If you like Portal, then this is the game for you. Quite well done and easy enough to solve without frustration.

Playability is really top level here.

Couple of minor problems/possible improvements:

  • There is a light dot that is always visible on the center of the screen. It seems related to a far away mesh that is still emitting light.
  • Some part of the room are not perfectly aligned and show not connected lines between them.
  • The "hand" should be a little bit more far away from the camera. The picked up dices are quite too close and make difficult to see around.
Developer

100% agree with the cube distance, it can get in the way sometimes. Thanks for playing CPU!

This game look really good for a 48 hours game  .

Nice visual and nice dialogue from the dice.

The puzzle is not hard to solve... it just hard to get the dice face I want.
just wish I can rotate the dice and place it on the floor without throwing it.

//and the most disappointing part is that there is nothing on that secret room before the 1st rocket.

Developer

I'm impressed you got there at least ;)

Try to imagine the easter egg we wanted to put there but didn't have time :D

Fun game!
The commentary is a nice touch XD

Awesome little game

Love the execution. Creative use of a die! However I can't help feeling that the game would have been better off without it. The puzzles were not so much about the die but more the abilities and I never learned to roll the ability I wanted. The game basically became roll approx 6 times until you get the right ability, then proceed.
I had a good time anyways, so you still get a very high score from me!

Developer

Thanks mate! It certainly needed a bit of refinement on the dice throwing.

I'm very susceptible to motion sickness, so not having the option to turn on a crosshair of some kind left me feeling really sick during the entire playthrough. I had to take small breaks after each puzzle. Also, I accidently missed a line of dialogue at the rocket room. I tried to listen to it again, but the cube just said "That's all I have for you". I really wish it would have repeated lines to avoid an entire restart of the game.

Love your YouTube channel and hope the feedback helps. I hope you polish this up a bit more after the Jam because it really is great.

Sorry for the lack of accessibility options. Thank you for sticking through till the end <3

Finally just finished it. Excellent work!

really awesome work and nice interpretation of theme , I cheesed one location where I was supposed to use teleport face but I used hint face then stoop on top cube , it lifted me high enough to jump through the gap, also after getting magnet the missile got bugged , I didn't die and missile was stuck at one location but apart from that great game.

Developer

The damn missiles! 9/10 bugs have been missiles, heh. Thanks mate!

My favorite parts were the fourth wall breaks and insight into the design of the game. Overall, the core mechanic of solving puzzle rooms with a specific ability used in a specific way, but not being able to choose to use that ability at will feels bad. I've solved this puzzle; I know what ability I must use and how, now I must stand here and wait for the die to allow me to use it. It seemed like picking it up at a certain angle, and then dropping it at a certain angle, would allow me to force it to land on a specific face, as the simple drop didn't allow it to roll, but that would only work for situations where I could simply drop it, without the need to throw it.

Developer(+1)

Certainly the weak point of the game :D Damn dice. You probably heard this from the companion dice himself, but I added some artificial roll assistance depending on the room you're in, but I didn't have enough time to refine it and make it half way decent ><

Wasn't expecting a Mental Checkpoint game, and definitely wasn't expecting this cute little Companion Cube game. While there were some problems (the rockets in particular were annoying), I love how this turned out. Was definitely an experience to see the homing rockets from the tutorial I watched (and failed to implement) for my game!

Developer

The rockets suck. We both knew during our final playthroughs... we just didn't have the time to fix it/replace them.

Although I find throwing the cube at them mid air is a really fun way to get past. Without that knowledge they're just annoying though :D

Submitted(+1)

Lovely polished experience. Some of the mechanics I could cheese but the presentation and some of the puzzles made me feel very smart haha. Well done for the video ending.

Developer

Thanks K-dog

Great game! But the rockets had me pinned, I don't know how I was supposed to solve that part. Other than thought, I enjoyed it!

Developer

We didn't have time to communicate it properly (unless you listen to every voice line), but you can use the dice sentience side to distract the turret, or just throw the dice at the missile mid air :D

Submitted(+1)

Really good mechanics and very funny comments from the cube. The game lacks only the ability to rotate the cube with the mouse, and the levels with rockets turned out, frankly, not very well. But in all other respects, it turned out great.

Submitted(+1)

You should have made it so you can rotate the cube in your hands and while it's being thrown it doesn't rotate because fumbling around the cube to get it to the correct side is not fun. Also why are you slower when holding the cube? Rockets kinda just suck, they feel like they're avoidable and its just about speed but it was actually a puzzle the whole time. Maybe just something like a timer that kills you if you are in an area works better since it is clearly unavoidable. It would've also been nice to know sooner that holding down click lets you throw it further and you should be able to drop the cube without throwing it. The presentation though is really good and is very clean and nice.

Developer

Your comment hits home as all of the things you mentioned were pain points we wish we had time to fix ><

Amazing

I keep getting softlocked at the rocket areas it's a good game but I don't feel like restarting a fourth time

Developer

Sorry for your pain brother ><

Great experience, somehow I managed to break my game with infinite rocket spawning.

Overall very well designed, I didn't struggle too much to understand what to do and I particulary liked the voice lines ^^

Developer

Glad you had fun <3 sorry for the rocket bug ><
