How does your game fit the theme?
Roll in one is a golf game where there are 6 holes numbered from 1 to 6... Every time you start the game you roll a dice and you try to shoot the ball in the hole with the number on your dice..... but every time you miss your shoot you have to roll the dice again... So the number of the hole you were shooting at could stay the same or CHANGE.

This is a neat concept, but I find myself only succeeding when I happen to get the same dice roll in a row. It’s just a bit too based on your roll I think. I think adding some extra mechanics that add more control would help and adding a bit more of a ramp up on difficulty would help with the fun of the game. Overall pretty good though
Hey, just giving you a heads-up: There’s been some fraudulent voting with fake accounts on this page. Just in case it wasn’t obvious, do not or encourage others to create fake accounts to vote on your project. You may want to check with your friends or family to ensure they aren’t doing that. If we see any more issues your page will be disqualified from the jam.
I found this mostly frustrating to be honest. Regular golf games allow you to slowly work towards the goal, but here you either hit in one shot or get screwed. Therefore the best strategy simply is to camp around a hole until you roll its number. Given that the design requires every goal be reachable in one shot (unless, that is, you want your players to gamble) I don't get why most levels are bigger than the screen. All this achieves is that the goals are usually out of view with no way to move the camera. You really need to offer the player some way to control the randomness, at least a little bit. Let the players stop the dice manually, so they can try to hit the same number on purpose. Or add a number of targets that players can aim for instead of the goal, to freeze their dice one turn longer and get closer.
Cool concept but there is almost no player agency. It seems the dominant strategy is the most boring one, which is to wait by 1 or 2 holes and wait until you get the roll you need, which can take agonizingly long sometimes if you are unlucky. I would encourage you to mess with the rerolling to find a way to encourage the player to play the way you want them to instead of feeling forced to wait around until they get lucky.
Besides that, everything else in the game is really nicely done, so good job!
I love the design and concept of this game!
buuut there is one big flaw I think: because the destination changes every time you shoot it takes away most of the control of the player. As an example: I could try and shoot my ball into hole 1, if I miss the destination could become 3. So I have to get the ball into 3, but if I miss again? Who knows what the goal could be, this could be an infinite loop with only one good strategy: Wait at a hole until it gets picked, which is a lot less fun right?
To fix this issue this might be a fun solution: Give the holes more variation and pick a hole at the start of a level, this way each level has 6 possible goals for the player making the game replayable (to some extent)
Either way, nice entry!
A unique take on the golf genre! I also really appreciate the mini-map at the top right, it really helps with some of the bigger maps.
Would love if you can check out my game too. Thanks!
Very calm and simple game. The concept is good and the gameplay experience is enjoyable and relaxing. Great job <3
You totally nailed the golf physics, hitting the ball around the levels was super satisfying, great job!
a really interesting take on the already fun golf genre. the graphics fit the style and feel of the game and it's overall really smooth and polished. good job!
Interesting idea. Glad to see someone else making a golf game.
The minimap was a really good addition and proved to be really useful when playing. I will say that it was a little frustrating getting really close to a hole and then having to shoot for a hole on the otherside of a wall. It made it so you had to be pretty much perfect at lining up your shots to succeed, unless you got lucky and rolled the same number twice in a row. I also think it is a little unbalanced since rolling a 1 at the start often makes the game much easier as that is by where you start usually.
Overall, I think this is a good concept, but really needs some tweaking to feel more fair. Great start and good job for making this in 48 hours!
Fun idea, but the dice rolls are quite frustrating sometimes ;) After 3rd level I started cheating by keeping the ball near one of the holes, waiting for the good roll.
The presentation is awesome, btw
I love the direction this took dice golf! It fits the theme well, and is fun to play. The color palate is fun, and the music somehow 'fits' the pastels. As some have noted, sometimes a shot is a 'throwaway', but that can be part of the fun within this theme!
The game is a bit slow paced, but it's quite a cute idea, and I really like mini-golf ! I think one problem though is the fact that not every hole can be made in one shot so sometimes you have no choice but to shoot for nothing.
I say it's "a problem", I understand it's not really, the game is also based on luck and I'm fine with that ! I'd say it can be a tiny bit of a frustration
