until I reach the final nightmare.

There is final nightmare, right???

Developer

Nice! Thanks for the feedback <3

The random upgrade scales with the Nightmare # you're on so if you spread out upgrading then it will always go up but I know what you mean and won't have downgrades next time :)

Final Nightmare is "You" but the game continues afterwards as some people enjoy playing it longer (one guy is on Nightmare #100,000 already :D) + to complete all the achievements :)

Submitted(+1)

Regarding the upgrade thing, I did the math with the formula you put in the upgrade description, and it should give you no downgrade after nightmare #25 ( 0.25 + (25*0.03) = 1), so either there is a bug in the code, or an error in the UI, because I just got a down grade at nightmare 630 ^^

I'm still playing though ^^

Developer

It can always downgrade if you try to upgrade in one go multiple times. Here is a small calculator I made so you can enter the Nightmare you're on and see what will be min/max modifier you will get at that stage if you press upgrade button :)

Ooooooooh I understand now! It's not upgrading your existing multiplier, it rerolls it completely ^^

Thank you for the explanation!

Developer

No worries :)
